  1. Hi All I'm off to Clarens on Friday for the Amohela Classic. I've always taken the Reitz route, but when we went two years ago the road was under construction. I'd like to know if it has been completed or if travelling further down the N3 is the better bet
  2. I'm on shipment number 4 with AGS for the year and have had no issues with SARS. (touch wood)(
  3. There is a Chinese address in Shanghai
  4. You get access to their local addresses for wherever you are buying from. So if I buy something in Germany I buy it as myself with local billing address, but with the AGS German address and they forward to South Africa
  5. Maybe I'm really clever, but I'll take grip, confidence. puncture protection and not crashing over saving a few grams
  6. @MrJacques those clips need to co on the actual caliper bolts. They've got nothing to grip on the adapter bolts and are likely to fall off
  7. That story reminds me of 3 hour struggle with a chain I had with a KTM 250 the day before a race. That horrible episode is why I have a rule which is to never work on a bike the day before a race besides lubing the chain and checking the tyre pressure
  8. If you think that is an insult then I think you need to grow a thicker skin 😳
  9. Just bear in mind the new Top Fuels are long bikes. Both in reach and effective top tube length. Try and ride both sizes before you buy
  10. Sign up with Global Shopper and you get a German address. You buy the item using the German address and have it shipped there. They then forward it to South Africa, bypassing the restrictions Never had an issue with Aramex. Usually 10 days from order to delivery. Much better than SAPO, which could be as little as a week or as long as 6 months.
  11. Bike24 and Aramex Global Shopper are your friend
  12. Freight forwarder and German online bikeshops FTW! If I need something I get it, I won't be held to ransom by any local supplier
  13. If it is a towbar fitted by VW, take it back to them and get it sorted. If it is a non-VW towbar fitted by someone else, take it back to the fitment centre to be sorted
  14. Congrats on the new bike. Fork and brake levers are all that is needed IMO. The stock fork will get overwhelmed quickly in the rough stuff, so a Pike, 34 or Z2 would be on my upgrade list. As for the brakes, a set of Deore 6120 levers with the stock 4 piston calipers and you sould be good to go. The stock rotors won't work with sintered pads, which are also a good upgrade for more power.
  15. Think a Trek Fuel EX might also be worth a look. Much closer to the travel numbers you are looking for than the Top Fuel.
  16. Sorry, not sorry, e-bikes are boss
  17. DIY, it is easy enough as long as it is only the rim wall and not the rim bed.
  18. Get Stoked distribution should be able to help. Also seen Formula service kits on EvoBikes site
  19. After a couple incidents at Wolwespruit I can categorically say this has nothing to do with whether the machine involved is a bike or an e-bike, but rather whether the person on top is a twat or not
  20. Whether you diy the job or get your LBS to do it, pop the seal of the bearing and pack it with some waterproof grease and then replace the seal. That will help a lot with improving the bearing longevity
  21. Nope. Campenaerts has run it a few times as has Unno-X. No team is running it full time
  22. I do mine every 6 months at minimum. I've also found having the correct tools for the job makes things so much easier.
  23. Have the same kit for Shimano usage. Worth the price of admission
  24. If it ain't broken, don't fix it! I still struggle with that one.
  25. Also replacement crush washers, a syringe to inject the oil into the lowers and some foam washers. You will also need the Fox Teflon oil (or substitute) for the damper leg, unless you are running a Fit4 damper. The foam washers can be cleaned with brake cleaner, but I have never ever got them squeaky clean, so I tend to replace them. Any dealer should be able to get the Fox stuff through Omnico and the SRAM butter through Cape Cycles
