  1. Chasing some vert and confusing the marshals from the Emperors Classic
  2. And we just had a quick but heavy downpour in the area, so expect more gravel etc. on the roads.
  3. Thanks Depending on timing I might stop by the re-grouping point to say howzit, but I need to be home for other commitments after that so wont join you for the ride back to Alberton.
  4. Time to revive this thread. Heard of an incident in Kempton Park this week, through the clover leafs from Pomona/ Dan rd onto Atlas, Strava segment is called Dan rd rollercoaster. Husband and wife held up and robbed of all personal belongings. Not sure if bikes were also taken.
  5. Would anyone know if there is a particular reason for a heck of a lot more light aircraft landing at ORT today? normally there are 1 or 2 interspersed during quieter periods, but today there seems to be more light aircraft than bigger ones.
  6. Its strange though. I'm regularly on the road at 5:30 and have witnessed the sun rising later and later. But it feels like the week off the bike between CPT and now has made the sun sleep in by 30 minutes all of a sudden.
  7. meanwhile in Gauteng we are still waiting for summer to hit us. It seems we skipped it completely, and are rapidly heading back into winter.
  8. Another dark start, another autumn sun rise in the east
  9. but isnt this the case with most events ?
  10. I was thinking more along the lines of cycling specific importers making big markups before supplying to LBS. OT, well maybe only slightly. Had a guy here from SKF the other day saying prices of cars have gone up a fair bit, so I countered with "your bearings arent the same price as they were when you bought your car 4 years ago" He then proceeds to tell me their bearing prices have not increased in the last 3 years. I call BS on that but decided to rather ask how they managed to do that to which he gave me some more BS answers on foreseeing and planning for the impact that came everyones way. Fortunately our conversation ended there and he went off to collect his car from service.
  11. thats a fantastic idea. Would love to see the finished product
  12. The sun is rising very late these days. First 20minutes of the ride was in complete darkness, this photo was about 50 minutes into the ride. It’s wasn’t that long back that the sun was higher than this at the starts of my rides.
  13. is it the bike shops or is it the suppliers ?
  14. I nearly bought a pair a few years back when I bought my first Ciovita bib, luckily the saleman at the stand at the expo pointed out the revealing nature of the bibs before I even tried them on.
  15. @Aron Horn please come back to this thread with more details
  16. Yes hopefully they sweep that intersection, it won’t remove the potholes but will at least get rid of all those stones
  17. Also if you're in the emergency lane, on that little kicker, coming back over the N17, whilst there are no potholes the tar is rather bumpy
  18. Picked up one of these whilst down in Cape Town as i discovered the day before departure that my aging Bell helmet had some cracks in it. Its not the prettiest, but damned light at a touch of 200g and through a mate i got it for a price i could not say no to. Only worn it for about 6 and half hours but its very comfy, hardly even know its there. https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/helmets/road-cycling-helmets/limar-778-superlight-helmet-review/
  19. I'm not racing (despite it starting on my doorstep), but can perhaps join you for your ride home
  20. exactly why I'm asking questions, my daily route takes me in the vicinity
  21. was this through the airport itself or one of the side roads ? what time of the day ?
  22. Went to Cyclelab on Saturday to look at the Lyne option. No stock anywhere, according to them Lyne are struggling to supply. Looked at other integrated options and then decided to just get the absolute basics for now and hunt around at my leisure for something. Since I had a small multi tool I could use, I just bought a Marvel CO2 adapter that came with a Presta-Shrader adapter and then got a Ryder Slug Plug kit. At home I found a small tuby bag, its even smaller than the Scion Elan, shove 2 bombs, CO2 adapter, multi tool and slug plug kit in there. Tight fit but its nice and compact. This is an image of the bag off the net
  23. the couple of times I've started a ride where I realised I had not charged my 130 I simply strapped a smartphone battery pack to the bike with some tape and ran the usb to the 130.
  24. I'm a 47 year old male, my bladder does not need to be completely full to really need to pee But, even when I climb off, its take a moment before things flow again.
