  1. My wife generally only wears Assos stuff, but she rates Kalas (https://www.kalas.co.za) and Privateer (https://privateer.co.za/product-category/privateer/) very highly. Reasonably priced and of exceptionally high quality.
  2. Any preference for road or mountain bike? Look at the Classifieds here: you can definitely find a bike for around R12K. If you are in Cape Town consider speaking with Nils from Woodstock Cycleworks, he will be able to set you in the right direction.
  3. ^ Good luck riding that. A fair chunk of that is tar, a some hard pack/loose gravel (yay) and (at this time of the year) a a whole stretch of loose sand. Some of it on a no-cycling-allowed road road in the WCNP. Oh. And you have to cross private property. Twice.
  4. I think short-track is at 2115, with XC ladies at 1600. Gents? Just after the ladies. 😅
  5. No, as two separate parts inside same resealed plastic packet as the chain itself. @MORNE I hear what you are saying. I'm not that fussed about the package – just found it a little strange. But not engaging me when I specifically queried about it (yet, it's been 3 days) strikes me as a little tardy. 🤷‍♂️ Whatever. Move on. 👍
  6. Now 30 minutes short of waiting 3 days for a reply. None received. They don't care. I don't care. Whatever, shop elsewhere in the future.
  7. Entirely plausible explanation. I'll await the store's response. Just to clarify (again): what I find strange is that a packet (that semi-translucent difficult-to-tear plastic Shimano so often uses) has been cut open, then folded over and resealed with a store sticker.
  8. Yep. Waiting for feedback from store. 👍 No discount applies in this case. 😑
  9. Cheers @MORNE , even OEM kit comes in packaging that hasn’t been sliced open. 😉
  10. An online transaction doesn't involve an indecisive customer or a poorly managed salesperson.
  11. I see it differently. The chain is assumed to be new and unused. If you are happy to unknowingly pay for open-box goods then I am truly happy for you. I prefer to be given the choice.
  12. Hey, chains have all sorts of uses ... 😂
  13. I don't mind the not-Shimano box, that's absolutely fine with me. I do mind that the package had been cut opened and resealed. That's underhanded behaviour.
  14. 12-speed Shimano chain arrives inside a resealed (with CycleLab sticker) plastic packet. Once opened, the cut is clearly visible. 🤔 I'm sure it's fine: the chain is coated in the usual sticky stuff. But I'd prefer to get my online orders packaged in unsealed original packaging. Come on CycleLab, you can do better than this.
  15. Should be: just remember that SRAM uses DOT oil, Shimano uses mineral oil. So stick with Shimano stuff.
  16. This should work. Also highly likely to be used SLX (etc) sets in the Classifieds. Should be an easy and not-too-expensive repair.
  17. Ah! 🙈🤔🤕 Rookie mistake. 😂 4+ minutes it is. And no yellow jersey for Nino and Lars today. (He writes, spitting his foot out and wiping the egg of his face)
  18. 2 minutes 13 seconds deficit. That's after they clawed back around a minute after the puncture (and stopped for a new wheel). Hoping Beers/Blevins can power to an overall win though. 👍
  19. Nino had a rear puncture. And I reckon they'd be wearing yellow jerseys tomorrow afternoon.
  20. 2 hours of sleep, plus a Savanna? 😂 👍Good luck.
  21. Cannot imagine the worry. I wish Kooks the best of fortunes and hope for a good outcome.
  22. *Riders, quite right, not cyclists. 😂
  23. Ouch. That's going to sting a lot of people.
