  1. yo!!!! JB!!!! please confirmt hat you were using a hands free kit!!!!! to put it very simply, the wheel, when attached to the vehicle, has a downwards weight on it - and as such it gets "slowed down" by this downward pressure. as soon as it's released the gyroscopic forces remain the saim but the downward pressure (causing friction etc) is gone so it accelerates. but then, because it is no longer being turned it will slow down
  2. yep - time to name and shame
  3. Not that easy captain...... You first have to prove that you can hang on to a van at 80km/h AND drink out of your water bottle. Trials are this Saturday. We have organized a special guest driver' date=' BEEE. [/quote'] and you forgot to mention that you also have to deal with the likes of ewep trying/wanting to join.....
  4. baby potatoes work wonders - boiled and seasoned to taste in a bag in your pocket
  5. andre ct, it depends - if the driver has buddies in the police then it'll take forever - they'll say it's not a vlid number or something
  6. http://www.tbforum.co.za/forum/showthread.php?t=22361 they agree - gotta find the effer
  7. pop a pump in their spokes as you/they ride past
  8. owwwwww, that looks eina. i am so glad that you are basically ok though - cuts heal and bikes can be replaced but people can't i hope the effer gets caught and shares a cell with Bubba or one of his brothers. but that is unlikely, so i really really hope that karma catches him and deals out appropriate punishment to him.
  9. wow - def a buddy to keep around so you can figure out a way to "pay him back" once you've repaid the actual debt. there are some stars around and a lot of those are cyclists.
  10. and don't stick only to ladie's saddles - i have yet to find one that is comfy for me - i personally adore my fizik arione
  11. nic, thanks for coming on here and telling your side, but now please let us know if you do need help with any of the costs (eg if any unforseen extra costs not yet covered arise) cos thehubsa will help you out - as you can see above
  12. well said mallo nic deserves better than this utter complete disgrace from CSA's side
  13. Mileies, i agree 100% with Captain Slow. This is not something to mess with. anytime your resting HR is up by more than 5bpm go straight to the doc.
  14. she sure looks happy!
  15. jedimastersa, the suggestion of borrowing a bike first is the best idea. bicycles lose value from the second you pay for it at the shop. and the thing is if you start wtih an entry-level bike "just in case" then it (a) reduces the chance of her really loving it and (b) if she does love it anyway then she will want a nicer one much sooner. so corrow a bike for a ride/weekend or two and take it form there
  16. flemish, i have a cbr400 and an sv650 - both capable of speeds well in excess of the speed limit - but i have no urge to go ride at crazy speeds around blind corners (eg the "twisties" in ET/mpumalanga area) or on busy public roads bruce, what bugged me about that incident is how his buddy (in the original edited/removed post) was essentially bragging about the speed they were riding and described the details of the accident and injuries explicitly! how the heck would the poor widow feel if she'd read that? when you get a beast like this please keep speed and stunts for safe environments (ie track or deserted roads) and go for proper training and remember that there are people who love you and will miss you if you mess up.
  17. should be ok, but just make sure that if the worst comes to the worst you crawl/get dragged to the Graskop "jurisdiction"... the Sabie clinic has NO facilities - no xray equipment, no dispensary for pain meds, no vending machine for peeps waiting for news about the patient, etc. I could give a full run-down on the atrocious conditions those poor staff have to work in but suffice it to say if i ever need medical assistanc eout that way i'll crawl the whole friggin way to nelspruit before i climb into the Sabie ambulance, and that says something seeing as the Nelspruit docs scr3wed up big time too. sorry to be a "downer" on this thread but experience taught a couple of us a serious lesson just ride safe please, whatever you do, cos help is NOT close at hand.
  18. MTBaaisiklist, you gonna join TB and start marshalling too??? can i take her for a quick spin? (don't worry, i'll take good care and give her back... just a quickie to Sabie or Clarens and back...)

    LBS Tantrum

i'm 100% with KDEE on this. HR - valid point re asking but trust me ont his, the shop in question is NOT the best place to ask cos their answer would be along the lines of "oh it's easy - you can't go wrong" and not one more word about it. i know this cos i once went to them for mtb tubes and asked for schraeder and got told "tubes are tubes - they're all the same, here you go"!!!!
  20. eish pedal - that is not good news (that jnr is hurt) hope he heals up soon.
  21. omg - i want a new bike!!!!!!!!
  22. strongs to the rider and big to whoever managed to catch the perps. just a pity the effers will most prolly walk away scot-free.
