  1. 3 times! Only 3 times! on fall number 3- start at 1 again
  2. I would not let my Luscious Letitia (dual susser) run on anything but knobblies. Nope- i will be running on "The Captain" and "FasTrak". I will also be the unshaven one
  3. Here's shot in the dark. If you kept the bike standard in good shape- it woulda went for R2500-R3000. Considering the upgrades to tubeless and recent fork service- i'd reckon somewhere around R4k would do it. Remember the bike is 4 years (almost 5) old, so do expect a big drop in market value. Hope it helps
  4. will let you know after the race- my first road race and will be on knobblies and in baggies!
  5. hahahaha
  6. Well done mr grown-up. Let's start off by saying that you have contributed nothing to this thread- troll. I on the other hand have identified a problem that a lot of weekend warrior mtbers on thehub experience- and gave a solution that has worked for me and a couple of friends that I have shared it with (GT1, Covie and SwissVan seems to agree). I feel sorry for you with your dissability/injury/problem and I am very glad that you are the best fitter in the world and sorted out your LBP by correct fitting. I am not a victim of any injury or dissability, i simply got LBP from riding long distances. I have been to 3 "fitters" who, like you, claim fitting the bike is the only sollution. It was not. I tried things my own way, gathered advice here and there- and what do you know- the problem is dissapearing. So, to sum up your post: You have sustained an injury. (read one of my posts on this thread- you are already excluded from my generalisation. don't play the victim- no one likes that) You are the best bike fitter in the world. (great for you. go to the classified section and advertise your services there- don't hi-jack this thread) You are good at name calling. (join the X-factor judging panel) You have spotted my profile pic. (i have no intension of remaining anonymous. i have made many friends on theHub and look forward to making much more. I'm here for sharing experiences and knowledge) I will let you off the hook with another: BOOM!
  7. Oi Suzi! I popped my first wheelie when you were still a dirty thought- just to sort that out. Back to the topic: unfortunately all your big and nice words are of no use since nr.1 and 2. already worked for me. You see, it's a lot like debating over a girl's looks. If you say a girl is not pretty, and I say she is, and I have a boner- you have lost your argument. Simple. Once again- here's a BOOM!
  8. Urban legend? I would love to agree with you- but what's the use in both of us being wrong?! As mentioned in my original post- steps 1 and 2 are remedial steps if the setup is ALREADY correct... I also exclude any back ache's caused by other injuries such as accidents and strains- so to sum it up, this is advice for "if your back doesn't hurt before a ride, but after say 20km it becomes worse and worse". BOOM!
  9. As I mentioned- 1 and 2 should only only be looked "assuming the setup is correct'. Many first time mtbers underestimate the importance, so i am 100% with you on this. It shoulda been 1.A.
  10. Depending one how strong your core is- the pics shows the simplest excercises. First lean on two elbows for a minute, then immediatly switch to left elbow for a minute- and then right elbow for a minute. as you get stronger- increase the times. Another great excercise is the ab-wheel, i think it's around R100 at any MR Price sport or Sportsmans', where you kneel on or knees outstretched with the wheel- and then pull yourself back up again. See this for better explanations...
  11. This question regularly pops up every few months or so- and I have figured it out, all be myself... The only reason for a lower back ache during long rides are the following: YOU ARE NOT FIT/STRONG ENOUGH. As simple as that. Of course that is assuming that you bike set-up is correct. Ever asked yourself why your back only starts aching after a while out on the ride? Well this is split into two sections: 1. CORE. You have to excercise your core every single day (if you're not a pro rider who's cores are always ) Once your abs and core muscles get tired- you lower back muscles start to compensate for them and that's whats causes the pain in your back. 2. Leg power. Your legs aren't strong enough to get power into the pedal and again you start getting into a rhythm using your lower back- much like doing standing bicep curls with a EZ bar when your ceps are tired- you start "swinging". I would not believe that my core OR my legs weren't strong enough- but after some time in the gym focussing on my core, things got a lot better, and I mean A LOT. This post is not for the pro's or the race snakes- as most of you are moerse fit and know how to train. It's more for the weekend warriors like me, to whom cycling is a very chilled out excercise but who likes to push themselves (too far) every now and then Peace, dL
  12. Recently bought this from a oke on theHub, new bars, grips and removed the gripsh!t it came with. Starting with the basics now- maar ek sukkel maar
  13. Aaag nee man, moenie so wees nie! Bring your MTB (or UniCycle then ) and we'll go for a race outride here in Kimberley! First 'track'-shouter gets a dual action pump up his assorta
  14. You said it all
  15. I think LeTurbo should also get himself a unicycle- sounds like another circus monkey!!! If you don't MTB, you've probably never been on a rocky PTA trail and therefore your opinion (on this topic) is like Malema giving wood work tips...
  16. Please read the posts before sounding like an idiot! "I was closing faster, he zigged in front on me, I went farming to avoid him" clearly means he was closing the gap on the monkey-wheeler on the downhill when the ape swerved infront of him. With you 100% on this one zaslinger, ek sou hom met my multi-tool gegooi het! etter!
  17. +1 If you see a bargain, buy it. if the guy is crazy- tell him or ignore him!
  18. I don't even drive on Hendrik Potgieter with my car! It's got one of the highest accident rates of the major roads in the area- scary ass place to ride a bike at night!
  19. thanks
  20. Where can i get them from?
  21. Thanks divernick, Did get a shifter/brake combo offer, just holding out for a stand-alone shifter, otherwise will get back to you!
  22. Did post an add, Drongo has got a shifter/brake combo, but I'll be visiting my LBS later on, thanks!
  23. Not looking to spend too much seeing as the casette is basically brand new... Just need to get rid of that flippen gripsh!t
  24. It really restricts my riding- it changes gears everytime i lift the front end, cant stand the ****
  25. So I recently bought a second hand entry level trials bike and for some or other reason the shifter was converted to a SRAM X7 gripshift. It's very annoying changing gears every time you bunny hop- so i'm looking to get a normal shifter. I'm having real trouble still finding a 8 spd shifter and i dont want to convert to single speed- what would be the consequence of using a 9spd shifter? Thanks
