  1. This corner helped my bike take me for X-rays and a visit to the orthopedic surgeon. Thankfully no broken bones, but some very painful soft tissue damage nonetheless.
  2. Super stoked about this one. Finally found a 165mm crank in stock. Hopefully this will bring some relief to my lower back as well as fewer pedal strikes.
  3. Looking for a DT Swiss centrelock nut just like the one in the pic. I don't need the adapter, only the nut. Willing to pay.
  4. When I tried on the Leatt shirts I found them really tight and I'm a pretty small guy. Please save yourself the agony and avoid Bike Addict. Unless you can go into the shop, it's just not worth buying from then online. Communication and turn around times on orders is abysmal.
  5. Ok, so the important question then is: is it worth paying to fix this on an almost 5 year old fork? I don't notice it on the trail, only when riding around the block at home. I am also looking at going 10mm longer, would it not be better to find a newer fork with the travel I want that is in better condition? And sell the old fork here labelled "mint".
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys. Think I'm going to start with the loctite idea for now. Don't know that I'd be willing to risk removing stantions. Press-fitting isnt a simple job
  7. Not new unfortunately Thanks! That looks simple enough to try. Worth the cost of a bottle of loctite if it works.
  8. As per the title, I think my CSU is creaking. I've done the necessary trouble shooting, headset etc etc is all good. Even had my LBS look at it and they couldn't find anything. Still have the creaking noise as per this video (except my brakes don't screech). There is no play anywhere but this noise is doing my head in. My question is, with my fork long out of warranty, what can I do about it? Or do I just live with it?
  9. I looked on Trailforks after posting and saw that. Thank goodness! That climb almost made me quit cycling. Compared with the other trails in the Winelands network, Spice Route just isn't worth a visit IMO.
  10. Fantastic berm section to drop in and then similar to Rheboks on the other side- natural trails. Pops you out back at the top of the new berm section in the pine trees. Edit: there's a steep climb out of Owloon. Take it with a pinch of salt but Strava showed one section at 35% gradient
  11. 100% with you on this one. There is no reward at all for this climb. Rhebokskloof is superb at the moment, definitely worth going across to Owloon as part of the loop.
  12. This is my nightmare. I don't ride at Spice Route much because of it.
  13. Loose! But I guess that's pretty standard... Plaisir is in great condition, Boschendal needs a little work in places but very ridable. Banhoek is like a bike park as always.
  14. Seems I can only ride at Boschendal in 40° heat or with precipitation of some kind. Either way, a good start to the week. Overcooked a berm and broke a spoke -first mechanical of any kind in over 1000km.
  15. I think I've got Stan's front QR caps, not sure if they'd work for you?
  16. Those of you with trauma caused by eBikes can contact me for free counseling. Sessions offered via Zoom only.
  17. You guys all still banging on about this? Maybe go for a ride to de-stress.... (Not on an e-bike though)
  18. While we're talking about silicone grips, can any of you fine folk give me advice to prevent them from moving/rotating? I removed them and cleaned bars and grips with alcohol but no improvement.
  19. I don't have much experience with steel, but my aluminium TIG is pretty decent if you ever need help with that.
  20. Just pulling your leg. I found the long, detailed description followed with "quick, easy and fun" humorous. I have built more than a few bikes and there is nothing better than starting with raw materials and ending with a rad frame to show for it.
  21. We have very different ideas of a fun afternoon.
  22. This really p1sses me off.... Those poor tires!
  23. Thank you so much, that's done the trick!
  24. @Nickis it possible to disable the "follow topic" switch by default. I'm so tired of having to change it every time I post on a thread...
