    Rst forks?

Ask the hubber called Kiwi he as far as I know imports RST
  2. Have your local bike shop contact OMNICO they are the official importers and the service centre is in cape town
  3. Look at this photo If you look at the damage it all on the right of the car indicating all the cyclists were in fact on the right of the bakkie therefore all were in fact on the far left of the road as they were hit head on. there is no way they were 4 abreast. http://www.diehoorn.co.za/2010/03/08/swart-maandag-na-drie-fietsryers-sterf/#more-2175 According to this article they were not alone on the road and were in a single file row which is consistant with the damage to the bakkie in question. My question is, If the driver was infact blinded by the sun why overtake in the first place does he not value the saftey of other road user if he didn't "see" the cyclist he wouldn't of seen a car. I think he saw them and just didn't care, overtook anyway, and it all went horriblly wrong, I hope he is found guilty of the charges against him. May there be peace for the family of the cyclist involved I'm shure the whole SA cycling community is behind them. May they rest in Peace it is a black day for cycling in SA
  4. Contact a Local Bike Shop, and have the lever sent to Cape Cycle Systems they are the official importer and tech service centre
  5. 590 is mad, Not even the importers charge that much to service it, Suntours are easy forks even if they do have a lock out its a sealed unit and can't be serviced by the user try to get a manual and do it yourself it is relatively easy
  6. It is the bottom rim of your bottle which touches your frame, Post a pic with the bottle in the cage that will give you a visual
  7. The man to cantact at Cape Cydles is Ian
  8. Most likely under warranty, if it is only 3 months old as you say, sometimes it may have been damaged at the factory or may have just been a dud Have your local bike shop contact the rock shox ditributor and hear what they have to say
  9. The in the Fox the dampening oil also lubricates everything inside, My advice would be turn your bike upside down every now and then so that the oil in the bottom can run to the top again lubricating everything properly, once again as the air side only has a small amount of oil in it anyway, the actual action of going up and down forces the oil up but inverting it helps that little bit extra Have it serviced regularly that it the best way to keep your fork working for years as the oil inside degrades with use and time Fox is an excellent fork so keep it clean externally to prevent wear and tear and leave the inside to a pro who knows what he/she is doing
  10. The dust seals and oil wipers wipe off the oil you apply to the outside and the residual as Tech guy said will trap dust wich couyld do more harm than good Internal llubrication is criticalespecially between the stanchions and the bushes, some forks also have foam rings soaked in oils for extra lubrication wich sit just below the dust wipers What fork do you have? Ultimately it is more important to keep the stanchions and outer seals clean than "Well oiled" (Externally) and make sure internally that all is well
  11. Have it serviced, The seal between + and - air chamber may be worn causing over charging the negative chamber But ultimately have it serviced by a pro who can figure out what is wrong it is an internal error so fix it before something else actually does breakMecnic2010-01-21 16:12:59
  12. Try to sand the edges off the pads themselves with fine grit sandpaper
  13. Congrats on the STP brilliant bike, Rims are available at all good bike shops they can build them using the new rims aswell, don't try to press the flatspot out it just won't work and it can weaken the rim causing faliure, rather replace I would recommend the either the DX 32 of the Supra BH pro both are alex rims, theses are incredibly strong and well priced The rim you take would largely depend on the old rim's profile, get one which is as close as possible or you may have to replace the spokes aswell But go to the bike shop and ask them and unless you are 100% shure of what you are doing let them build your wheels
  14. Ask your LBS to contact the suppliers, to check compatibility and price
  15. The worst part is I only see it now had a rough night worst part is I read it to check for spelling, and to be honest laughing myself aswell, I suppose no advice on this topic will go down with out some type of wierd humorMecnic2009-12-18 01:15:47
  16. Try some penetrating fluid on the nipples and let it soak for a while Mecnic2009-12-18 01:14:27
  17. Thats the rebound knob and screw, Howd that get lost?? ask you LBS to contact the Fox agents in Cape Town (Omnico) they wold be your best bet but as they are a wholesaler they can't help you directly, but With your LBS they can arrange something
  18. Contact Cycles Africa they are or were the magura agents as far as I knowthey can put you on the right track
  19. The design may be old but works well if properly maintained, it is a basic fork with basic internals, on the plus side it is fully sserviceable and replacement parts are not to hard to come by and relatively inexpensive, as the importer does have stock. the down side, heavy and could get sticky but that can be cure with a good quality suspension grease and maintanence Worst problem i have encountered is a guy breaking a plastic clip that hold the dampner seal in place but don,t worry he jumped the fork and it took a hit much harder than a cross country rider ever will, the parts to replace the lock out (manual though) the clip, the seal and the rebound, wasn't expensive at all I can't remember the exact amonut but it was definately inexpensive It is better than the suntour so enjoy the rock shox
  20. It could have leaked oil in to the bottom casting causing the sliders to sit on top of the oil take it to a bike shop and have it checked out do not ride it as it is now it could cause expensive damage.
  21. Ask you local bike shop to order a seals kit from omnico, and fox uses 7w oil don't use hevier of light wt oils as it can damage the damper cartridge
  22. Why not try to get a latex based paint it stretches just a thought don't know if it will work
  23. Check if the disc isn't maybe worn unevenly causing a wider and narrower spots, I've had that and it feels wierd it almost like takes and releases I replaced thee rotors and they are now fine
  24. Well the crush washer seals the bottom of the fork and those nut hold the lowers on, I'm shure a local bike shop that services forks should have 1 or two for you, I also think they might be the same size as a fox crush washer. Or ask your lbs to contact Cape Cycles andask if they maybe have a few loose
  25. The TT has spring only, So it is the preload adjuster, Go to your LBS, and ask them to arder you a new preload adjuster from Cape Cycles they are the Rock Shox Agents
