  1. Even me! I'll get the bike to William after the 18th of the month and report back once the work has been done
  2. @440MTB what bike is it? I had a Knolly Fugitive for a year which was stupidly low, even with 165mm cranks I feared for my life any time I leant the bike over or went near any rocks.
  3. Thanks @DieselnDust. Morne put me in contact with William's bike shop.. I spoke with William and he is confident he can sort the issue. Ibis has committed to a new frame if it can't be done. Feeling a lot less stressed about this now
  4. Adventure Inc supplied both frames via Ibis. Chris has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. He's away at the moment, so I'm in limbo until he gets back.
  5. They are the ones asking for it to be faced
  6. It's actually the warranty replacement of a new frame bought in November last year. The original frame's head tube surfaces were not parallel
  7. Pic of the issue below. Headset is a Cane Creek 40 with a ZS56 lower cup. This is causing, from what I can work out, some clicks and clunks as the misaligned bearings seat and reseat
  8. Used GX Eagle 165 on my last 3 bikes with no issues. Your other option is Hope, but they are pricey
  9. Hi Everyone I'm looking to get a recommendation for a bike shop or engineering works or whoever would be able to face a headtube on a carbon bike. Long story short, the lower headset cup won't press in flush with the frame. I'm in contact with the manufacturer in the States who have suggested that facing the lower headtube will fix the issue. They are willing to do it over there, but that will probably cost the earth in transport and leave me without a bike for quite some time. If there is a someone in SA who can do it with the guidance of the manufacturer, I'd much rather keep it local. I have approached Carbon Bike Repair to see if they would help, but they rejected my request out of hand and said it is a warranty issue. I'll try and explain myself a bit better to them and see if they change their mind, but having options would also be great
  10. They come in 126 links from what I can recall, so will likely need to be cut to the correct length
  11. I'd go for a KMC 12 speed chain. Great quality for a bit less money
  12. You can use any 12 speed HG cassette on the Kickr with no worries (shameless plug: I have one listed in the classifieds that I used with my MTB for a while). The Zwift cog and click will work, but you will need to swap the parts off the freehub body that the cog is installed to in order to make that work on a Kickr. (Strangely enough I have a cog and click I am considering selling). Either way you do not have to buy a new bike to make your setup work
  13. For technical trails, head out to Thaba Trails in Joburg South, but pack your sense of humour. Wolwespruit in Pretoria is also worth checking out. There are also the Gauteng Enduros, which are well worth doing. There is actually one coming up in early August at B'Sorah trails out past Hennops. Have a look on Facebook or Instagram for the Gauteng Cycling Gravity pages for more info
  14. If @Bira does not take them, I am keen for them
  15. Strugglebus at Suikerbosrand
  16. Thanks everyone. Now all I need to do is convince my riding pal to NOT bring his MTB or he is going to have a very slow and lonely ride
  17. I agree 100%. A Top Fuel is the way to go whether it is alloy or carbon. I have had one since 2021 and have over 6000km on it. I have done marathon races, bike park, easy trails and even enduros on that bike. It is simply a great allrounder, which seems to tick the boxes you are looking for. As for brand support, Trek has helped me with a seized BB and a smashed carbon wheel under warranty, so questions asked. All I needed was my invoice to prove I was the original owner. I also managed to break a suspension mounting bolt a few days before a race and their Head Office sorted me out with a new one free of charge. There is stock available, examples of the one model I would suggest. Speak nicely and maybe they will discount to get it within your budget, especially as the 4th gen model is arriving next month. 2023 Trek Top Fuel 9.7 – biket.co.za 2023 Trek Top Fuel 9.7 - Hex Blue – biket.co.za I would also suggest that the Giant Trance 29 would be a great option, but no dealer seems to have them, and Giant's local distributor seems to be pricing the Trance 29 at premium levels for a mid-spec bike (I am a Giant fanboy, so this does hurt me). The previous gen Specialized Epic Evo would also be a great option. I know a couple of people who have them and love them, though I cannot comment on the ownership experience in terms of backup etc Feel free to drop me a PM if you want any further info about the Trek
  18. Planning on heading to SBR this weekend. Can anyone confirm if the reserve is open?
  19. They are 100% legit and offer good service
  20. Used Aramex Global for a deal off the Pinkbike classifieds. Worked like a charm
  21. Wonder how long before the riders and soigneurs strip their moers for those bottles
  22. For the 4DP test there is no resistance. You use your gears and legs to put out as much power as possible without going bang over the 4 "Tests" in the hour
  23. That 4DP test is evil
  24. Have a look at the Syncros Tailor bottle cage. Scott dealers have them. They can be setup for left or right hand use and are angled towards the applicable side. See pic below:
  25. Ordered via Zwift site and sent to SA via Aramex Global Shopper Apparently it is an open protocol that will be made available to other platforms to use in future. I'm only on Zwift, so not an issue for me
