  1. How old is the chain and rings? cuz if those are worn it can cause sluggish shifting...
  2. And Epics cheap?
  3. www.parktool.com DIY
  4. Erm how do you calibrate brake levers causing them to rattle? they are either worn out or not, an adjustment cannot make the lever rattle ( in my 15yrs of experience) I do not see either how a brake cable can "jump out" of its housing. The speedo pickup can be knocked loading it onto/into a car... I agree with Big H,
  5. Pump the tyre up to 8-10bar with it off the rim and leave it for an hour or so to stretch. then to fit pump it to 2 bar and start at the valve and pull the tyre away from the valve stretching it as you go round the rim, its easier if you put the rim on the floor and pull the tyre down.
  6. Just use sewing machine oil from pick n pay or something. but beware oil is a dust magnet and dust will stick to it even if you wipe off the excess...there should be enough oil in the legs to lubricate everything without adding on the outside.
  7. Conti Mountain King 2.4 front with Mountain King 2.2 rear...
  8. definately the rim tyre combo, the tyre has to "pop" onto the bead when you inflate it...
  9. You don,t need a sleeve just a headset adapter, Cane Creek do them for this reason...
  10. As if land access and road usage isn't already a problem for us...
  11. This is a big can of worms being opened! All based on heresay...
  12. Never drop any tool... but we all know that rule doesn't stick... Adendorf should be able to do it as well and they have branches all over the place...
  13. you can use the carbon paste on alu as well, does the same job, Its actually the frame, I had a Zaskar team and the post never slipped, just creaked a lot. If you measure the inside of the frame its a touch too big so carbon paste is the only thing you can really do, unless you want to get rustic and cut a coke can for a shim...
  14. Its a crack, how high is the top of your stem off the top of the headset? the max recommended is 40mm otherwise a crack may develop there, and i've seen a few forks broken there
  15. Me too, I will gladly move out of the way, and give a friendly wave...
  16. The bottom line is people not obeying the laws, Yesterday riding home from work I was turning out of Fourways Boulevard onto Cedar rd to go up the hill and the chop in the car next to me (in the turning lane) decides he needs to go straight across the intersection, basically not obeying the rules (if you are in the turning lane then turn). So it boils down to that...
  17. Yes you can...
  18. My Uncle has a farm in the area, and was held up at gunpoint after having dinner with friends and my dad, no one was seriously injured (the one friend was pistol wipped),all for R2000! but I think this is a bigger issue than friends enjoying their early morning ride, wether they are riding two abreast or not. Having said that however, I do not condone taking up the whole lane just because there's a lot of you in the group, I'm sitting on the fence on this one. all I want to do (as with most of us) is ride my bike on the weekend in a nice area and I take my hat off to the work the cradle community puts in, but like Bruce has said we all have our own community projects... I too get irritated with cyclists who think they can ride where they like as it creates threads like this...But I won't endanger themtechguy2010-01-15 05:46:35
  19. Well thats not the hubs fault...Try taking the pads out then pumping the lever so some of the piston in the caliper is exposed (don't overdo it as the piston may pop out) and clean the piston with white spirits and then lube the pistons with a dry lube, and push the pistons back and repeat this process again. other wise, use the hayes rotors and get a centre lock adapter for them... The other thing is maybe the rotors are bent, try tweaking them with a small adjustable spanner where they rub... Replacing the hubs is not the solution here...
  20. Why not make it a single speed? Thats even better...
  21. XT hubs are good value, XTR is Too pricey Hope hubs are about the same as XTR Chris King are overrated Industry nine requires their spokes=costly
  22. Conti do the race kings in a 'cross tyre...
  23. And these are the same Dr's charging the earth to patch you up after you've gone under the wheels of their SUV...
