  1. I've got a different take on this, ban him from the classifieds, but let him still use the forums. That way we still have a channel to communicate with him and take him out
  2. I've gone back on this thread to try and understand, but I cant. maybe try and explain it differently for me. If they are using mat to mat for your time, how are you loosing time ? I'm not having a go at you, I'm trying to understand so that if they use the same format for another race I can be aware
  3. AFAIK yes it is the same street
  4. Road races are more expensive because of the need for approvals etc. to use public roads. I dont want the cost of a poorly taken photo added to that. I'd also like to see some competition in this space, Action Photo have been the guys taking pics at Road Races since I started doing them back in 1998. The pics and pricing was acceptable back then, but they frankly have not changed anything in their offering since, other than putting the prices through the roof.
  5. I often see the headline for ride24 pop up in my feed and its usually a topic that we discussed on BH a week or 2 prior, its almost like someone read BH and then decides to do a ride24 article on what they've read.
  6. I see someone created the AG de Witt hill as a Strava segment
  7. I was referring more to AP sending people out to cover an event. With their pricing and probably uptake I doubt the numbers work for them at an event with 1700 people.
  8. I also click, out of curiosity to see what I looked like back then. But I'm certainly not buying those pics even at 50% off. If they gave me 50% off in the same year I did the race I may consider buying maybe 1 pic per event. I think if they dropped their prices they'd sell alot more, and in return they'll probably make more money.
  9. [comic sans] well not everyones budget, even at the entry level point its 45k more than my budget [/comic sans]
  10. I'd much rather not have Action Photo taking pics of any races ever, and then pestering me for the next 5 years to buy the over priced pics. Also these are rather small races, I doubt it will be profitable for any sport photography group to cover the event.
  11. just looking on a map now I see its what I call fischers hill, but then I'm more than likely wrong. Either way I crawled up there yesterday.
  12. looks like somehwhere near the top of Fischers
  13. The Flat East Rand Was not feeling that strong today, so no PBs
  14. Matt specifically mentioned that if it appears in news24 it is not to be discussed here.
  15. yeah plastic does not dry well in the dishwasher
  16. I'd love for someone that knows more to explain how the power drain is more. My OTE takes a simple 12v AC/DC plug like just about any charger out there these days, maybe I'm missing something crucial.
  17. I think the issue lies rather with the fibre provider not having power backup on their side (exchanges or whatever they go through) For home use my simple UPS powers the OTE and Router just fine. Although with the continuous drain to empty days I'm now lucky to get 1 hour of use out of it. Will have to replace the batteries soon.
  18. exactly the thing that would be nice to discuss amongst mature(ish) individuals here, without the toxic remarks that can be found on twitter/facebook/et.al.
  19. kinda like a newbie gets here when asking cycling related questions or trying to sell something.
  20. I'm also very much a "house stalker" type house hunter. Not knowing the areas we are looking in I'm trying to get to know the area remotely. So I'll find a house we like, google satellite view and street view it and the surrounding areas. Often virtually driving around the neighborhood in street view to get a feel for the place.
  21. In any community you will have a wide range of common topics amongst the members. Imagine being part of a brand specific community where the only think you are allowed to discuss is that brand, it will quickly become boring. Take a work environment. Other than work, you get to know who to talk to about certain subjects. For instance my colleagues will come and talk to me about exercise/cycling related advise, even home DIY stuff. Imagine that been banned, you'd quickly become unhappy and leave. I agree certain subjects need to be kept in check, but with community participation to keep them in check it should not be that taxing.
  22. yeah look I would not use them directly for any heavy duty stuff, but things like lights they are fine. I've actually been contemplating changing the pool pump setup to rather run through a relay than directly through the TH16.
  23. yeah I know CBi. The bit of digging around I did this morning reveals the wall plug was only released beginning of this year and the rest was towards the end of last year, so yes seems to be a new product for them. Will keep a close eye on them.
  24. GCN has also changed. They used to be informative to a slightly higher level of rider, now they seem to be catering to the rookie rider just getting into the sport. I have not done the paid subs so cant comment what is behind the paywall.
