    every so often I get a truck driver that does similar for me. Lekker thumbs up followed by a short toot of their horn after.

    Might be the same stretch of road, very similar thing, except I saw the taxi stopped by the shops at the bottom of the hill and was watching him like a hawk. My mate went through and not long after the taxi started to move, angle of the front wheels told me all I needed to know about his intended maneuver and I hit the brakes. Had I not been aware and watching him it would have not been a pretty sight.

    both quotes are very true relating to the second one, you're not only training the body but the mind. I know that at some stage this morning my mind decided that I'd had enough, the legs and lungs didnt take long to start screaming after that. What today showed me was that I'm not yet ready to do that sub 3 947, but there is time still.

    Today it took me to the big white telephone in the bathroom. Its been a very long time since a ride has been so hard that I've puked when I got home. The sad part is the stats dont match the RPE. Just when you think you're getting strong the boys turn up the wick.

    yep, we're more vulnerable on the bike, therefore we're more aware of the crazy's, but the fact is the crazy's dont care if you're on foot, on a bike, in a car or even if its a multilink truck coming towards them. A long long long time ago someone said, "always expect the other person to do something stupid", and I've stuck to that mantra. I've never been disappointed.

    cant comment on how they compare, but based on my experience you should probably get much more the 2000km out of the KMC. KMC X11 on my road bike is currently sitting at just over 14 000km and only showing signs of wear when measured over the quicklink. No special treatment, a dry wipe and relube with squirt once a week (+/- 200km)

    I think this is part of the problem as to why cars pull in front of us, they under estimate the speed at which we are traveling, That IS, when they do actually look.

    Only ever saw his name in print and on this forum. Seemed like a solid man with a wealth of experience and knowledge, he had my respect. A sad loss to Cycling in SA.

    I can never get mine to seat with my floor pump, always have to go to the garage. Pretty sure its the wheel tyre combination. The other problem I have is that as soon as I let all the air out (like when I need to topup with sealant) the bead pulls away from the rim, so even topping up sealant requires a trip to the garage.

    yeah, winter on the highveld, everything is bone dry at the moment and veld fires are abundant. With the wind yesterday, I would not be surprised if it was a controlled fire that got out of hand, or even a fire from adjacent property that blew over into the reserve.

    I received a pic and a video clip of what is claimed to be a fire at SBR yesterday afternoon, does anyone know anything about it ?

    I used Shoe Glue which I bought from Leroy Merlin. It seems to be working rather well so far.

    I’m also using a luggage scale. You could easily fabricate a 2 hook system

    Interesting. Only ever seen them lined up, but the concept sounds like it should work.

    is it just the pic or is something weird happening with those rear cranks ? plus front and rear cranks dont seem to be aligned.

    This is what is more impressive for me, in sport its often thought that after 30 you're to old to be at the top, let alone still break records

    I'm going to have to catch a highlight or replay of the last 15 minutes of yesterday. The streaming service I was using decided to give up right when things were getting exciting. Landed up watching the time gaps on the app on my phone.
