  1. That Lyrik you are running is a sweet fork. I’d try find a new damper for it and send the other one away to be rebuilt. The new Lyrik appears to be a lot more progressive and not as comfortable as your version.

  3. That sounds like a porky pie to me
  4. Gold mags and a massive spoiler or you are not legit
  5. Share your setup then. Height, weight etc. You can lol all you want, but tyres are one part of the equation. That bike runs possibly the worst fork ever made as well as a very basic shock. If the pressure and sag aren’t correct then new tyres will do bugger all to help
  6. 140 what? PSI? Bar? Using a proper pressure gauge or the one on the pump. You still haven’t said what tyres they are not have you answered my question about your suspension setup. Seems you just want to drop some money on tyres without making sure they are the root cause of your problem
  7. You are also a “groot seun”
  8. You shouldn’t have to run the tyres at such low pressure to get traction. Try 1.5 up front and 1.7 out back and see how it goes. Out of curiosity have you set the pressures of the suspension front and rear at all to get the proper sag numbers?
  9. Yes, but to be fair that particular rock at Thaba is a known destroyer of wheelsets. Even South Enduro wheels have been killed by it. I should have known better 🙈
  10. 1.1 bar is way too low. That is a heavy bike with soft alloy rims, so wonder they are getting dinged. Need to be at least 1.5 bar and up (depending on your terrain and desired feel). Assuming you are on the SE5 or SE6 Bontrager tyres, get them at the right pressure and go ride. If they sold you the XR5, those tyres are too thin for an e-bike so a tougher set of tyres is a must IMO. Personally I went for the Maxxis Assegai in the DH casing for my Giant Trance X E+. The beefy casing and soft rubber means I have grip for days and don’t need to worry about punctures or dinging wheels.
  11. Go for a direct mount trainer like a Wahoo Kickr Core. There are several second hand in the classifieds. The wheel on trainers are pretty swak in my experience
  12. Hit Tranquilitas last week for some shuttles. Also did the spectacular Trail X.
  13. Ride there fairly often. Drop me a WhatsApp when you keen to go. Asidlale is also close for you
  14. Eddie! Is that you?
  15. I see a certain Merida is for sale. Has a suitable replacement been identified?
  16. Did a sub 3 hour Ride Joburg 947 this year on a Giant Revolt with 32c slicks. May have been a little quicker on a dedicated road bike, but probably not by much. The fatter tyres did a great job absorbing the rough tar and occasional pothole on the route and the more relaxed geometry kept me comfortable throughout the day.
  17. Try your local Giant dealer. The Giant distributor (Dragons Sports) distributes Suntour locally and should be able to help with a service kit.
  18. Yup, Evert. He is a proper gent
  19. Same dude as @Danger Dassie mentioned
  20. Are you in JHB? If so drop me a PM and I'll share details of a gent who will come to you and do a complete custom wrap for your bike.
  21. Going to get that made into a sticker for the bike!
  22. Joined the Bin Chicken nation. Can’t wait to get this beast out on the trails this weekend
  23. Please take these concerns up with the organisers and make them aware of the problems. We are all aware of the challenges faced by all of us living in the country we do. For my part, I think the venue and route are pretty spot on. There is realistically nowhere else that can accommodate an event like this.

    947 Ride Joburg

Those “car guards” are bloody vultures. One of them tried it on with me. Told him to sod off

    947 Ride Joburg

Lekker day out on the fiets. Started in I group and found a top bunch of guys to work with right from the beginning. Managed a sub 3 hour so I am super happy!
