    IM70.3 SA

Some useless information on the IM70.3 2012 Less than 400 spaces remaining more than 20 countries represented Youngest entrant will be 18 next year Oldest entrant will be 72 next year Average age is 37 Median age is also 37
  2. The link on the website is broken, but I phoned and the shorts go for R799. NB ones are great though.
  3. Sportsmans Warehouse now stocking Orca gear. Prices are not great though, but as good as you get in SA? http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/triathlon-the-ultimate-challenge.html
  4. Caveman vs 7 time Tour de France winner (Sorry AndreZA) http://www.cyclingdirt.org/video/510191
  5. Ride them both and take the one that feels best. I would have gone for the AR4, but then again I would have transformed it into 'n TT bike!
  6. And he is winning NOW. To lose to The Caveman by a couple of seconds, even if Caveman was Jet lagged, is a phenomenal achievement.
  7. Still looking forward to his first Ironman! Lance Armstrong Wins Arizona’s Four Peaks Urban Dirt Triathlon Link Updated: Oct 11th 2011 4:19 PM UTC by News Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong participated in his second triathlon of the year this weekend in Tempe, Ariz. at Red Rock Co.’s Four Peaks Urban Dirt Triathlon. Armstrong beat out local pro triathlete Lewis Elliot to take the win. He led wire-to-wire, turning in a 10:24 750-meter swim, a 46:02 13.2-mile mountain bike and an 18:21 5K run. Those are some serious splits!
  8. What happened to Vanhoenacker? I know I don't have any credentials to criticize the person that will probably be the first to do a sub 8 hour IM, but it seems he withdraws any race where he sees that he will not get a podium finish?
  9. Space for the built in bladder?
  10. From discussion with some of the elites at my club, it should give you around 2km/h (considering riding around 30km/h). However, I think "getting" the 2km/h will come at a greater expense this short before an event. 1. You are in a more aggressive set-up so different muscles will be used 2. You have to crane your neck quite a bit and this take time to get used to 3. Less control Clip-on can work, but then a reverse seat post is recommended otherwise you are stretched out like superman over your bike. My suggestion: Go with what you trained with up to now.
  11. I'll go Crowie, Van Hoenecker, Realert. Our man Tissink did not seem too happy and I think he might call it on the bike if it does not go well. No need to put you through that heat if the body is not ready.
  12. No worries, all in the spirit! I have an MBA as well (there, I told you). And that was the (lame) comeback we had all those years back. And I have 4% fat for at least 10 people
  13. And how do you know someone has NOT completed the Ironman? He's the one telling the joke.
  14. I Googled, I CWC'ed, CRC'ed, but can't seem to find this. CApe Town if possible
  15. These bikes are amazing (I don't have one, but it was my first choice). I assume that you allready have most of your gear (shoes, helmet etc), so the budget will be for a bike only. Wetsuit will set you back R3k? My suggestion will be to buy the road bike. If you can afford the MTB you can always do Xterra also. Put on the clip-ons and you're good to go. AS mentioned above you can't use the tri-bike for any other races (triathlon or otherwise), and even though it looks amzingly cool, I can't see how to justify the expense for 2 or 3 races a year. Also you will not (should not) be allowed to join any group rides for the same reason as the draft legal races do not allow them. One more thing. A lot of IM athletes prefer road bikes at IM70.3 due to the rolling hills. One LAST thing: Rather get better wheels for your road bike as I think it will make a bigger difference than going tri-bike
  16. +1 to pull out of the race. You'll only make it worse. The product you are referring to is Kinesio Tape. You can buy a brand at Sportsmans Warehouse. I find that it helps with aches and pains (similar active ingredient as Transact Tape as far as I know EDIT: This is not true). Compression socks will not help with cramp. If I were you I would hit the physio for the week, use some of the tape until raceday and make a call in the morning. If in doubt, watch the Semi Finals!
  17. Raynard is ill. Could not train the last 3 weeks. Will decide during the race if he will withdraw. On his blog: I’ve been dealt one of those hands once again before a major race. The last 3 weeks have been a constant battle between my body and mind, trying to stay on track, and get the training that needed to be done out of the way. In the end, the body won. My mind just couldn’t keep forcing my body to do what it was protesting against each and every session, and when I was eventually forced to quit a training session half way through, I had to concede that something was wrong. After a few days off from training I tried to ease back into it, but the physical signs were no better. Still I tried to push on, until the third day back when I cut another run short and barely made it home before collapsing. All the signs point towards a virus. Sore, stiff, aching muscles, constant headache, dizziness, constant fatigue - but until a blood test is done, we won’t know what is going on. And by the time I get home I’ll be too angry and depressed to care about blood analysis. So unless there is a quick island cure (like smoking some ‘erbs, or tossing a virgin into the smouldering belly of the volcano), it looks like the island has got the better of me once again.
  18. No, The attacks happen on the Falsebay (warmer) side and the swim is on the Atlantic (colder) side
  19. Sandes took the race in a new record 4h40.
  20. Long swim(s), biathlon, duathlon and a triathlon (sprint) that starts at 15h00 in some heat! See anyone there?

  22. The air gets a helluva lot thicker when the South Easter is blowing! I would have thought that the impact on your heart and lungs will be the biggest contributing factor and not the density of the air?
  23. I'll put money on it a couple of Myprodols will be swallowed coming down the Glen (*enter the pain cave*). That is going to HURT and then only 33km to go on the run...at least the views will be good!
