  1. Thanks @DieselnDust and @Danger Dassie. Just met Kim now. Foot is measured and sizing is confirmed. Apparently I have slenderAF feet, so Kim is digging into the stocks for something to fit me. The shoes I tried felt really good though. Had no idea what arch support felt like until today
  2. Great result for Alan! Now, will all the local Epic owners be upgrading to Scalpels? Asking for a friend 😆
  3. Sweet. That makes it super easy for me. I'll speak with Shaun to set something up
  4. Hi all I'm keen on getting properly fitted for a decent pair of road cycling shoes. The Lake brand comes up again and again as the ones to go for. I'm pretty much sold on giving them a go, but I'd like to buy them from someone who will fit me properly and can help with my tragically high arches as well. Can anyone point me in the right direct to someone in JHB who can help. The website for Pure Motion Sports, who seemed to be the last distributor is dead and the local Lake site doesn't seem to have been updated for ages.
  5. Name change to 'Yon incoming?
  6. Yeah, it was on my to do list as well. Ibis requested it go to one of their dealers so I'm happy it was diagnosed, and it is hopefully fixed. I also just want to give a big thank you to William. He is the best example of how you run a bike shop I have ever dealt with. Communication before, during and after has been top class. Explained what he had found on the bike, how he fixed it, was super understanding and I never had to follow up once.
  7. Bike is on the way back to me. Turns out the Cane Creek lower headset cup was to blame. New one installed and fits 100% flush
  8. If the bike still has the DH tyres fitted they will also suck plenty of battery life
  9. this video is the best Stumpy Evo review from a guy who rides some gnarly terrain
  10. They are 100% legit. Bought several items from them
  11. Even me! I'll get the bike to William after the 18th of the month and report back once the work has been done
  12. @440MTB what bike is it? I had a Knolly Fugitive for a year which was stupidly low, even with 165mm cranks I feared for my life any time I leant the bike over or went near any rocks.
  13. Thanks @DieselnDust. Morne put me in contact with William's bike shop.. I spoke with William and he is confident he can sort the issue. Ibis has committed to a new frame if it can't be done. Feeling a lot less stressed about this now
  14. Adventure Inc supplied both frames via Ibis. Chris has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. He's away at the moment, so I'm in limbo until he gets back.
  15. They are the ones asking for it to be faced
  16. It's actually the warranty replacement of a new frame bought in November last year. The original frame's head tube surfaces were not parallel
  17. Pic of the issue below. Headset is a Cane Creek 40 with a ZS56 lower cup. This is causing, from what I can work out, some clicks and clunks as the misaligned bearings seat and reseat
  18. Used GX Eagle 165 on my last 3 bikes with no issues. Your other option is Hope, but they are pricey
  19. Hi Everyone I'm looking to get a recommendation for a bike shop or engineering works or whoever would be able to face a headtube on a carbon bike. Long story short, the lower headset cup won't press in flush with the frame. I'm in contact with the manufacturer in the States who have suggested that facing the lower headtube will fix the issue. They are willing to do it over there, but that will probably cost the earth in transport and leave me without a bike for quite some time. If there is a someone in SA who can do it with the guidance of the manufacturer, I'd much rather keep it local. I have approached Carbon Bike Repair to see if they would help, but they rejected my request out of hand and said it is a warranty issue. I'll try and explain myself a bit better to them and see if they change their mind, but having options would also be great
  20. They come in 126 links from what I can recall, so will likely need to be cut to the correct length
  21. I'd go for a KMC 12 speed chain. Great quality for a bit less money
  22. You can use any 12 speed HG cassette on the Kickr with no worries (shameless plug: I have one listed in the classifieds that I used with my MTB for a while). The Zwift cog and click will work, but you will need to swap the parts off the freehub body that the cog is installed to in order to make that work on a Kickr. (Strangely enough I have a cog and click I am considering selling). Either way you do not have to buy a new bike to make your setup work
  23. For technical trails, head out to Thaba Trails in Joburg South, but pack your sense of humour. Wolwespruit in Pretoria is also worth checking out. There are also the Gauteng Enduros, which are well worth doing. There is actually one coming up in early August at B'Sorah trails out past Hennops. Have a look on Facebook or Instagram for the Gauteng Cycling Gravity pages for more info
  24. If @Bira does not take them, I am keen for them
  25. Strugglebus at Suikerbosrand
