  1. Instant KOM for a few hour at best, then someone stronger than me will come through and smash it. I'm not worried about getting the KOM, just setting my own personal records and like to compare how badly I do against the strong guys. Although there are a few segments around where I could swear the leaders did not do those times under their own steam. But maybe that just me being weak.
  2. the official segment seems to turn around at the top by the robot. I normally turn left there on my commute, but have done the right turn once or twice during training rides. I see though that Strava actually calculates your time to somewhere just before the robot.
  3. I was thoroughly enjoying my bike yesterday, everything just felt right, and it got me thinking. Should something happen, and the bike needs replacement, using only the insurance payout, what would you replace your current bike with ? Now my bike is nothing fancy, but I immedeatly thought of replacing with like for like. Only, I have made a few customisations like carbon bars, different saddle and then there is also the Garmin plus sensors. Which got me thinking if the insured amount would be enough. So would you replace with the new model of what you have ? would you need to bargain down the new bike in order to fit in the customisations ? This is all hypothetical of course, just a fun discussion.
  4. I saw this, then immediately thought they copied Garmin. Except its worse, you have to try and remember hashtags
  5. Quick update on thisMy current PR is 3:47 in commute mode.
  6. Been off the bike for a week, plus today was my anniversary so wanted to be back early, so just did a short one. Did klap 2 PRs, the first one I’m still 2 min slower than LWB but finished 5th fastest for the day according to Strava. Second one is an incline outside my neighborhood, it’s the end of the ride so I normally cruise up, but lately I’ve been attacking it, today I’m fastest for the day according to Strava.
  7. Maybe they're reading this thread, or maybe they heard the agitation in my voice yesterday and made a plan, but I got a call a short while ago to say my new shoes have arrived at the shop.
  8. pretty much. If the legs dont feel tight when you walk it feels like something is wrong.
  9. I think I may need to start demanding my money back. we're heading to the end of week 3 since i took the shoes back. Todays excuse, the supplier sent them the wrong replacement shoe. When will I get my new shoes ? They cant tell me, it will come in with the next shipment from the supplier, and they dont know when that will be.
  10. and the reality is the mechy will probably only get max 50% of that rate.
  11. 11 IS an thing of beauty, but then my 6s still does everything I need, the only things I have against it right now are battery life, camera and speed. Oh and the fact that it wont be supported at the next software upgrade. then there is also the size, I love the size of my 6s, fits into my pockets nicely, anything bugger wont.
  12. Its the same way I see it, but when you have to go from paying R400 per month for 2 contracts to double or tripple that for just one contract it eats into the already tight budget. And I need to upgrade mine and the wifes phone. Granted she doesnt need as fancy a phone, but if you're going to upgrade it may as well be to a phone that will still be current in 4 years plus.
  13. My problem is I’ve been on a month to month contract with no device for so long and paying so little that now the cost of going to contract with device is making me ill. I’d love an 11 but will land up with an SE
  14. Getting prices off the net is like buying cheap meat and asking your local chef to cook it, and then complaining to him that its tough. You expect some sort of warrantee on the new parts fitted, so the LBS would then need to buy via approved channels, you'll probably find hardly any markup charged to you on those parts. Perhaps some of the stuff doesnt actually need replacing, but thats a conversation you need to have with the LBS, they will be able to assess the wear and tear. With fancy components comes fancy maintenance unfortunately.
  15. Still a better response than I got from the importer of a certain bib that has a lifetime warranty on it. Knowing my bib was well used I wasnt asking for a replacement when the chamois came lose, all I wanted was to know whether the chamois could be replaced or should I buy a new bib. Never even got an acknowledgement of email, let alone a response.
  16. yeah I think what he is describing are the factory fitter roof bars running the length of the vehicle. Bike racks wont fit on that, you'll need the cross bars. Those will be around 4k for a set of aero bars from Thule. Needing an M6 bolt its probably a Mazda CX5
  17. that I know. Stuck a new battery in in October to push its longevity a little longer. Started looking at upgrading 3 months ago, but the only deals I like are instore only at i-store, and everytime I go there there is a queue outside. So just have not upgraded yet. I realise this is probably the last software update that will support my phone.
  18. I think we need pictures
  19. Speaking of machines I know Nespresso is not highly regarded here, but a few months back I was buying pods and the wife asked what specials they had. At the time they had some special running where you bought x amount of capsules and got a new machine real cheap. I went for that option. Then did a test, my old machine vs the new machine, same coffee etc. The new machine makes coffee that bit better than the old one. Strange I know, but I've tried it a few times already.
  20. we'll drink these in a pinch, actually we normally buy a box of them when we go on holiday, but they are in no way as good as a coffee machine. My Mother in Law got very offended the one day when she offered me some or other coffee in a sachet thing that she thought was the best thing on earth and I told her I'd rather drink water. But it really was some awful stuff, I had tasted it before.
  21. just thinking about this now, what worked for me last time was to let it dry, then with a dry but rough grain cloth scrub it off. It came off rather easy when dry. Everything I tried whilst it was still wet (either with water or detergent) did nothing. Heck I had blades and scrapers and steel wool and nothing would get rid of it, but once it dried out and I rubbed it with a rough cloth it came off.
  22. yeah look, Tanked do it on a completely different level. It also helps that they have maintenance crews looking after those tanks for the clients. The little bit I know about aquariums is that they can get very maintenance heavy, especially when you go salt water.
  23. I've got a pair of anatomic longs that I bought probably 10+ years ago that do the same thing, thats why they're hardly worn
  24. or even just the shape / construction of the padding that might not be working for me
  25. Right, so here's me verdict. I've done a number of shorter rides, between 30min and 1 hour. The bibs are fantastic. As others have mentioned, they fit a little tighter than other bibs, but the cut is such that you dont look like a stuffed sausage in them. The silicone strip on the legs is wide but the material thin so its really comfy on the legs and holds well. Quality of materials and stitching seems really good so far and the bibs seem to dry rather quickly when washed in the shower. For what i bought these for, the shorter rides and mainly commuting they are excellent. But(t) I did a 2.5 our ride yesterday. At around the 1hour, 1:30 mark my butt started to hurt. Not from chaffing, but from pressure. Granted I was doing a long slow ride so my butt was firmly planted on the saddle, not much weight going through the legs, but it got rather uncomfortable. At about the 2hour mark I went down into the drops to put pressure on a different part of the butt and it did get better. Would I buy them again ? I probably would, but every now and then you can pick up some Ciovita Corsa's on special at the same price, I'd prefer to get those. Value for money wise the Vye bibs are great, well made and perhaps its just my combination of anatomy and saddle that doesnt gel properly with them on longer rides.
