  1. Saw some of the route (not sure whcih day) this weekend during the AfricanX. Excuse the pun, but it is going to be Epic.
  2. Forerunner 410 (Garmin). With Cadence sensor. PErfect. The 310 and 910 are more triathlon specific. I have the 410 , but are considering 910 - just need to see swimming performance...I've not been convinced by bloggers and reviews.

    argus times

3:30 first Argus from K. Dropped my chain at UCT and from there my bike was like a stubborn horse. Great event, but I did not have a great race. Not far from goal time though (whould have helped if I could stick with the front of my group - there were a couple of really strong IM riders). "You need the bad days to appreciate the good days!"
  4. I had issues with knees on the spinning bike until someone advised me to take measurements from my road/TT bike and apply it to the spinning bike. So early one morning before anyone is at the gym I pulled in tape measure in hand and quickly checked all the settings and made a mental note of them. Never had any issues again! Felt like a dork though - but don't care! Edit : Typo

    Argus Sub 3 Kit

Everyone I know that has done sub 3 has told me so many times that they don't need the kit. It's almost like the "How do you know someone did the MBA/Ironman/Went to Grey High - They tell you" Joke
  6. Strange. I just checked and they are still there. In Bantry Bay nogal (with a hotmail address).
  7. Good deal (probably not), or too good to be true. Anyone missing TT bikes? Cervelo P4 (SRAM Red) for R20k Felt DA 2011 with Di2 and Zipp 808's for R20k http://capetown.olx....e-iid-306815733 http://capetown.olx....e-iid-306814251
  8. I'm also looking for one. Have a big race in the States in September and will have to keep going. PM me if you have something that is collecting dust. Cape Town preferably so that I can come view it.

    argus R group

RAcetec - and you should have been e-mailed
  10. Also got stuck in a Peleton of Wave 3's. Luckily a water stop sorted it out, but I was forced to ride in a bunch for about 5 minutes with a ref next to us trying to sort us out. I stuck to riding at 14h00 (front right on white line trying not to "block") as everyone was riding the Argus, but on TT bars...one big crash waiting to happen. My claim to fame for this race was that I lead the race for the first 15m. I have a terrific sprint so I'm the dude first in the water going like a bat out of hell. From there I only went backwards!
  11. Don't know how to post pics, but Dan broke down right in front of me. Was 2mins behind Caveman and about 4mins ahead of Stu before that. PS: if you can help me post pic (from a mac) it can help
  12. Dan had a mechanical on this bike with 2km to go. Ran his bike in.
  13. Haha ja, 61km/h was deadly! I led my group all the way and came 80th according to racetech. Throwing the short route in with us...
  14. There was quite the crash with 4km to go in one of the later groups. MN I think. Hope everyone is ok. Sp
  15. There was one ja! the second guy came in 3:00:00! I'll be gunning for 3:15 - 3:20 from K (good weather), but my plan is to ride in our little front bunch. The median Time is about 3:30, so given we get last year's conditions, I am confident to be ahead of the curve
  16. Some serious competition this weekend! Raynard Tissink will try his luck (he is a self-confessed scared cat on Mountain Bikes), The Caveman willbe ever present, World Champ Dan Hugo and up-and-comer Stuart MArais will give everyone a run for their money! Keep a lookout for Age Grouper Raoul De Jongh as well! And also Jean van Wyk if he is fit!

    2012 Ironman

Western Cape Schedule looks something like this to 70.3 End Sept: Clanwilliam Fitness Festival - Sprint End Oct: Slanghoek tri (swim 1.2km, 52km RB, 12km trail run) November: Energade BSG - sprint - Worcester December: Jailbreak (MAx: 2.2km swim/88km cycle/22km run & Min: 1.1km swim/44km cycle/11km run )
  18. Tweets by Bevan Docherty: 4 the record Lance Armstrong apologized 4 not shaking my hand, combination of dizzy (like me) & media mob. Nuff said! Geez if I read 1 more news article on Lance Armstrong "snubbing" me I'll go nuts! Stop tryin to make something out of nothing. I'm over it.
  19. It's like the Guvvament! If you make some money, they tax it! Add no (some) value
  20. Try www.atlantictriclub.co.za. They do an open water swim in the Waterfront Canals every Friday morning (only time anyone is allowed to swim there) and also there are open water swims at Clifton on Saturday mornings. BUT these swims are farking cold, so wetsuit is advised. You can try Silvermine Dam as well. much warmer.
  21. So Raynard dominated the short course with Stuart MArais winning the long one from The Caveman and James Cunamma. Stuart got DQed due to a wrong turn on the run. The markings on the run could have been better, but all and all a GREAT race. IMO the best in the Western Cape. 1. due to the pro field, 2. due to the venue and 3. the small field (+- 60 - 80) Awesome day out. I will never miss this race
  22. I've put the (some) training in. Die Burger was my first road race at 3:08 from Group X and a 3:11 this weekend in the Roller Coaster from group N. Haven't done the long stuff (100kms +) mostly Chappies rides from town, Glen Hill repeats (when its windy)
  23. Starting in K for my first one. See the "top guy" did a 3:03 and the back markers (not outliers) can in at 4:30 with the average 3:30 or thereabouts. 3:30 for my first Argus I'll take. I'll also take the weather that this was raced in!
  24. I find mine also fine. Only adjustments I made was to put different wheels on so that it can roll 360* and a racket grip for the handles. It's made a trip to JHB and EL this year already, and will go to the States at the end of this year as well. The negative is the weight and the size as some airline charge a lot extra for it - it is BIG (but it needs to be to hold the bikes as it is meant to)
  25. I see we have a stellar field in Langebaan this weekend. Not only will yours truly be racing, but I will be toe to toe (on the start line) with Raynard Tissink, James Cunamma, Conrad the CAveman and Dan Hugo. Hoping that SA's top Age Grouper, Raoul De Jong will also be ther. Heard they are doing the short one though...
