  1. Good for what? Puncturing on our roads yes...on Euro roads fine
  2. Rumor has it that Malcom Lange gets +-R35000 a month, I know Anke Erlank (now Moore) was paid in the R9000 region when she rode for Microsoft. A lot of the youngsters will get paid R4000 or there a bouts, just be carefull about sponsoring, I've seen it too often, the individual/team wants more without producing results/credible marketing. I've seen youngsters in their team kit lounging around a coffee shop swearing and causing a rukuss, cuz that's what pro's do...ride and drink coffee isn't it?
  3. A tubes a tube, a blowout is 9 out of 10 times caused by an impact or damage to the structure of the tyre...
  4. No offence but if you've serviced for Christoph Sauser then you should spell his name right...and I wouldn't want my bike "tranceported" it'll take too long to come off the "e"
  5. No a creak shouldn't be there, if anything it'll develop as the bike gets older and dirt gets into various places but not when its a couple months old. When I strip a bike you would be amazed at some of the crud that comes out of bearings and nooks that never see the light of day normally... The brake story as well, the Avids I've found notorious for being tricky to set up but once set up can be good...
  6. Any ride is better with a full suss, I have both and use my hardtail for commuting and trust me I sometimes wonder why...Hardtails are dead, long live the hardtail... As for costs it may be a bit more, suspension bearings, shock service etc but the comfort far outweighs the disadvantages.
  7. I agree with JB its a fitment error...
  8. get them to check the pivot bolts as a loose one can cause a creak, and yes it can happen on a new bike...
  9. The Manitou agents are in Cape Town... shows how much your LBS knows...
  10. 2006 Tour de Lankawi...thats when that happened. its not photoshopped as it was on cyclingnews.com
  11. I've seen our very own Mike Thompson (brother to Jay) do the same thing at the recent world cup in Bejing, and he landed it. These track riders can handle their bikes!
  12. Ride risers!
  13. stiff link in the chain, pedal backwards and when the RD "blips" you've found the stiff link, then twist the chain along its length to loosen it... www.parktool.com has photos
  14. 140mm discs are meant for XC racers who are hung up on weight, they (in my opinion) are more weight than good cuz they don't brake very well, so (again my opinion) I'd rather ride without brakes than 140mm rotors. I run a 180mm in front and a 160mm at the back, and I'm not a big rider 63kgs but I find I can generally out brake most into the corners...
  15. A wider tyre on front will help with the cornering grip as a bigger tyre has a bigger contact patch i.e. more grip...
  16. Yes, Yes and Yes. They are much nicer.
  17. I charge R350 ex parts but I include oil...For R590 I'll repsray the fork as well...i.e. they smoking their socks...
  18. Nah they are very well wearing, one of my clients has had a mountain king on his rear wheel for +-2yrs and just replaced it now that its totally bald...
  19. I have Shimano 105 hubs laced with 32 DT spokes onto DRC rims with Conti 25c Gatorskins, I would fit 28c's but my frame doesn't allow it...take it off road when needed...
  20. Cane Creek Thudbuster, weighs a ton...The agents are Cycles Africa in CT. Generally (Iknow the Thud buster isn't supposed to) but a suspension system in the seat post alters your saddle height which is not ideal.
  21. You can, as Thug says CRC has some otherwise grind down the nuts so the bolt goes further in without bottoming out...
  22. Every one crashes. Don't blame the BORROWED bike for your new title deeds for the farm you just bought...
  23. What you mean if it doesn't crack? I've seen a lot of bikes "crack" so to point a finger at Specialized is not really fair...
