  1. While we're (almost) on the topic: #Hi-Jack ON# I'm new to air forks, used to ride on a TORA but now on a FOX RL F100- how often do i need to service it? (km) Thanks #Hi-Jack OFF#
  2. Pretoria- Groenkloof never seem to have issues, however Fountains (next door) do have lots of gaps in the fencing (?) and is known for incidents, especially in the forrest sections. Only groups +5!
  3. Apparently not a beard- it's a "WIG"
  4. Right said Dangle- stole the words from my mouth "Perhaps the question to ask - is why is mtn biking such an elitist sport, excluding so many (expensive, needs "special skills" etc)" I started with a R1k bike and a R300 helmet- find me a cricket/hockey/tennis kit worth less...
  5. Hahahahaha! 10 out of 10 for humour Unfortunately 0.3 out of 10 for making any point whatsoever I like to think of road cycling like a SL55 AMG, mo3rse fast, effective, sleek, get it? And then MTBiking as Toyota Landcruiser Pickup, with a helluva turbo! Rough, touch, goes like sh!t on downhills and afterwards you can use the bonnet for the braai!
  6. Jip, don't steal from our economy- let our economy rather steal from us ( they're just better at it ) New stealing toll roads should be up and running soon!
  7. I'm with Santam. I'd like to keep all my stuff under one umbrella - so to speak
  8. Due South/Outdoor Warehouse/Sportsman's/any outdoor shop will have them. I got the Survivor logo on- looks crap but works great O ja, nothing but the original Buff- you'll see the difference after the 1st wash!
  9. Someone once said "you don't get advice on theHub"- only opinions. So contrarary to that- thanks a lot Drongo. It does cover races, but they never mentioned anything about components- so I'll have a chat. PS there are 4 Big Holes in Kimberley, of which 'the big hole' is the SMALLEST (although its the biggest MAN MADE hole). And yes, i work at one of the the other 3
  10. Actually that's the only reason why I was considering it. That and getting hit by a truck- AGAIN
  11. So my days as a careless student are gone- and now I'm supposed to be responsible. I recently got a quote from my broker for household insurance and I get a good discount if I add my bike to that list. I'm on a Spezzie Epic Comp, so it is worth something- still I'm not sure if its worth the R100 per month seeing as I take good care of it and have relocated to Kimberley- not really the gun capital of SA. What's the going rate for insurance on say, a R20k bike, and can anyone share experience where the claim was needed?
  12. If your planning on getting a TRIAL(s) bike- look no further than Inspired Bikes, or maybe a Zoo Otherwise, just settle for a TRAIL bike
  13. Cajees Princess Crossing - probably the worst customer service in the West Rand! West Rand Cycles - Will see me again soon
  14. For best advice, read top PS Trance!
  15. Black route- HUMBER HILL! njomp njomp njomp!
  16. I had a nasty fall about two years ago and lost a lot of skin in the process. It was made to like like a jigsaw puzzle with the skin that they harvested, so for a few months i had to make a plan. I went to the MotoX shop and bought myself FOX elbow guards, nothing too big- nice and comfy fit, and ended up using only the one on my messed up elbow. 3 months later, mister truck driver swerved into the shoulder of the road preventing an accident with a uno- but settling to hit me. Needless to say, if i wasn't wearing the guard, it might have been more than R38k the second time round. Two years later and all is well again, confident (and healed) enough to store the guard in the garage
  17. As tumbleweed said- its 4 years old, and by the looks of the specs, no upgrades either. I'd also say R1.5k and no more. If not, rather save up some cash for a new ride
  18. uhmmm Francois, ever heard of news24.com ? please discuss the above mentioned problems on their threads- you should fit in nicely there! This however, is a cycling forum- with cycling related topics. It happens to many of us in smaller races (even not so small races- like the Nissan Van Gaalens last year- 5 friends, 4 different distances) that the 20km/40km gets scrambled up. Gan help met die nuclear reactor as jy so sterk daaroor voel.
  19. When i get there (top 10/podium) i will tell you
  20. I'm familiar with the 'little stream' at fountains- but where exactly is the one in Groenkloof?
  21. It's like wearing a t-shirt and a poster saying "please note that i'm a cyclist"! Hahaha! loving this thread! "like the wheels into the pavements, so are the posts on our Hub"
  22. hehehe! not rocket science hey!
  23. HAhaha! Niiiiiiiice! (not that im fat, or skinny )
