  1. Have a 3-bike Thule rack. 3 bikes fit just fine. On my previous Holdfast rack I needed to adjust one set of gutters (or whatever the correct terminology ... the things that cradle the wheels) left, the other right to have handbags clear seats etc. The Thule is far more fluid in set up and the wheel ratchets can easily be adjust one way or the other to create adequate separation of the 2/3 bikes. I've been buying Thule stuff for over 20 years (roof racks, luggage box) and cannot imagine better designed and easier-to-use kit. Expensive as it is it last very well and is well designed and user friendly.
  2. Ask them who did the artwork for the poster and of you can ask graphic designer to print one more copy. Or, ask who has one and if you can get a high-res scan from it. This should be straightforward?
  3. Agree: tapering head suggest mole snake.
  4. I'm looking forward to the next instalment of this series. Read the WhatsApp messages (what was censored?). No, I do not believe Robert was unreasonable in the slightest way. He was courteous enough to draw Morné's attention to the discussion, where the man could have taken a golden opportunity to defend himself and his his fledgeling business. I know this: I will not have my bicycle serviced with anyone who broadcasts countless messages with zero care for structure and spelling (I get he is a second-language speaker, but FFS spell your own name right!). Robert, hope you come right.
  5. @Bundu Ric have you looked at the DC Rainmaker reviews? Pretty thorough and, if I remember correctly, he too says he prefers the Garmin (notably interface) but uses the Wahoo for reliable predictability compared to the ongoing Garmin's software/firmware niggles. In brief; Wahoo: no hassles, it does what you ask. Garmin: overpromises and makes excuses when it can't deliver. (*using up-to-date iPhone to connect devices)
  6. My wife’s perspective (she rides every day). Garmin 530: endless syncing problems and unreliable tracking. She loves the Garmin’s screen and interactivity. But the unpredictable nature of the unit is a constant issue. Wahoo Elemnt Roam: crap screen (poor use of colour capability, low-resolution), but switch it on and it works. Every time. The ‘zoom’ function works well. She’s sticking with the Wahoo, because it works like it should, ever time and removes the pre-ride frustration that the Garmin so often produced, but prefers the Garmin screen and playful interface. Hope this helps.
  7. Firstly welcome to Bikehub. Cycling is simply amazing and it's a fantastic way to get out there in the world and put something back into your no-doubt depleted body. Just one more thing about 26" wheels: this used to be the norm, until 27,5" wheels were invented which made everyone buy new bicycles. Same with 29" wheels. Larger wheels are good though: longer footprint, easier to roll over obstacles. But also heavier (more rim, more tyre). Many reckon that 27,5" wheels are the best compromise (but we all ride 29" ) It's possible to find pretty good spec old 26"-wheel bikes in the Classifieds (here on Bikehub) with reasonable good (if old) components (components are typically what drives up bicycle prices). How big is your budget, and remember you will need a little extra for helmet etc? EDIT Here's an example of an older but inexpensive bike: size Medium (which is what I'd imagine you'd need?) with reasonably good parts components. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/448850/mongoose-meteore-for-sale ... or in Small: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/451988/merida-tfs-500
  8. That's kief.
  9. Are you referring to the locking (or regular) Thule grips? Must be frustrating, hope you get your Speed back or at least have insurance cover the cost of a replacement (which we all know never happens – certainly not the full cost of one).
  10. There is an insane amount of wasted space on the vast majority of membership/race boards. If a few clubs and events can work together with even a half-wit designer they can surely come up with a adequate compact design with suitable mounting option that will fit most (MT) bikes.
  11. Privateer has Apidura. Cycle Touring has Revelate. Pricey though.
  12. I've bought 3 or 4 pairs of Oakleys over the years (as general sunglasses, not specifically for cycling). All of them had stuff peeling off the lenses.
  13. Loris Trekking to the new world?
  14. Okay. And the next obvious question is what is the perceived lifetime of the product?
  15. "Lifetime warranty", what does that mean?
  16. I realised i never fully answered your question. No issues with GPS at all (give it a minute or so to find them, after that rock solid). Elevation data is, I think, barometric (alongside GPS data); meaning much more accurate that GPS-data-only devices. The XL gives me gradient info (which it derives from your forward movement, so there is a slight lag) which is great (if useless) info on long climbs. The landscape screen orientation is fantastic: massive and clear numbers. As far as I know colour screens cannot (yet) match mono screens for clarity in sunlight (not that it bothers me, very happy with just black+white). The Mega XL also allows you to invert the black and white, so black screen with 'white' numbers (to go with that black bike ... ).
  17. I have a Mega XL and am very happy with it. It does what is says it should do (without three restarts and constant firmware upgrades ... cough, cough Garmin).
  18. The railway line (probably, strictly speaking, illegal) should be interiorly doable. Best part of it is probably west of Touws (read: tunnel). But I seem to recall an east-west dirt road beyond the southern ridgeline; this is likely a fantastic route for a mountain bike (or gravel bike). Correction: I see the road south of Matjies doesn't go all the way to Touws. But there are farm roads off this route that can reach Touws ... depending on how adventurous you feel.

There was one earlier this year. LINK
  21. My wife ordered a bib from them: arrived and it's hopelessly asymmetrical (as in cut skew). Still comfortable and usable ... but wondering where QC was on that day.
  22. How do they compare to Gravel Kings?
  23. Congratulations to Deprela for the Overall. rain.
  24. Different course today.
