  2. Those Maxxis Icon tyres with white writing that come with new Meridas and Scotts and other brands are super *** tyres that are only good for hangind up in your garage or selling on the hub. They got no protection whatsoever and a small piece of glass or a baby thorn will puncture them easily. OEM Tyres they are called 60 TPI . (They are not even good for running tubes never mind tubeless). Serious Bike Shops usually throw them out when you buy a new bike. Last year Kyalami Cycle Tech was selling them for 100 bucks each.
  3. If the paint has come off on the seat post or saddle rails. Repaint the affected surfaces.
  4. There are more cyclists now than ever before. Ask Makro
  5. They Should, I been there 2 Saturdays in a row and noticed less riders, say compared to last year.
  6. Those 2 bikes are very similar. Either will be good. I would take the Giant over the Merida. Maybe you should also consider a dual Suspension bike.
  7. Once you do a repair to a bike frame you cannot ever sell the frame or complete bike without disclosure to the prospective buyer. Something of this value is not worthwhile to fight in court except if the lawyer / (Law Firm) is working for free.
  8. It would be better to get longer bolts (if you can get them).
  9. If you have one of these bikes it might be a good idea to check if the BB is correct.
  10. People like to "put down" Suntour Components" When in fact it is decent Stuff. I have a Merida Kalahary MTB that has done 16000 km on a Suntour Drivetrain without problems, Chain was replaced at every 4 K but the Chainrings and Cassette are still original and it still goes fine. The same bike has a Suntour Fork as well, Which has never packed up and I just greased it myself every 4 K. It still works fine. The nice thing about XCR Forks is that you can service them yourself with just a bit of grease and cleaning. Suntour also has Top End Forks etc etc. The XCR Air fitted to the Merida 120 is a better fork than some of the Low end RockShox. For 20K it is a Low End Dual Sus but it will give you a good service as Merida is a reputable Supplier of Bicycles and even owns some of the top brands.
  11. The OP is using a Spinning Bike
  12. If you buying second hand horizontal (older) models are cheaper. Horizontal seems to be "older" technology. Scott spark changed from horizontal to vertical recently.
