  1. Not yet - on the way home yesterday I was trying to convince myself not to be silly and ride whilst still sick... but then for the first time in a loooooonnnnngggggg while there was sun out when I got home - couldn't wait anymore, so took her out for a spin! So what was supposed to be a photo-opportunity, turned into ride time. Middle part of a donut to anyone who can work out which had me smiling more!
  2. What's that colour called?
  3. Oh, btw - thanks for the pedals Mr. Brundson - haven't used my mtb shoes yet, but sneakers work a treat!
  4. Thanks Hairy! Yip - been having a long look at the chain tension already... It appears slacker than what it is in the photos, I was actually debating whether or not to put a chainguard back on... With this being said, I'm no lightweight, so standing up produces a fair bit of torque ... Will definitely keep an eye on it...
  5. And it's done! Big thanks to the gents at Mason's, who helped me along oh-so-nicely! Took her for a quick spin - me thinking I'm going to be having some serious fun on this frame .... Granted, have yet to hit a serious hill, which will probably see me re-assess my fitness levels. Which is a good thing. Mary bar makes for quite an upright position, but I'm liking it... Novelty might wear off, but will pop up some thoughts when I've put down a few kilos... Will put up complete pics when I can take some decent shots - but here's the business side of things... Went with the softy option of 32t for starters... 16t at the back, but will give it a few weeks before making my decision on either a 36t, or maybe even the 38t...
  6. Winter uniform, silly.
  7. +1 Never had one myself - and budget contraints aside, but reckon a Cane Creek would be preferable over a Suntour - purely since the former has been around for longer, plenty of reviews to check out, and you know what you're getting. Do a search on mtbr.com, and here on the Hub for 'thudbuster' - you'll get all the info you need... Just keep in mind that many of them have rider weight restrictions...
  8. Your comment is useless without pics....
  9. You don't need bread? That's just wrong.
  10. Fanks! Running my old (but reliable) Shimano Parrallax - converted to tubeless. When I finally take the plunge on upgrading to disc on the other frame - I'll simply move the Cane Creeks over to the SS.
  11. I kid you not - I was sabotaged by a well-meaning but ultimately misguided mate... Without going in to details, all is finally back on track.... That, and the not-so-insignificant matter of a 3 month old boy, has been keeping me rather busy! I'll shut up now - here be some pics, if all goes well with the tubeless conversion, I should be up and running in next week... Can't wait - almost there.... Good times!
  12. Plenty of questions there, RD... Best bet would be to take a squizz over at the Online Shopping forum, here on the Hub. Each one of your questions have been asked (and then some), and answered - often at length... You will find all you need to know over there! Shout if you're still battling!
  13. Out of JHB - not sure if they only do online sales, don't think so, but it's what I did, since I'm based down south.
  14. Drop Jerrard at www.singlespeed.co.za a line (jerrard@singlespeed.co.za) - bought my Blackspire from them, and they're super helpful with all queries as well!
  15. Ja actually there's a bit of irony in critisizing the Yanks for being stooopid in having a "world" series when only they play, since it's technically correct....
  16. Pm HeartCoppi to have a looksie... Whatever you do, wait a while - there are plenty of Hubbers who have an interest in the old-skool stuff, and will be able to give some valuable input! Just BUMP this thread a few times... And good luck! Btw - need a say it: Irrespective of your decision, if there ain't pics - it didn't happen!
  17. Cool beans... Naturally, I will claim that it's the job of a modder to ask the silly questions that others are too embarrassed to ask...
  18. Condolences to your family. Sad news indeed.
