  1. As it turns out its worth to someone was more than Eugene thought and slightly less than babse thought. Took a chance a listed it very high, slowly dropped the price as time went on. Sold it last night to a lady who was buying it for her son. Hope he has as many enjoyable miles on it as I did.
  2. I've done Rietvlei about 4 or 5 times and somehow always seem to miss large portions of it. Very poor markings from them.
  3. I cant find Pirellis Cinuratos in 28mm anywhere right now, and when I do they are stupidly priced or they have tanned sidewalls. So currently running a tube in the rear wheel
  4. I just could not get the login OTP to work for the bank appointment system. Tried for 5 days and then gave in. and ABSA banks are like state departments inside anyway, always queues and silly counters. We'll take snacks and drinks and entertainment just incase we need to wait a few hours.
  5. Out of desperation I landed up using the Branch Appointment booking system. I've made the appointments for Thursday, lets just hope that there are no queues for appointment bookings.
  6. yes thats why no pro riders ever have bike fits done
  7. sorry dont know bike so this might sound stupid, do you mix your own petrol and oil for these or does the bike do it for you ? Could be to much oil in the mix ? Usually the fuel:oil ratio stated is what the manufacturer deems correct for constant full throttle use.
  8. but then take that into account ad dont put bottle cage mounts on the inside of the triangle
  9. this in my opinion speaks to bad frame design. They've given you mounting points but have put zero thought into it.
  10. I was going to add a war story or 2 from my side, then realised I have way to many
  11. saturday morning I'm cruising along and I see a cyclist standing on the side of the road, slumped over his handlebars. It really looked like he was trying to recover from falling or something. So I slowed right down and start asking him if he is ok as I approach from behind. This is when he lifted up and bit to answer me and I see the camera resting on his handlebars, using them as a make shift tripod to capture the rising sun. Hope I didnt ruin his shot
  12. If you have a good set of Allen keys, I rounded 3 6mm Allen keys once trying to remove a stubborn pedal. All cheap rubbish Allen keys.
  13. Also what he said. took the pedals off my bike earlier today to inspect, and this method is how I remembered the thread direction.
  14. What he said, right pedal the right way, left pedals go the wrong way
  15. There no gusts, it was full on Cape Town style wind , bike cranked over 10deg leaning into the side winds
  16. hhahaha, so close.
  17. you're really milking the bovine puns there
  18. Nice vid. No music or talking just the sound of speed. Glad to see they showed a wipeout or 2.
  19. I dont think he wants to go the full TT bike route so I think this will work well. And if he doesnt enjoy it I doubt he'll lose to much selling again.
  20. ok well it looks like he is wanting to go ahead with this bike.
  21. ok it looks like some more info on the rider is needed. He has never had a proper fitting bike, always made do with what he could get. Different hardtails MTB, and over the last 10 or so years a cheap ill fitting road bike. He doesnt like to spend money. He has a bad back though, so something a little less aggressive is probably what he needs to get. He hardly ever rides in the drops (but that could also be the ill fitting bike). His goal is to do an ironman, so has been using a coach. Obviously input from her and the rest of the team has made him see the need for something a little better than what he has. Doesnt NEED carbon, budget was originally only R10k, but whatever he gets needs to last him 10 years, so the more modern the better. I think he will do well with modern compact gearing too.
  22. Recovery ride today.
  23. Thanks gents. He is not new to riding (we've been riding together since the late 90's), but like me is getting on in years, so a more compliant ride might be better. With the bike being in CPT and him in JHB a test ride is not an option.
  24. My cycling friend wants to buy a new road bike. I suggested to him to send me a link to anything that caught his eye and I would try and get more info. He sent me this link https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/591997/giant-propel-excellent-condition From what I can see the bike is circa 2014. But what bothers me though is the info I'm finding on the net shows this bike having more aero wheels and di2. From the pics it looks like its in good condition though. What say the hub ?
  25. transport and even a MTB is pretty easy to arrange, skills on the other hand ........
