  1. Why spoil the relationship?
  2. LOL! Knew you would climb out of your hole sooner or later!!! How's the new toy doing?
  3. LOL! So Cervelo copies my bike and then sells it for three times the amount! Glad I got the Canyon...
  4. Sorry, wearing white shoes might be illogical if you are a normal human being, but fof cyclists it is uber-cool. Worrying about your post count on the Hub is uncool to normal humans AND cyclists. Beeg difference...
  5. Just imagine using your wipers and the cleaning fluid getting in under sthose suction caps. Wipe, wipe, wipe, WOOOOSH, bang!!!!
  6. Good question. I would go for training wheel because it helps you zone your intervals a lot better. Especially the intervals above lactate threshold or very short intervals where HR usually lags. So I would go for training wheels if you have to pick one.
  7. From personal experience: I've had two Polar power meters and threw them away after lots of frustration (after initially working). Switched to PowerTap and very happy, but I would love to have the pedal based ANT+ power meter when it comes out and links to Garmins so that I can use any wheel I want! That's the only down side with the PowerTap
  8. The Bible is called "Training and Racing with a Power Meter" for a reason!
  9. colonel, is that you??? Man, it's like I had this exact same discussion two years ago before the colonel got converted to powertraining. Anyway, I have to agree with Edman that a power meter is for everyone. Just because it is expensive doesn't mean it only benefits the pro's. It keeps you honest, gives you a real baseline to measure your improvement in a way HR could never do. I can quote you loads of texts from experts (from aforementioned books), but do yourself a favour and read it yourself rather that trust my word because I know what a power curve is! I can only speak from personal experience (and thanks to the guidance/coaching of people like Ronelle and BikeMax) that training and racing with power is hugely satisfying and massively motivating. Your sincerely, non-Elite, non-pro, subvet league racer. (PS You will have to try much, much harder to see my power curve. It's mne to know, yours to guess )
  10. The best way to train! Also get Trainingpeaks software to analyse your data. It goes hand-in-hand with the book and then you can measure your TSS.
  11. Yes, the best for power training! ...and don't bother with Chris Carmichael's Time-Crunched Cyclist - could have been a one page article instead!
  12. Don't look at your average power, rather show us your power curve! That makes for interesting reading
  13. I'm considerng getting rollers, but with no resistance, can you do real power intervals? What kind of wattage can you reach on rollers?
  14. I did it on a compact with a 29 on the back and I was looking for more gears! Doing it with a normal crank is just nuts and a compact makes it barely doable. A triple crank makes sense if you ride in the Alps where you have real climbs (and you love your knees)
  15. Please do. Would love to see the pics that go with the great story!
  16. When it looks like this from Bedoin, you know you're in for a tough ride. The pic is of me at the top. Pity you can't actually see anything! The wind was so strong that my mates chain lube blew off his chain onto his legs. Had to hang on to the bike to keep it from blowing away and walk the first k down to Malaucene
  17. Man, it sounds like you had a great time going up the Geant de Provence!!! Well done! I also rode up their this year in an attempt to do it from all three sides in one day. I managed it once (from Bedoin) before the Gendarme closed the top due to the dangerous winds blowing guys off their bikes! Very disappointing to have to stop, but also a relief becuase it is an incredible climb. Would love to go back and do the triple for real
  18. Great that she is dedicated and loves her work, but if she wants to make money she should move to the private sector where they will probably appreciate her two degrees (btw, nobody pays by the degree), but please, what has that got to do with bike mechanics??? Absolutely buggerall if you ask me
  19. Who are you to bring persons into it? Inflamatory statement
  20. silly Capies
  21. White?! Respect, dude! I am a fan
  22. You honestly don't need to carboload for vets races! Just eat a proper breakfast and fuel yourself during the race. Dieting in a race is no good idea. You don't want to bonk. You could also skip the huge post-race "recovery" stuff, but even that is difficult if you want to train hard the next day. Personally I struggle to loose kilo's during a racing season. I manage to maintain my weight, but loosing weight and racing hard are almost mutually exclusive for me. I've taken my off-season (which starts now) to basically focus on loosing weight and having fun. By the start of the next racing season I want to be on, or at least close to, target weight otherwise it will be too late for me. I love my food too much and racing makes me hungry!!! Lost 6kg's in the last two months and still going strong without cravings.
  23. Only R2700? Man, that's like only half a titanium brake disk! Easy...
  24. Ordered loads from them, buit I live in Holland, so it's pretty easy for me. No tax issues, free shipping mostly (or very cheap usually) and delivered within a couple of days. I do also buy from other German and Dutch webshops which are often much cheaper, especially the German ones!!!
