  1. @Vye Cycle Kit I requested a quote for custom kit via your website on Sunday, please make sure it doesnt get lost in the system as I havent received any feedback yet.
  2. Thanks for the input folks, looks like my thoughts of over Kloofnek down to Camps bay is the best option. We park at the waterfront, so I'll drop my chip off at the car and then head back.
  3. Hypothetically, how would you track your wife ?
  4. I do the same, but you still get the odd a$$hat that thinks you should not be on the road and close passes you, but they are fewer than those that try and squeeze past because you are far left. Unfortunately in group rides there are always those that take it a little to far, I think for the most part you'll see the majority of the group behaving. The bigger the group, the more of them taking it to far. Its the nature of any group gathering.
  5. you just need to go and spend some time at Surfers Corner in Muizenberg on a weekday to see how cape town works. Lots of people having a surf before getting to work midmorning.
  6. this gets to me so often. The amount of exploring we did as kids, just being kids, discovering things n our own. Its all been taken away. Even in so called secured complexes and neighbourhoods, you cant really let the kids run free.
  7. they can add me to the list of people unofficially doing the entire event twice
  8. I was going to do that, then I rode with him last week and realised it wont be fun for either of us.
  9. Removing chip is not so easy with the new chips as they are cable tied on. Might have to leave some side cutters in the car, cycle back to the car, cut chip off and then be on my way.
  10. but to do that on that route is not easy
  11. Right, so my mate is doing his 21st CTCT in March. We started riding together many years back, somehwere along the line I skipped one that he did, so my 21st is next year. Anyway, he is very unfit and refuses to have me ride slowly with him, but I think it would be awesome if we cross the line together. So what I'm thinking of doing is riding my race, then cycle back to somewhere along the route, for instance Camps Bay or somewhere else easily accessible, and then ride with him to the end. My question is 2 fold a) other than doing the entire route a second time, where would be the easiest place to cycle back to ? I dont really want to be that guy cycling in the opposite direction to everyone else, so somewhere with an alternative route to get to. b) what will happen with my timing when I cross the finish line a second time an hour or 2 after I crossed it the first time ?
  12. you must have been motoring to do that route in that time, way to many intersections etc.
  13. Bleeding through my eyes this morning. Was holding on by a thread the entire time, then with 10km to go they decided to form a paceline, I managed to hold on for about 5km, then we slowed momentarily for a traffic light, when the boys put the hammer down again I was done.
  14. There is also the possibility that the new battery is flat. Sometimes they’ve been on the shelves for years.
  15. The sunrise was absolutely gorgeous this morning
  16. Pre work active recovery
  17. you seem to be a magnet for cars. Insurance must love you.
  18. There are/is 1 or 2 gents that do this on our morning rides. I’m not a fan at all.
  19. My spread sheet says, based on avg weekly mileage, I'll finish on 9380, but if we break that down to avg daily mileage it predicts 10649. (since I found out you can link a spreadsheet to intervals.icu I've been geeking at numbers a little bit)
  20. Early morning ride with @Dexter-morgan and the group for the LBS. Did a few km extra to pip my total for the month over 900km. My biggest month ever.
  21. that pic wont look as cool with a GS parked there.
  22. Pre work solo ride
  23. having wasted many hours on golf courses doing just that, I can assure you that this only ticks the box that says "i tried something different that was not a mall display" Golf days are piss ups and ego stroking days, you dont sell cars doing this.
  24. I suspect CL is just getting the word out there so the community can be on the look out.
  25. Have started joining the group from the LBS who like to ride at the crack of a sparrows fart in the morning. Done a few rides with them, still getting used to the dynamics, but it’s good fun.
