  1. Paid R15000 for the frame but normally you can only buy the top of the range model. My LBS strippped a spark 30 they had in stock as I was waiting to long for a warranty repair on my GT frame. Could drop some more with a carbon seat post.
  2. Here is my baby she weighs 11.2kg with tubless and pedals.
  3. Here is another one. Love this bike.
  4. I have a scott spark 30. Got mine down to 11.2 kg with tubless and pedals. The Scott spark 30 on the website is 11.30kg but thats without pedals and tubless. Mine I have ritchey wcs stem and a ritchy superlogic riser bar. Got full xtr except front derailer and pedals which is xt. Gobi xm Kium saddle. With a SID fork. With Eastons ea 90 xc wheels. This was a frame that I built up.
  5. At a 145kg I dont think it was the frames fault for failing.
  6. Ok thanks I get it so 29ers should be used for marathons. Is that why Kevin Evins used his Volcan 29er on the Karoo to Coast (mainly jeep track and flat gravel roads) and the rest of his races on his 26er soft tail?
  7. So what you saying is you dont mind buying a bike that might fail under you?
  8. Got the same bike, send Omnico a mail they deal in GT bikes. Check their web site omnico.co.za for contact detail.
  9. I was thinking the same thing. If you believe all the hype you cant beat a 29er.
  10. Can somebody please help me. Is the the Scott Scale 899 that Nino Shurter just won on a 26 inch or a 29? If it is a 26er can somebody please then explain HOW DID HE WIN?????????????
  11. Was looking at a volvo xc60 but it looks like I should rather look at a Audi Q5.
  12. Was that 29.3 km a tar course, just kidding. I know somebody with the same bike he loves it. I see they sorting out the paint issues by just not painting it.
  13. Poor bugger!!!
  14. I have got a sigma paid close to two grand for it. Its ok but not great. A friend of mine has the magic light I think he paid about R800 its way better than the sigma, if I ride in front of him I think there is a car coming from behind its that bright. I'm thinking of sticking the sigma in a drawer and buying a Magic.
  15. I agree wheels will make the biggest difference.
  16. So when are they going to fix your pot-holes. and your mines. and your cops.
  17. I know the guy that fell Stephan Niewoudt good rider, looks like he broke his arm and colar bone. Problem is these young guys think they are bullit proof, another guy I know saw it happen he was just going way to fast down that long washed out downhill. Here is an elevation file in metres if anyones interested.
  18. Dude EAT. You make me feel bad.
  19. Going back to Gobi, the Antares is light at 145g but its a bit hard on the a-hole. After 3 hours you realy start to feel it.
  20. Sold my Antares saddle within 20 minutes of posting mabe asked to little.
  21. Thanks Mark. Can you tell us do both bikes weigh the same, are both hardtails. My thinking is 29 ers are faster but anybody over 30 should be riding a dual (unless you a racing snake) and the 29er dual is not the cheapest.
  22. Still trying to get rid of a cold, I'll see on the day if I'm strong enough for the 55 km.
  23. You guys are doing it all wrong. My friend got in no problems no waiting list, first time rider, didnt even enter. How did he do it................he bought a new Subaru, problem solved. Just buy a new Subaru and trade it in after the race, you'll be in then.
