  1. The new classifieds site will have a built-in sweeper option, if I remember correctly... This being said - it's a valid point concerning the market price, no? I've done a few searches before for items I was looking to sell, to get an idea of what they went for previously... Hmmm - will yap with Admin about this...
  2. Thanks for the link! Oh my shattered nerves - the sheer scale of those shelves in some of those photos... 420 employees... And it started out as a small family business only 25 years ago... CWC - take note!
  3. I cried. I cursed. I cried some more. And then I drank lots and lots of beer. I was so seriously stoopid - I stopped up on the mountain somewhere, and propped the bike up alongside a type of rocky embankment, for me to get the camelback off - camera out - and take a few pics... They bike was standing pretty up right, can't remeber now if it was a gust of wind or whatever, but it simply fell over. As in, no rolling or anything - just wham for no reason, like someone had reached out and nudged it perfectly over on to its side... it made perfect contact with the top of a rather strange rock formation, that only had the tip of it sticking out of the ground (think iceberg)... The shape of the scratch is literally what the pattern was on the part it connected... Reckon if it had been a smooth rock, like all the others were in the immediate vicinty, it would have been fine... I kindly placated myself by reasoning it was simply Karma, doffing its hat in my general direction... Needless to say, my bike is no longer left standing upright whilst on the trail...
  4. Thanks for your thoughts Sean! How open are you to building bikes/frames for foreign customers (i.e. us down here on the bottom tip of Africa)?
  5. Nope - did some very light sanding, and simply took off the edges. Been watching it like a hawk since then, as it's holding up... The photo makes it look slighty worse than what it is, but so far, so good... I'm due a full-service in the next few months, so hopefully I will be proven correct...
  6. Cool beans - that's the spirit. Always remember, anonymity does strange things to people on the Hub! Ja - so I presume you're a DH'er then... If it's entering at the seals, I'd look at it closely. Key thing is not to damage the seals - so if there are any burrs/sharp edges, you'll need to make a plan. As I've stressed - take it slow, little by little, so as not to cause more damage trying to repair it... My scratch actually dented the stanchion, so I had no choice. I'll pop up pics below - if yours is simply the coating that's been scratched, and so not really sharp - I'd be very hesitant in taking sandpaper to it... Also - as mentioned already, keep in mind that the scratch might collect dust etc in its 'cavity' so keep specific note of it after rides, and try and keep it clean - simply use a clean cloth, maybe slightly damp... Here be what mine looked like: It actually pains me just looking at it... Happened two weeks after buying a brand new fork...
  7. Not mocking you JB411 - hang around on the Hub long enough, and you'll take all of this in your stride... I'll pop up my 2 cents, and no doubt more commentary will be forthcoming from fellow Hubbers, so check back here periodically. First off - the points about the edges of the scratch are important. Sharp edges can damage the seals, allowing dirt in, and lubricants (more than usual) out... As mentioned earlier, I took some sandpaper to mine, very, very carefully, and I'm still going strong... With this all being said - the scratch appears to be quite high up on the stanchion... Judging by the dust marks all the way down on the stanchion (as in the pics), it would appear that you're not using all the fork's available travel, so as to have the scratch actually entering the lowers of the fork on a regular occasion, if at all... Should this be the case, I wouldn't worry about it too much... However, if your riding style/terrain sees it regularly entering past the seals - then the nature of the scratches' edges becomes relevant again... Your decision on whether or not to sand it down - all the while without damaging the surrounding coating on the stanchions, will be guided by the above circumstances... Hope this helps! [Oh wait] On closer inspection - that bike appears to be a DH rig? Which would somewhat negate my initial comments regarding where the scratch is? Is airtime your friend (i.e) do you use all your available travel?
  8. Apologies for the [hi-jack], but have a look at this simplicity... Anyone prepared to suggest that the length of the seatpost might absorb plenty of trail-stutter??...
  9. +1 Check first - don't want this ruined for the rest of us!
  10. Might just be the first time I've used this emoticon... Figure it's jutified.
  11. Click on the link to the Forum Tutorial here - it explains everything regarding what needs to be done. Alternatively, PM me for email details, and I'll pop them up...
  12. Pics will help are essential... I have quite a bad scratch on my Fox, after the bike fell over, and connected with a rock... At the time, I popped up a similar question... But there's no real answer to this, until you can show what you're talking about... In my case, I sanded the spot down very, very carefully, so as not to remove any more coating - but to take off the edges. I check regularly for any leakage - but been more than a year now, and does not appear to be causing any issues. With this being said - how you go about 'treating' it, will make all the difference - so don't do anything without getting some free advice from your fellow Hubbers! Oh - and pop up the answers to Drongo's questions as well - the more info you put up, the more complete the help will be.
  13. They've already done that... See here
  14. You appear to be very sure that Chicababe and Snip are the same person?
  15. + 1 The minute you get lawyers involved, you're already looking at anything from a 2k retainer upwards, before the first letter has even been sent... For a R7k claim, go via the small claims court... They're to be found at most of the local Magistrate's courts -- depending on where the two of you are, this will determine the relevant jurisdiction... This is, as you have correctly pointed out, not a straight up and down case, but at least through the SCC your costs will be minimal, and more importantly, should you not be successful - at least you won't be left with having to pay the other side's legal fees as well - which is possible, should it go anywhere else other than the SCC...
  16. Sweet! Why've you flipped the Carnegie? More leverage?

    Litespeed Unicoi

Thanks for the pics Mel777! Think my model was the first one after Litespeed swopped over to the air-shock at the back. But by all accounts, the elastometers on the previous versions worked a treat - as evidenced by the fact that the Moots 26" and 29" softails, which are still selling like hotcakes today Stateside, still use that very same suspension set-up... If your m-i-l ever thinks of letting it go - please be so kind as to let us know...
  18. Pure porn! Singular make sweet frames - you're one lucky Hubber! Happy miles...
  19. Good idea this! Will flag it for Admin's attention.
  20. [bug] Error when 'replying'... When I 'reply' to a comment popped up under one of the Items that are For Sale - nothing happens. Looking good!
  21. Elvis? Is that you?
  22. I'm in - Berry has pm'ed me - and wants orders in by tomorrow at lunch time... Which gives me a few hours to think about how badly I want to hurt my CC...
  23. Berry - are you based in Stellenbosch? I'm looking at CRC as well - just trying to convince myself not to blow a small fortune... Looking at a Thomson seatpost, and maybe a seatclamp (or two), and maybe a headset, and maybe some pedals, and maybe some tyres...
  24. Hello Wildthing, Welcome to the Hub. I'm going to move this over to the TechQ&A section. BUMP (Bring up my post) your post a couple of times, if you get no responses, it sometimes takes a while for the topic to be seen! I'll do it right now, and then move it across. Bump
  25. ER - have a search under the Online Shopping forum - should get plenty of information there. Not sure about US imports specifically, but should be dealt with in the same manner as importing from the UK and Far East, which several Hubbers have done...
