  1. i'll do your hair for you, dirty! so we see you tonight?
  2. when in doubt, do both
  3. hey clint you did 2 laps of 94.7 - this one's lots easier; you can SLEEP inbetween dirty, see you there?
  4. articles that give me the impression that the writer rides - or at least know someone who does. while reading this article from entrytime i was wondering if i could fit 28 inch tires on my bike to make it more suitable for touring. i was also wondering why my shop didn't sell me suspensions with the last 26 inch tires that i bought. http://www.entrytime.com/index.asp?GoTo=fetch&afid=4&pt=article&itemid=3136&typeid=1
  5. on tuesday nights they're open till late - if you need to go test some lights after work
  6. anything that works with suunto hr belt?
  7. ooohhhhh that's one sexy chicky, dangle!
  8. entered. the 2-person-teammate got sick ... so i psyched the office up ... all erady to go, then one remembered he has a new baby - other one remembered he needs to pick up someone from the airport, other one's wife reminded him of something ... so at 6 today there was no tem, and entries close ... so i'll be all by my lonesome out there ... can't wait
  9. not that easy - i tried it last year when it bent one on ride2rhodes. several of the freedom challengers tried too, in the end i just gave up and rode with the squeak and are you *ever8 gonna ride a D&D again, DR? sometimes the disks just sing, no matter how well they are aligned? my hayes used to, no matter what i did - i kind of liked it, no warning needed when i was on singletrack, just slightly touched the brakes and it squealed and dogs/kids/moms/other riders would know i'm there
  10. hahahahaha so this is why you revived it?
  11. what lights do you ride with? did you do TB? and do you ride often in the dark? singletrack? singletrack downhills with some rocks? what lights would you recommend, and why?
  12. nothing really to write home about - or fly up for. who wants to brake for zebras or giraffe anyway when you come around a corner on your favourite piece of singletrack in groenkloof? who wants to almost miss corners at the bottom of steep drops in fountains? no-one likes the floating bridges and numerous small obstacles and bridgies at the night-races at teak place? really boring routes at rietvlei. & van gaalens - up & down the pofadder - too hot & too dry & too steep up & too steep down. naaaaah, boring!
  13. wow, i keep reading these posts over and over. we make joburg great
  14. every idiot seems to be replying on the posts, too
  15. - the tailwind on the n14 - don't think i've ever had that - the icy cold powerade (with pieces of ice in) after the MTB ride - the massage at teh pinkdrive tent afterwards - the loop in the city - jan smuts
  16. would it make that big a difference? i stopped at 5 water tables - and difference between cat-eye (only measuring when wheels are turning) and suunto was around 2 minutes. maybe if you stopped for a massage?
  17. last year i didn't - it told me on the results that i started in xx, and not where i was seeded. don't know anyone who didn't start in their batch this year - but last year the batch where you started didn't matter.
  18. and last weekend teak place was too technical, too hot, too much climbs ...
  19. that's how we know 'dibles! mands i never saw you yesterday - hope you took it easy with that cold? and if you decided to ride ... i hope you went to the pinkdrive hospitality area for a massage afterwards!
  20. last time i was on a roadbike was at argus. all the people all over the road with no space to pass and everyone trying to win the race was scary, so i was a bit scared of doing the 94.7. was pleasantly surprised - maybe cos i got a 'safe' seeding. maybe cos i learnt how to handle a bike offroad? maybe cos there's less racing snakes nowadays? i got the impression that there's more people doing it just to finish, or riding with friends, a social day out rather than winning. i liked that a lot. there was one oke who thought he was gonna win the race by cutting in front of me at a corner - i doubt he won, though, being already a bit off target 40 kays into the race, but you never know apart from that, i felt very safe. no cars, enough space to pass where needed, enough space for faster groups to pass without having to push me into the gutter. i felt much safe on tar then i've done in a long time, and i will be back next year.
  21. hi there M there's lots of slower people on the hub if you have a big grin on your face when i see you - i'll smile right back and think 'wow, he's really enjoying his ride' and if it's a frown i would wonder what you're doing on the bike if you don't enjoy it. if it's a particularly pretty bike that you riding, i might drool a bit about it - but otherwise what you wear & ride don't matter; the enjoyment that you get out of it does.
  22. i saw one can of what looked like this (couldn't see the wording on the can, but it was same size & shape that i saw at the expo) being thrown away on the N14 today ... so at least one person bought at least 1 can.
  23. after the race i thought (and mentioned to several people who agreed) that it was MUCH better than last year. there was no congestion, the singletrack (i DID see some) was nice - nothing technical, and it felt like a ride in a bikepark with all the loops, but 600m of vertical ascent is decent for a ride ride in the city. compared to any other previous year thie was great and i will go back. the only thing i can complain about is that there was no congestion - so nowhere to rest a little bit. well done 94.7!
  24. don't know about the pressure - you could always do it & go test tomorrow?
