  1. Good luck to the XCO racers in Les Gets getting sleep tonight after three Frogs on the Men's DHI podium. πŸ˜…
  2. Sweden is generally okay.
  3. https://live.lequipe.fr Edit: hmmm ... big old black screen. πŸ˜‘
  4. The Abominable Yeti was here just 2 hours ago. 😬
  5. None of the in-contention riders rode outside the markers. Others rode right on the boundary, but didn't cross it. Lecomte bypassed at least three on one lap, and again on a consecutive lap. Did she get an advantage from riding off-piste: absolutely yes. The grip on the comparatively fresh grass was significantly better; plus the drivetrain was far less likely to gunk-up. I'm happy for her with her win, she's clearly a remarkable cyclist, but I find it odd that none of the other medal contenders braved it beyond the markers (at least not on the iffy TV feed). @OVERDRIVE I watched the live feed on BBC iplayer.
  6. Erm ... aren't riders supposed to stay inside all the course markers?
  7. One of them is the benchmark. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  8. * Will a 3 or 4 bike rack have enough space between the bikes to fit 29" mountain bikes? A Thule 3-bike rack (Euroway, I think it is) works well with two 29ers and a gravel bike in my case * Is Holdfast a good alternative to Thule? Not in my experience, the Swede is a LOT better (for a range of reasons); specifically referring to more recent-model Thule racks (some of the ancient models are fiddly) * Recommendations for a good second hand bike rack market in Gauteng BikeHub Classifieds ... πŸ˜‰
  9. There is a perfectly good dirt road heading up where the map above says Goeverwacht; much shorter than driving via Piketberg.
  10. Awesome. πŸ‘Œ
  11. One thing I like about the Thule RTT is that it hangs over the side of the vehicle: shade during the day, and space for Thule roof box (check), kayak (check) or bicycle (check). Not sure where to jam the wife's kayak and bicycle in though ... πŸ˜†
  12. ... or did they discover alchemy with the Intense prototype. Both Gwin and Norton have abruptly 'found form' with the new frame. Seems unlikely to be a coincidence me thinks. Wouldn't DH be fun to have: One unusual race per season: somewhere strange in the Third World for example One uphill race per season Two race runs per event: one on your team bike, a second run on a one-design bike
  13. Great to see rubbers engaging with this, and @Andreas_187 awesome of you to help the guy. @Titan Racing Bikes this is a great opportunity to step up and help. 🀞
  14. Edit: It's going to get a LOT wore before it gets better (if it does get better). Plan for the mid-to-long term and start chipping away at being at least somewhat independent from Eskom. Something like a powerwall (container with reasonable size inverter and decent battery/ies, preferably wired to solar panels) can be a practical option for those who rent.
  15. I think it was a wise move from Hatherley to try outside: safe choice, no need to risk it all for one more position.
  16. He learnt that from the old man: Greg did that last year at Lenzerheide. πŸ˜‰
  17. @DieselnDust Confirmed she travelled to Costa Rica on her sister's passport.
  18. Did the sister give her passport knowingly (presumably yes, otherwise the authorities would have been on the hunt for a travelling using her passport). That another accessory to a crime.
  19. So let's hear @Roux 1's side of the story.
  20. Mind sharing a photo of the offending bit of plastic?
  21. @Yubbz Nothing broke. My old rack was over-engineered (and heavy) but priorly designed. Meaning mounting and removing it was a royal pain in the backside. The bikes (2) didn't really fit properly and you tended to watch the rearview mirror because the Trust Index was low. So I bought a renowned rack instead and sold the old one. New rack, made in the Northern Hemisphere, west of Ukraine, is an absolute pleasure to use and I even managed to find a torque-limiter (and lockable) clamp for a carbon frame. Quick and easy to mount to car, quick and easy to mount bikes and I have fait that the bikes will stay attached. Th extra money bought a sense of pleasure, instead of dread, when using it. Bargain.
  22. Can never go wrong with a reputable brand. It may cost more but it will almost always comfortably outlast the knock-offs (and be far more user-friendly to use). I saved a few bucks going with a second-tier rack once. Paid the school fees and went with a proper rack. Happy now and the extra few grand is long forgotten.
  23. More info on this please – can't find anything on any of their websites coming close to a lifetime warranty? πŸ˜‘
  24. Everyone got lost in the Veldrif Triangle. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  25. SAN Parks and CapeNature facilities are expensive (unfortunately). They have to be ... the big financial input from government is long-gone and Land Cruisers are expensive. Smile, wave, pay and enjoy the fact that these nature reserves still exist. πŸ‘ Thanks for the comprehensive write-up Chris ... I (now) have my eye on this one.
