  1. The FSA bbs aren't renowned for there reliability, As far as I know FSA cranks are shimano compatible, replace it with something better like a hope, chris king or even a decent shimano bb.
  2. Seems the clamp and everything broke off it that still attatched to the seatpost? If so please post a picture
  3. What is your maximum budget you are willing to spend on a fork maybe somewhere on this very hub is a 2nd hand fork in good nick just a thought.
  4. Let me know if you don't come right, Might be able to get it tomorrow some time.
  5. I went out today and was 2 hour of fun only after I noticed that it was actually an intense training ride.
  6. I did forget to add was a set of Road shoes, but still could have been a maufacturing fault but thats not a fault you want to have happen to you. In my time at the bike shops Olympics were the top selling shoes and we never had any issues. Just my 2cents.
  7. I agree With Covie, I ride because I love it, I find a great track or course or route to ride then the ride itself becomes the motivation. Training programs ect do help but ultimately the motivation for me comes from the riding itself
  8. Hope this answers the question
  9. If that what the budget allows buy it.
  10. I would say stay away from Mr Price cycling sjoes a local guy here in bloem woke up in hospital after the sole and the shoe seperated, the sole was still attatched to his bike when it came into the shop the other half was on his foot in the ambulance on the way to hospital, happarently last thing he remembered was getting out of the saddle and sprinting a bit. well didin't end well. The Olympics are great shoes buy with peace of mind.
  11. No usualy only the cassette needs to be removed on the rear wheel to make access to the cones easier if the rotors are in the way thay to must be taken off aswell, (only if they are in the way though), and clean them well afterward incase you got some grease on them.
  12. The intenals can be cleaned usualy if the lock out won't work the intnals are all gunked up usually the return spring. Can be taken apart and cleaned. Its a relatively easy process Hopefully your bike tech will sort it and the remote will work again. Enjoy the new fork.
  13. My 2 cents, And an apology from the slight deviations Campagnolo Lots of companys say things are not cross compatible but remeber they have to say things like this and in there world if its not absolutely perfect in regards to shifting ect it's wrong. An example is that apparently according to a SRAm tech guy I met while in the states last year powerlinks aren't compatible with shimano chains the reasonong behind this is apparntly there is a minute difference in the shape of the SRAM and Shimano link and can apparently can cause a slight "click" but in the same sentence he said it win't cause any real issues. To be honest I have SRAM Powerlinks on all 3 my shimano chains, I even have an 8spd link (The silver one) on a 9 speed chain was an emergency fix but haven't changed it yet as it works just fine. Personally Campag sometimes over complicates thing with the proprietory designs which result in extra expense but it's still a great Groupo. Another thing that must be remembered is that if a company doesn't say that its not compatible some guy eg an American who likes to sue, will assume it is compatible and try it, something goes wrong then all of a sudden it is the companys fault that he needs new teath because the chain came off. The shop my dad use to do marketing for in the states got sued because the customer fell and literally needed new teath, he fell because his front wheel was flat he sued because no one had told him that he might fall if he rode it like that and no one told him to keep it inflated either. This happened months after the initial sale with the guy never returning for the check up. Hence companys are just being careful I suppose. But we are in South Africa, there is no such thing as incompatibilty, we still fix thing and make it work. 2 cents over
  14. I would say post a pic and lay the old seatpost against a straight edge and even check the frame against a straight edge.
  15. Skarebs are good forks if you can get it for a good price even better, Have it serviced before you put it on the bike, will be worth it. Keep up the maintance it will last a long time.
  16. Bike is fine when I landed I spun around and caught it, was actually rather funny at the same time I went over I cramped. Was laying there cramping with the bike on top of me, but still a great ride.
  17. Well its not weekend but took my new bike to the local cross country track took a line I've taken easily 40 time but not paying attention I hit it a little bit to much to the right front wheel went into a rather large hole, needless to say I went straight over the bars.
  18. Yes I should have mentioned the anthems of old and the new anthem x is slightly different as Hannes pointed out, ( that extra0.5" makes a huge difference.. I am a small guy, 167cm, I have ample crouch clearence and to be honest I am on a serious student budget after lots of shopping around the anthem x3 is realy well priced and well specced and its a pretty bike. Retail is only about 17000 with Fox front and rear. Heres the stock spec: Sizes XS, S, M, L, XL Colors White/Blue Frame ALUXX SL-Grade Aluminum, 4 Maestro Suspension Fork Fox F100 RL, 100mm Travel Shock Fox Float R Handlebar GIANT Connect , Low Rise, 31.8 Stem GIANT Connect Seatpost GIANT Connect, 30.9 Saddle Fizi:k Tundra w/ Manganese Rails Pedals Not Included Shifters SHIMANO Deore RAPIDfire Front Derailleur SHIMANO Deore Rear Derailleur SHIMANO SLX Shadow, Top Normal Brakes SHIMANO M486 160mm Brake Levers SHIMANO M486 Cassette SHIMANO HG50 11x34, 9-Speed Chain SHIMANO HG-73 Crankset SHIMANO Deore, 22/32/44 Bottom Bracket SHIMANO Deore, External Rims Mavic XM 117 Disc Hubs [F] Formula, [R] SHIMANO M475, 32h Spokes Stainless Steel, 14/15g Tires Michelin WildRaceR, 26x2.0 Folding
  19. Congrats on the Elsworth great bike, but I'll add my 2cents anyway After taking my Giant anthem x3 out today for a good 3 hours on the local XC track I have come to a few conclusions. In General: Over a hardtail any full suspension is a huge improvement however due to the change in angles and that the rear wheel now moves you will have to adapt your ridng style a little to suit the new bike. The Ride itself: The anthem has 4 inches of travel front and rear, which for me is perfect I find 5 inches just that little to much if you still want to enter and compete in proper cross country race, but the 4 inches is more than enough to make a long distance enduro comfortable. The Maestro suspension system works very very well, almost no bob, The frame itself is stiff, and stable at speed mainly due to the wieght of the links and rear shox being lower down in the frame and the angles are spot on, I set mine up for cross country, Changed the riser bar for a flat and flipped the stem to negative rise, but this bike can easily be made alot more comfortable by keepin the riser and keeping the stem potive rise. AS Hannes said the Anthem does let you know if you make mistakes but I prefer this make the ride feel more involved, but it doesn't bite your head off like a hardtail. I am experinced with longer travel bikes use to ride downhill but opted for cross country as I had a nagging neck and shoulder injury. I realy like the 4 inches that the anthem gives and the lighter spec eg: 160mm rotors ect... Both bike are great ultimately its up to you what you want to ride the Stumpy and the Anthem are technically in two totally different classes.
  20. An attempt shall always be made to revive an old thread
  21. I took delivery of my new Anthem x today, Finished building it and will report back after the maiden ride tomorrow,
  22. Shimano XT, Formula, Avid Juicys or Elixers CR, Hope, ....... It all depends on your budget, there are great brakes out there
  23. You shall not Bump more than once a day
  24. How could we forget the Couch
  25. There are many unwritten rules to be found here on The Hub. Lets hear what you think are some of them. I'll start with: When posting a sales add, No pictures no sale and you will get hounded until you post pics. Negotiation isn't optinal its mandatory.
