  1. bad manners = cycling badly + causing crashes = purposefully causing crashes =
  2. i'm guessing start is spread over 2 hours then? cut the gaps between groups in half to spread it over 1 hour. This seems like it will cause more congestion but with faster guys starting first it will actually improve things, especially later in the day when the true racers will have completely clear roads. Then start a few minutes earlier and/or cut finishing time by a few minutes and/or get pros to ride in the dark a little longer and/or rectrict amount of teams entering.
  3. what are the starting time gaps between the teams? why dont they put the fastest team first? This isn't a 45minute TT in a grand tour with starters spread out over 6 hours.
  4. Look nice, but why are they pretending that Silverback is German
  5. Thats not so cheap, 2011 Merida 905 Evo Scultura: Ultegra and FSA components (same) DT Swiss wheels (approximately the same) goes for R17.5k at Westdene
  6. none of the comments relate to the frame, rather to the components. In the past Raleigh was the only cheap bike that wouldn't skimp by mixing in cheaper parts. What does the bike retail for?
  7. Cyclists should be able to get an EPO shot voucher + TUI letter everytime they donate blood. This would eliminate blood bank shortages
  8. where can one donate in Jhb Sandton area? How does one sign up??
  9. I assume you own both otherwise this is a pointless Question. if so what does the Tri bike weigh vs the road bike? I would say TT if you have done many miles of training in it already.
  10. OK the EE to ZZ's aren't exactly racing snakes, but they've all 'qualified' and are seeded riders just the same as a guy in group B.... so not related to having to qualify for the race.
  11. 1. The 'F' group for keeping a nice pace up the M1 2. The pedestrians crossing Harrow Drive for missing me. 3. The big support around Rosebank area 4. The tiny blonde girl who spent most of the time on the N14 in the front. 5. The wind on the N14 for not making its usual appearance 6. well organised finish 7. My legs and lungs for making it to the end. 8. The pr*ck in the Audi who parked me in 8. The guys who had to ride in the midday heat
  12. I thought that people would cheat at small races to get a good seeding for the 94.7? must be early Argus preperation
  13. I'm sure they weren't... I've added a 'rolleyes' smiley to illustrate that I'm not being serious!
  14. Maybe they should have a 'no fat people policy' in groups A to D to try and weed some of them out! (no offence to the strong fat people that kicked my ass on Sunday)
  15. If they remove oxygen from the air mix your dive will last about 1 minute
  16. I disagree, the only people that 'have never ridden a bike before' or actually haven't done a racetec/ WT race before will start in the last 4 groups OA to OD, these guys might die of a heart attack in the heat but not that I can ever remember. Almost all the crashes that I recall happen in the single digit start groups and the racing Vets categories where people ride in tight bunches at high speed and are VERY serious about time and position. These guys will all have done many races but one little lapse of concentration in 2 and a half hours = serious crash.
  17. Cherise. Its easy for a good woman rider in group C or D to draft behind a group of guys and get a very good time (maybe even better than the winners). Also the open groups are working consistently to keep a high speed, while the racing groups are accelerating/ attacking to try and win - time isn't important
  18. The Proverb of the Good Samaritan MTBer
  19. Assuming the bike has cleats and not pedals probably means that it was stolen this morning and the guy hasn't had time to offload it... or change for cheap pedals if he is planning to keep it. a. he probably stole this bike using a gun. b. if its the same day, he probably still has the gun on him c. if he feels threatened you might get shot d. approaching him and offering him money with your car closeby is flipping stupid as you know the guy is a probably a hijacker and probably armed ... ie you're asking the guy to take your car too!!
  20. big difference, more on the smooth rolling than the weigtht difference. do it!
  21. sora - bottom of the range tiagra - bit better 105 - good ultegra - good, lighter ultegra sl - good, ugly, even lighter dura ace - good even lighter di2 - who knows, electronic old 105 will be 9 (or 8? check) while the new ones are 10 speed
  22. Tyres about R300-R350 each. offer R4k?
  23. what wheels does it have? how much wear and tear?? I would say R5-6k is a bit steep as this bike is 7 years old, Shimano 105 is three generations old, If the bike has been unused for a very long time (ie low mileage), then maybe, other wise i would think about R3000 max.
  24. Funny thing is that I could take the cheapest alu. giant/ scott/ raleigh frame on the market and replace the cervelo frame and still get a 'superlight' bike that would tip the scales comfortably under 6kg.
  25. maybe those corporate bonded groups they slipped in?
