Having had a 800gs, I rate it highly. In fact, considering selling my 1200gs and getting the 800gs again. I didn't do much in terms of long trips with a pillion, but I understand it's not the most comfortable place for a pillion with the fuel tank being under the seat. Perhaps someone here with pillion experience could comment? Best test ride with the wife regardless.

Bike licence is relatively easy here in SA. Once you've decided to get a bike, book your learners. It last for 2 years, so plenty time to get ready for the licence test

Perhaps check with your medical aid - there may be protocols where hospital admissions occur. I had sinus surgery a few years ago & because I didn't get a GP referral to the ENT, the hospital co-payment was higher! I was proper annoyed as I thought bypassing the GP would save the medical aid some money...
