  1. And ODI are made exclusively in the US? No ways they are shipped to the east and then resold back the west at 1/3 the price.
  2. The fork has 1inch steerer tube with thread and the headset uses that thread to tighten the whole thing down. They were notorious for coming loose after almost every trick and you'd have to hand tighten it before the next one. The stem is then inserted into the fork and tightened with a wedge. Aheadset is like all bikes now. The stem is tightened by the top cap and pulls the headset together.
  3. That's old school as it has a 1inch threaded steerer tube and quill stem. "mid school" would of been Aheadset. Youtube should be the answer to service that.
  4. Hi. James here from Dragons Sports (Giant SA). I reached out to Giant yesterday and here's the reply. We did inform a caller yesterday that the units were discontinue 4 or 5 years ago and the servers might of been shut down, but Giant has confirmed and given options to continue using the units. Sorry about this. Dear James, Since NeosTrack and NeosGPS were discontinued in 2019, and our APP has been faithfully serving for six years after that. However, with the rapid advancement of software technology, the existing NeosTrack APP is no longer compatible with our backend systems. After careful evaluation, we have made the decision to officially terminate the NeosTrack APP service on December 31, 2025. Important reminders: • Rider's riding data remains fully preserved in NeosTrack and NeosGPS unit • Please connect the NeosTrack and NeosGPS units to the PC to download the riding data (.fit files) • And recommend uploading the data to third-party cycling platforms or storing it safely on your personal computer • All APP backend data have permanently deleted after service termination and cannot be recovered. Additional Support: To assist you with this transition, I will be preparing a comprehensive guide on: How to download riding data from your NeosTrack and NeosGPS computer and step-by-step instructions for uploading data to third-party cycling platforms such as Strava. I deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused by this service change, thanks.
  5. Get hold of Koos at Koos Tricycles in Wellington. He makes and mods bikes for people with disabilities.
  6. Giant South Africa managed to secure some frames of the last Alu model and have them build up with a mid range kit. Might be a good option or at least a jumping off point for a custom build" https://www.dragons.co.za/giant/mtb-performance-bikes/giaan29cust-anthem-29er-custom
  7. That isn't the original dropout on there.
  8. I've been here for a couple of work events. Top notch place. Great trails around there.

  14. Giant stopped making Alloy Anthems 3 yrs ago. 2021 was the last year model. Giant SA has some custom built version that stores can order. Spec isn't great but it's a good platform for upgrading on a budget. https://www.dragons.co.za/giant/mtb-performance-bikes/giaan29cust-anthem-29er-custom
  15. And they'll be one at Mello Velo later today.
  16. You can go see it at Olympic Claremont tomorrow.
  17. Basically what they did was package the wheels in this box and the frame/groupset etc in that box and shipped them together in the same container and claimed "we aren't importing bikes" hoping to dodge the 15% duty. Most times they're even marked "Box A" and "Box B". There's no expert needed here. They tried and got busted. Simple really.
  18. When a new bike is bought from a dealer the 1st owner is effectively paying a portion towards the warrantee. Numerous people get paid from the sale of a brand new bike. You can track that all the way back to the person in the factory cleaning the floor. When someone sells a 2nd hand bike to Joe Public no one else gets a cut of that, only the seller. No brand gets anything from the sale of 2nd hand bikes, besides warrantee claims. So why should Joe Public, buying at a heavy reduced price, get the benefit of having a warrantee and expect some sort of remedy/replacement from the bicycle brand if/when something goes wrong on said discounted, used bike when he's not paying for it? When thinking, "should I buy new or 2nd hand?" the first "con" of buying 2nd hand is always the warrantee, no matter what you're buying (besides cars for some reason).
  19. I'm using a 26in Avalanche Luna-e. Retails around R24k and zero problems. easy cruise along at 32kph and around 25kph into that early morning South Easter from Table View. Super maneuverable and does the job. Can even go for a proper MTB session if you want. Laughs all the way past traffic.
  20. These are all the Giant pedals available in SA right now. https://www.dragons.co.za/giant/gear/?per_page=30&sort_by=1&filter[custom1][0]=PEDALS
  21. Do you need everything that's in the photo or only certain parts? the lever and pin are found in other top caps and are interchangeable. It's only the actual screw in cap that is size and thread specific.
  22. Giant has some great on bike options for tools: https://www.dragons.co.za/search/clutch/0/1/1
  23. Giant has some great offerings right now. You should look into those too.
