  1. Technically, if you're not riding a Penny farthing, you're not a purist...
  2. A new rear tire won't cut it. It's quite clear that you will have to buy a second bike.
  3. As someone that grew up riding on the roads of KZN, this was some very civilized driving by comparison.
  4. So you mean "mountain bikers"?...
  5. I get that sponsors need to be promoted but, using the full title every time the race was mentioned, made for a very clunky read. Sounds like it was a brutal day out with some good racing at the 16th edition of the Momentum Medical Scheme Attakwas Extreme.
  6. I've driven on some terrible gravel roads and it's been completely fine. As @RiverInTheRoadsays, very noisy as standard, I covered the vehicle in sound deadening material and it is as quiet as my hatch now. I get 6l/100km and I drive it like I stole it. As you will be buying used, get it serviced at a good Indie and your costs will decrease dramatically.
  7. The 2.0 TDI is more reliable than the old 1.9 from what I've heard. Mine is only on 70k though so I'm not worried just yet
  8. What similar vehicles aren't expensive after warranty expires?
  9. We went camping in December. Took two kids, the dog and everything we needed to be self sufficient for a week, even had large foam mattresses and we fitted it all in. Took the kids bikes but couldn't get mine inside, would need a rack to take it with.
  10. The second row splits and you can remove the double seat and just leave the single in.
  11. I have a 2015 maxi crewbus. 5 seats, TONS of space in the back. I still sometimes put the second row down to fit longer bikes in. Fuel economy is excellent, I get about 1000km on a 60l tank, services cost a pittance at an independent garage. They have lots of road noise with only 2 rows of seats, but a lavish treatment of sound deadening does wonders. The second hand market is mad, I can get about 30% more for it now than I could 18 months ago. Get the maxi, but just know that anytime you go away, you will take everything you need and more just because you have the space for it.
  12. Aluminium is complicated to repair properly. You would need to strip the frame of paint (difficult to clean it properly around a weld), repair it with another weld, then heat treat (soften), straighten the frame, and anneal it back to T6 hardness before painting. Time consuming and expensive.
  13. Definitely the Stumpy. I don't know what the route is, but you can expect lots of climbing, and some exceptional descents. Did 27km there on Sat and was just short of 900m elevation.
  14. I don't often ride there. The climb sucks and I'm lazy. I also somehow only ever go then when it's blistering hot. The trails are really nice though so worth a visit. Bull and Chicken is sick. Inferno and Sugar Bowl are also really fun.
  15. Super hot morning out at Plaisir and Boschendal. Temp was 38 when I got in the car to leave.

  17. You do realise you are conversing with a spam bot?
  18. I've never had this issue with a Maxxis tire, but I did crash a Continental which then developed a terrible wobble. Mine was also fairly new and I had to throw it away because I couldn't stand the wobble.
  19. I'm just surprised they fine you in ZAR...
  20. Have you messaged Lyne about it? They are usually quite good at responding.
  21. I'm sure that plastic would suffice. If I'm not mistaken, cassettes of old used to have plastic spacers. If you are set on getting a metal one though, I'm certain you could get one turned for less than R825 Perhaps ask @Mars1967 if he can help?
  22. I was just looking through the segments I did on my Tokai ride two days ago, and noticed that a number of segments had insane KOM times. I'm happy to admit that I'm not the fastest rider around, but I found this particular segment leaderboard difficult to believe.... Segment is "Top of vasbyt to first corner".
  23. Sadly it is often religious leaders spreading the most hurtful, hateful and damaging messages.
