  1. Great stuff man! ended up loosening the left side screw- took me just under 5 minutes to get it sorted! Thanks much!
  2. I dropped from 95kgs to a sorry 88kgs in the last 3 months seeing as i spent VERY little time in the gym! Hoping to get back to 98kgs before end September!
  3. Hahaha, allow me to do the last 2 lines in afrikaans: Die polisieman lyk geskok en vra die man:"genade meneer, waarvoor is jy bang?" Die man kyk die polisieman aan met glimlag en antwoord: "FOKOL!"
  4. Thanx a mil Carbon_Kooi! Will give it bash first thing in the morrow!
  5. Hi guys, I'm having trouble centering my avid single digit 7 v-brakes on my trials bike. The pad on the left hand side is about 4mm from the rim (perfect for me) but then the pad on the right hand side is already rubbing against the rim. what can i do to center it? I've already lubed the fixed points where the brakes are attached to the frame. Can i use washers as spacers? Any help would be great. Thanks
  6. No doubt! Felt it on the rocky climb at Groenies! Could never get my HT over that hectic rocky climb... Epic eases over it...
  7. I take all my newbie friends (roadies) to Fountains as part of the conversion program- yet to fail
  8. Just came across this, maybe check it out... knyber
  9. Included my bike with household + car insurance. R25k insured for theft, damage, training and races (NOT ABROAD!) for just under R100p/m (through broker - SANTAM). No experience with cyclesure, but search the hub and you'll find a rant (approx 2 months ago) about them not paying out. Otherwise MiWay gets good reviews. Good luck
  10. Ditto! The section where the iron pegs stood out (where the stairs used to be) i opted to hike my bike on the shoulder. Anywhere else you coulda pushed where needed

    Thumbs Up

Its been i while since your post- but anyway... Took my bike to Cycle Zone last week to repair the rear wheel, set gears and replace bushes on the rear pivot (latter was charged R1200 at a 'well known PTA frachise LBS' for the repair). Took my bike the monday afternoon, 4pm- got a call the next morning at 10am to collect it. Ali and Nick (mechanic) did a great job, charged me R200 for everything and even threw in a minor service and wash. Thats how it should be Thanks guys, you will see me again 4sure!
  12. Busy looking at this...
  13. Welcome TMobile! Good idea for a thread, but I'm a bit rude, so I just jumped on board Take nothing seriously here
  14. This is a great tool to use for maintenance and for the easier stuff- but believe me- after a seriously muddy ride (as mentioned- the Fountains trip) the rollers and brushes can't get into that little spaces. Tried and tested! Found wanting.
  15. Thanks for all the input Rouxtjie and Mampara. Just a little nervous for a chain break in this weekend's Lion Man. Will sort out all the spares before then
  16. See previous post pls
  17. Why only 9 speed cluster? And if the chain breaks during a race, can you fit a 2nd one? Do you need a chain breaker to pop out the existing pin in the chain on the side that didn't break? Sorry for all the Q's, but if not here then at the LBS
  18. my sincere appologies TNT1, Foolishly i only searched the Q&A thread, found the bike cleaning thread just now. Thanks for the power link post.
  19. Please don't just assume that i didn't search. Under key words 'chain+clean' and 'cleaning' and 'chain' there were no results that were helpful- much like you. Thanks for the advice gents, seems like i will be installing that powerlink
  20. Sorry for asking this- but I'm outa ideas... I've been MTB'ing for 4 years now, and before that BMXing for 7 years. In all this time i have not found an easy and effective way of cleaing my (the bike's) chain. The most effective so far was an old toothbrush and good old Sunlite liquid, but this takes forever. When i bought my latest steed, i decided to get a Park Tool chain cleaner system- set me back R600. The first few times i was impressed, but after a seriously muddy day at Fountains the chain cleaner is not that effective any more... What do you use? What is bad for the chain? What about high pressure hose? Thanks
  21. Keep the blue cables- maybe in 5 year's time the Bulls have sorted out their dinosaur problem, and the whole PTA will be gunning for that bike
  22. Nothing but(t) a Phenom 143 for me used it on my last 3 bikes
  23. Who says you cant?
  24. Okay, call me a nerd (caution- not to my face, can't always control mr. Thunder and mr. Lightning) but i find the spelling of GRAMMAR ironic
