  1. Workshop clamp? Bike rack? (Or only) paint damage? Seems like a strange place for a crack to form from simply riding it.
  2. Of course there is! How else will Shimano convince you to buy version 2 (and 3, and 4)?
  3. Try and find one first.
  4. Mine is a Euroway. I went for that because I am a cheapskate. The Euroway's hitch clamp is: Lift Position on hitch Close (and lock if you like) Couldn't be easier. Could be lighter though, and might be worth comparing the Euroway weight against that of the VeloCompact. And judging from the pictures it looks like sliding the tyre grooves out will be easier with the VeloCompact (which has handles for that purpose). Not convinced that's worth R2000 though. But then again I am a cheapskate.
  5. Spot on. One hiccup: placed an order (a expensive one) for an item that agent claimed was in stock. It wasn't. Still isn't. No gripes though, this pandemic has affects on all of us and our businesses/employers. My praise is for exceptional handling of the chaos from Evobikes and Bike Addict. Good, honest, personal service.
  6. As we all know it's a crazy time. Issues with suppliers getting (enough) stock. Issues with customs releasing stock. Couriers. Red Tape. Lots of talk about folks not getting what they paid for or, at the very least, not promptly. Fair enough: our bicycle stores must be experiencing unprecedented online growth in recent weeks. One store here in the Cape, fulfilling a small order, emailed a personal apology when said order had not been delivered a mere two days after placing the order. And it arrived the very next day. Evolutionary. Another Cape store phones to clarify what appears to be a compatibility issue with an order (it was). And just to make that clear: this happened at 9 PM. PM. I'm Addicted to this level of service.
  7. Apparently you get what you pay for.
  8. Whatever, you rebel you.
  9. Move to Somalia. No rules and laws to interfere with your superiority there.
  10. I hear there is an airline going cheap-cheap.
  11. @Super Sywurm It's happened. Never really believed it would, but I am turning into one of those office idiots that never ready beyond the first sentence of a communique. That's it, my working life is over. No more email for me. I'm going for a ride with my brand new BIKE MESSENGER cycling top (order yours at www.hahaha-ride-when-you-want.biz)
  12. From which site/store? *Edit: asking to use said store for bits and spares, certainly no intention of naming/shaming etc (why the hell we can't order stuff online is beyond my brain's capacity to reason).
  13. You put a balaclava on, you go into the bank and you ask for money. It's really no big deal. Three or four days later the police will let you go home (but they keep the cash).
  14. Remember when we were in school and one little (w) anchor spoiled it for the whole class? It's like that. Why compromise the little we have?
  15. Because you may have COVID-19 and not know it. The point of you wearing a mask is – largely – to protect others. Plus you are compromising our temporary right to exercise outdoors. Don't be selfish.
  16. South Africans are a bunch of a-holes. A minority wearing masks today, far less so than yesterday. I can only hope people get arrested long before DZ pulls the plug on outdoor exercise.
  17. The Zwift web developer is on an extended holiday. The Elite Suito, which comes with a free 1-month Zwift subscription, is not listed.
  18. We can't have alcohol because it taxes hospitals. It's as simple as that.
  19. @Eugene mind elaborating on the founder of Trek, I find the South African connection quite interesting (but my Google-zu leaves me high and dry).
  20. Theoretically the longer the (within reason) lens the less the distortion. Assuming you have a half-decent camera body and lens something like Lightroom will recognise the lens and can automatically correct distortion, vignetting etc. If Lightroom (or similar) doesn't recognise your camera/lens then you can adjust manually. If you have more than one flash then have them face backward onto a light featureless wall. This will send soft and mostly highlight-free light back to the map (assuming you shoot the map on a vertical surface). Nasa uses plain DSLRs to 'scan' their medium-format negatives and positives (rather than an actual scanner). Of course maps require much higher ceilings ...
  21. Or back light.
  22. How many mountain bikers use their bikes to its full potential? Very few, I'd think. Southern Africa is literally criss-crossed with perfect gravel roads. Millions of kilometres of them. A road bike is obviously not the best choice of tool for district (or worse) roads, a mountain bike is good but perhaps overkill. The gravel bike is near perfect. Plus you can tuck in when there is wind or just enjoy the many different hand positions for relief. They weigh little, have tough wheels and very decent brakes (if hydraulic) and are pretty cheap to maintain. Get a second set of wheels and skinny tyres and you have a pretty reasonable CTCT machine as well. What's not to like? And no, you don't have to grow a beard and drink yuppie coffee.
