  1. I recon a Panic station which is solar powered. It makes a bloody loud noise, and scares the ****s out of a attacker plus other people will hear the noise/racket and be alerted. Would be nice if the person can be tracked. so that one can pinpoint the robber.but dont know how well it wil work. How far can a small hand held panic button signal be received, or if one boosts the signal, can it ever work?
  2. I have gone from a Raceking UST+ Maxxis monorail(foldable-converted) to a Spez Fastrack +Shauserwind combi, both 2Bliss (specialised's recons that UST's standards are to thick sidewalls so they have their own) Its not as thick as UST but saves a bit of weight. they are not 500g but they are just below 600 each, ant Ive had no trouble in the 500km Ive been on them. I hears someone say the Schwalbe tires wear fast, but they are popular on threads, so cant be that bad.
  3. probably sometime after when they win the epic
  4. I wish we had that on our races, But "the fat guy at the back wil fall and get a roadbike.." blahdy bladi blah.. Good stuff, I love the second guy's approach, he didnt even see the corner, just piled straight through.
  5. I see team 360 life is making a Documentary about their road to the Cape Epic 2011. I dig the very Real, South African vibe these guys have. They appear to have their feet on the ground, and want to just make the most of their lives, cycling in South Africa. I wish them the best of luck. http://www.vimeo.com/20832184
  6. Oh man I just did the Gardenroute 300.. theres so much to ride, Even so much more than the classics... but Do do: Hakerville red route. Petrus se brand Homtini Karatera has some trails that is amazing and takes you to the moon.. or just go to the local bikeshop and ask them to take you on a ride covering uncharted stuff. I grew up in Knysna, Only did the redroute the first time after school, didnt even bother theres so much else. If you have time and fitness, Ask Patric from Action cycles to take you on the route for the first day of the GR300.. Its unbelevable, Nothing like it, and youll spend at least 4 hours in indiginous forest & singletrack.
  7. Sho, there were crashes everywhere, again, at the risk of a Hijack, but the guy went down on blueroute at about 45km/h and a guy went down at the turnoff by kommetjie, big noise, sickening actually..I hope all is well.
  8. Pat! Was to funny when I realised Its you bro. Seriously had no Idea I didnt dare look, the riding was so intense that boyes drive to smitswinkel streach all I did was pay attention to the break. The pace was furious, up front the guys were hungry! Where I left you there were some okes attacking chappies as if it was a hilltop finish, I knew they wouldt last and caught them all near the top, then didnt have much of a bunch down the other side and hit lots of traffic up suikerbos. I got over suikerbos with about 15 okes and rode one serious speedline down to the finish. I got 2:54 on my garmin. Im well chuffed. My first sub3 at the finish I realised I only drank half a bottle

Hey, I would love to be able to ride one blade, but there is a 26t smallblade in the mix. Theres some races One could ride with a bigblade but after a couple of hours those pins of mine dont turn big gears no more One thing Im still puzzled about...why is my waterbotle so full? My bikes dirty already, although It might never have been clean in the first place. Im burning to get a 6'' bike.. so I can put some proper style shots on here but oh, why am I getting so responsable lately?
  10. Cause this is going to take me a day to post under all the different sub catagorys. Unless i post it under Something but still call it "garage sale- Various"
  11. I have about 15 parts for sale, Which I would have loved to put under one big "yardsale" tipe add.. as its suspension forks, road bars, casettes etc etc. I take it this not possible anymore? I knew I should have posted it a long time ago..
  12. Im riding a 44cm though Im no bigger than ave. I feel it a little on 4hrs, but that doesnt happent often. apart from that It comes in handy when i wrestle my bike up kloofnek or bunnyhop pavements etc
  13. This sux man, Im in a similar boat, Rode that 3day GR 300 2 weeks ago, Knee was niggling and getting proper sore just before so I had a phisio stap it up whalla, no problems for 3 hard days of Mtb, then I got sick and only got out yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks, glad flu is over, but I could hardly walk after my ride yesterday.. Now im like WTF.. I'll just not rude untill sunday and strap it tight and take some Myprods, then take 2- 3 weeks off, watch that fitness go gdown the drain.. As for the origional Question. I'll be at the front ao the group and attack, attack , attack!! this fricken sub 3 story aint going to do it by itself, Im in C which didnt get near last year, so Im thinking If the wind doesnt blow to much Im still going to ride my tits off to give myself a chance. So I'll be looking for those with similar agenda at the front of C bunch. If you want it, Go gettit! then I'll go for the anual post argus surf at Glenbeach and watch the ou's come in.. Good luck to all
  14. Theres no chance, Im sorry, comming in ahead of Adriaan Louw, Geddan ruddock, Petrus Malherbe as a "noboddy"/ stranger. Sorry, they should heve checked that, In fact Im sure If you asked her she wouldnt even pretend, Its probably just lack of interest from the timing / organisers.
  15. I use to have cytomax In those bankies bro, The Illegal stuff that gives you boom goes into your blood right? haha and the stuff you inhale makes you verry mellow I was saying in the cold I dont drink enough, which was why I sometimes didnt feel good,
  16. Hey Guys, i was looking at doing this anyway, So might as well Join, Sunday might have worked better for me as I just got a bit of a cold, was hoping It might have blown over by then. But lets see. If I come I will bring a friend. We could be na nice size bunch then so should be nice and safe, but also hope the guys behave and dont pull 3 abreast moves. Anyway, Hope the cold stays away and I can come join, If it doesnt I will try again for those that wanted to do it sunday.
  17. I Have to agree that Cytomax flavours are amazing, grape, Apple in my opinion is amazing. However I am Now on my 2nd tub of 23 GI, And I might be converted. I dont drink to much while riding and I race most 3hr Mtb races with one 1l bottles and for longer races I either take a banky with more powder or a nother bottle in the back pocket. I Use to notice how my energy levels dip when I hadnt taken a sip of Cytomax for 15 minutes, and also discovered that I often didnt feel to good when I raced in cold conditions reason was, I didnt drink enough! I could feel everytime I started feeling "pap" or low I would take a sip of great tasting cytomax and Boom, Like a Gu gel I would be back on the ball. But, When I rode this stage race Ive mentioned on other pages on here, I think I started seeing the fruits of 32GI. Sometimes when you only ride up to 3hrs, Its difficult to judge If your energy levels are still being affected by yesterdays eating, the before ride meal or your energy drink, But From 3- 6hrs, You start getting very "in tune" with your system, Especially doing it 3 days in a row. I noticed my Partner who was on Perplexium(sorry Im not sure did that justice) From Hammer Was Up and down a lot more than I was, And later in the rides he started taking sips of my 32GI just to vary it a bit as he was getting tired of the taste of Hammer, within 15 minutes he noticed the difference, And He actually used 32GI the last day as he was convinced. I find I still had slight ups and downs, but far smaller variations in evergy levels than on other stuff, I have to also say, I never once during the 3 days and 14:36 hours in the saddle I felt "I hit the wall". And we were racing on our limits the whole way. They better make more flavours but Peach is good for now...
  18. Giro Baby, Giro all the way.. To me, its about the solo breaks, the hope of staying away, the guts and the glory. The Giro seems to be where the soul is at, the TDF has so much spotlight on it I fear its become a bit Bland and lacks soul. I meen I'll watch it, But I fell in love with Road cycling because of the Giro. I hope We see a Clean Contador, racing like" the Kid" of old, He needs to win our hearts back, because with or without the doping scandals, His last tour vs Shmuck was quite boring and he proved the only thing he does better than Andy was shift.

  21. This is an interesting topic, I have been thinking much the same as Airbender. When I trained for the GR300 wich was a 3day race, I trained wednesdays through sundays. Monday and tuesday was either off or recovery on TDT and or run. As you gents know, The first "fresh" day of the training week one easily reaches the 95% marks during intervalls or hills but as my week progresses what would be 95% on fresh legs becomes 90% and a desent cruise speed whould normally be highish in the 80s but late in the training week Its low 80"s So I to have started judging myself by exertion, I found at day 2 of this race me and my partner were both comparing Heartrates (our Max is within 184 and 185 respectively) we were very evenly matched for the race but had very different puls's. You may say sure so youre different people, I say obviously, but we train the same way and with the same "zones"... I could guage myself well by exertion and I found that as soon as I went above 8/10 I started to get tired quickly so the secret was to just never let the foot of and keep it at exactly 8 or just below.
  22. Jeesh THis tread is moving, I didnt see CWC's post, Nice-one Chris senior. Also noted of course that the CWC on the hub is not ran by the same people as CWC - online..
  23. I know Hubbers love CWC, Its easy to like them, I do, and will but from them again, they go the extra mile and they listen to what we have to say and make an effort to meet our needs. I agree with you all, Nox was perhaps treading on holy ground starting a topic "CWC+ Negative experiance... Maybe could have stated "Major LBS Stuffs up"?? I dont know..POINT TAKEN NOX111 ?? But. To me the real point is... As someone stated above, they are not above critisism, wat they did or lacked doing was serious.. Cycling is a dangerous sport and when one gets someone you care for into this sport it becomes more real to us. Somehow when I plow into loose rutted corners at 40-50km/hr or ride down Kloofnek on my way home after a ride I dont think about the dangers anymore. We get numb to the dangers. Many of you have introduced a wife, girlfriend or even just a friend to cycling...Let me paint a picture: Imagine how Pissed you'd be if you found out she rode a brand new bike, (for some reason you couldnt check it for her) and the bikeshop didnt check the front QR before loading it onto her bikerack, she took it off and went on to go ride some dirtroads by herself... Sure, thare are disclaimers everywhere but ignorance is bliss and she would not have been aware what the rattle from the front wheel would have been, thinking, "surely theres nothing wrong" the bike is new, the LBS know best, I'll trust them. This is unfortunately how someone would think, agreed ?? Im glad It didnt end up in tears Nox111. I can give you some contacts for her to go have the bike checked at in PE. Unless CWC is willing to pay for the bike to get shipped back to them to have "checked". The tallest tree catches the most wind. ??
  24. So day one of GR300 done and dusted 5 :36 and 95km of the best riding ive ever done. THAT was KNYSNA at its best..every awesome section I know was in there.. strung together in a bloody tough and technical ride but oh so awesome.. we rode to the red route through the forrest, then did the redroute, as part of the race then rode to the best parts of petrus se brand, then some awesome section of about 10km deep in the bush before more singletrack and even the last 3-5km was climbing up steep stuff with singletracks so steep and fun that reminded me what I loved about MTB all along, sttuff I wouldnt see In cape town, because they domb the trails down so much because the "fat guy at the back" might fall on his face and moan or get pissed. This was serious stuff, flat out singletrack bombing, up motherless steep sections and tough?? hell yea. How can they possibly better this tomorrow? Oh and I was going to say.. I saw a guys Topeak holders like mine break today. the spez ones looks much better : ) but mine lasted the day.
  25. You should try, theres a notable difference, feels so light, especially long ries and climbing out the saddle.
