  1. Not to mention the spoke holes will all have to be masked off/cleaned out after. You can (as far as I'm aware) mask off areas so the powder doesn't stick, the heat I don't think will be a big issue...
  2. Question is how long was it creaking before it suddenly snapped?
  3. Also check out the Specialized BG fit system to read more go to http://cdn.specialized.com/bc/microsite/bgfit/bgfit.html Pretty much everything is covered...
  4. The Jukskei also broke its banks, I live in Chartwell and went for a ride on Sat morning, there was a whole tree on top of the bridge leading out of Chartwell!
  5. Have you had X-rays done? maybe its broken...
  6. Have you tried using the Carbon compound grease as it worked on my Specialized post...
  7. www.moyamedics.co.za 0829227522 speak to Julie about training
  8. DH Bikes use a short cage and can get away with it because they normally use a road cassette which is smaller in diameter, also there is normally a single ring on a DH bike so the RD is not going to have to put up with stretching between a 44t big blade and a 32/34t sproket at the back... its normally a 36/38t ring on front and a 25/27t sprocket... Hope this makes sense
  9. Conti only offer the Race King and Mountain King in 29er versions
  10. Yes it gives better traction (and comfort) for cornering, you can't believe the difference it makes!
  11. Answers: 1: yes very good set up 2.4 MK front 2.2 RK rear 2+3:Any tyre will cut if you ride over glass etc, I have been running the supersonic tyres with no hassles and I know people who ahve had the UST version and cut them. 4:the conversion depends on the rim as with any tyre, if its loose on the rim you'll struggle...
  12. Hope he gets well soon, Before he gets the bill for the chopper...If an average ambulance trip costs in the region of R1500 to R2000 can you imagine how much the 'bird costs? My wife used to dispatch for Netcare and to lift the heli in 2005 was in the R10 000 region...
  13. 130mm is the standard BCD, meaning most other chainrings will fit (except crampag) 110mm is the Compact BCD normally has chainrings with 50 and 34 teeth...
  14. GS is the medium length cage and SGS is the long cage on the rear derailleur, if you ride a hardtail (and you don't cross chain) then a GS will do, An SGS is better suited to a full suss as the chain growth needs to be taken up by the RD...
  15. GP 4000, cuz I like them, thats all I don't think theres a massive difference in them...Get them in a 25c and you'll enjoy them even more.
  16. There are only certain frames that can take 1,5in steerers, then you get the new E2 forks with a 1,5in base and a 1 1/8in top also dependant on the frame... You can fit a 1 1/8in fork to a 1,5in frame by changing the headset as well as the E2 system, however you can't do it the other way round...
  17. That is a bit steep as the rav-x (depending on the type) can retail for less than R100 and the Pro stuff (depending on the type) shouldn't be more than R120 I'm talking about the "gel cork" type...
  18. The 104mm BCD one that you have now ordered should fit no problem
  19. CD may just be a part reference, Compact Drive is only really on a double chainring setup using a 40/29 set up, for XC,
  20. Thanks Hanco for clearing things up.
  21. Check the bearings, if they are not turning freely then it could cause the bolt to come loose even with loctite, it still amazes me how many full suss bike I get in and the suspension bearings are seized solid...thus causing damage to the bolts or shafts that they run on or in many cases cause the frame to break prematurely, which then turns into an issue cuz the importers won't warranty it because the bearings were seized.
  22. A note about JB's post, Hollowtech from Shimano refers to hollow cranks, mostly found on the Octalink BB systems as they were introduced at the same time, 1996/7 there abouts. Hollowtech II is the new system with the integrated axle (hollow) and the cranks too are hollow...
  23. Yes you can replace the bash guard separatley
  24. Sorry for your loss and I am behind your cause 100%, but just my 2c, although it is law that cyclists must wear helmets, there is no enforcement, the police force has a hard enough time trying to keep motorists in line let alone cyclists. I know Arron personally and while I'm not condoning his choice to ride without a helmet it is exactly that, his choice. personally I know that a helmet can save my pip, I went thru 4 in 1 year, so I will NEVER leave the house without it.
