  1. I recently lost my panasonic lumix DMC mountainbike camera (shockproof & waterproof, so i could take it anywhere and use it in any whether and on any track condition) i always carried this one with me because it was small, had good image quality, a brilliant battery life (2 weeks in tibet without recharging) and because it could handle slippery singletrack or rocky descent or the odd rivercrossing. I was looking at replacing it, but at just below 4k, and with so many options available nowadays, i'd like some opinions first: - Is it worth replacing this with a waterproof camera, or maybe rather go for a cheapie, and when it breaks, i replace it? (it looks like i could loose or break around 4 to break even with the waterproof camera) - What camera are you using, and why do you like it, and what would you change if you could?
  2. park at rietvlei by the zoo farm. go for the 40k roadie loop, or for starters, just a few kays out & back. when you're back, she can have chock chip muffins & cuppucino while you take the MTB to the rietvlei tracks.
  3. the following links that was in a newsletter that i received last week: http://www.sani2c.co.za/Blogs/Blog.aspx?blogid=253&bloggerid=19859 http://www.facebook.com/#%21/pages/Subaru-sani2c/125009804227319 http://twitter.com/sani2c_scoop http://www.sani2c.co.za/DisplayLink.aspx?group=Race%20Details&name=The%20Route i haven't checked any of the links out, as i'm not riding.
  4. this river?
  5. isn't joberg2c underway? maybe they just overestimated their ability to keep up with all the admin during this week? seeding - you'll probably get a proper day2 seeding based on day 1's results. i've done a sani2c, a nonstop and a joberg2c, and all of them exceeded all expectations - from the vanilla milkies on tap at the finish, watermelon at waterpoints, afternoon-naps in the shade, evening-slideshows of the days highlights, the smss that sweeps through the campsite every night to announce the next days seedings right down to the pink flowers in the bathrooms - they thought of everything. but if in doubt, you could always let me know about a late substitution
  6. aaaah don't worry about being the slowest ... i've been there quite a few times and i'm still alive to tell the tale
  7. where did you ride?
  8. i joined nancy drew & friends for a roadie-loop before venturing into the park. the first time i cycled there outside of 24 hours and xc - beautiful tracks in autumn, the driest that i've seen the tracks - and a LOT of fun. i will certainly go back there
  9. get used to this ... did you get it dirty yet?
  10. fine then! monday? (this one - workers' day?)
  11. uuurrrghhhh.
  12. another something added to the ever-growing list
  13. ok, ok - i'll then simply HAVE to go check it out to see if it's really this good. a mini-hubride there? neeext sunday maybe? (8 may?)
  14. nothing technical. the bits between delta park & albert's farm is safe - i ride it on my own on days that i commute.

    fit track

have used it last year for 94.7 training. it depends on what 'does it work' mean. it logs your trainijng, sets targets, same as your polar program, or a simple spreadsheet would do. i liked the motivation-factor - trying to keep the training-hours as the program suggested - but you could get that with your normal logging devices too.

    fit track

eats up the battery life, though - but all gps-apps will, i assume. a very cool toy!
  19. groenkloof put chicken wire all accross the wood to make it less slippery. maybe suggest it to the guys there when you see then again? <hijack> wow, did groenkloof get their singletrack right or WHAT? </hijack>
  20. i've disovered the daggapad at van gaalens the weekend ... it's my new favourite trail, can't wait to go back. only problem is that it's not a trail that i'd want to ride alone - a bit remote if you fall & break something, and useless if there's no-one around to share the adrenalin & endorphines with.
  21. the daggapad at van gaalens
  22. did you, mark, and did it work?
  23. was there today, some mud in the bushtunnels - getting the bike reall dirty. did they change the rivertrack? it seems to be much more flowing than i remember, wider too so it's possible to pass .. and not as technical ... or possibly we were not on the proper rivertrack? at the office they said there's a 'novice' track higher up, we could have been on that. still way fun. crossed 2 streams, one was ridable (albeit with bottom bracket under water) - other one was a hike-&-bike - but not that bad, all in a day's work WOW that daggapad is FUN!! and that singletrack next to the road on the way back ... wow!
  24. i've flown with it once, as check-in luggage. i totally forgot about them; only once i was on the plane, realised that it might be dangerous. plane landed safely in capetown.
