  1. Well done to everybody! Proper fomo this side... Definitely will have to be there next year!
  2. My friends all PBd, but they have been putting in the effort, so not sure if it was the course [emoji1787]... Perfect weather conditions for running too on Sunday in Pmb. But yeah, great route.
  3. I did the sprint last year and I think I was more buggered after that then after any 70.3 I've done [emoji1787] red line from start line to finish is not fun!
  4. Anyone racing Durban ultra on Sunday?
  5. One thing I've found is pool swimming destroys my goggles, they only last a couple of months before they start giving issues like leaking and fogging, due to virgin actives death levels of chlorine. So I have a set for training in the pool and then I have a pair that I use for open water/ races. No fogging or leaking on race day.
  6. Haha yeah that route doesn't look like the nicest Sunday run, but you get a good tour of Pmb. I'll have beers on km 16 for those of you that need carbs
  7. Yeah I would assume Durban would just become the 70.3 SA?
  8. Finally remembered to put in my deets.... time to get shedding!
  9. Yeah I know a lot of guys over there, and even more that are keen for next year... I wouldn't be suprised if in 5 years EL doesn't have enough participation to warrant two 70. 3s in SA.
  10. Well done! That's my race for next year!
  11. It's not thaaat cheap, hence asking if it was post office or not...
  12. does anyone know if ICAN ships via SAPO once in country. Their website says they use ems shipping, but i don't particularly want to pay thousands in shipping if it takes 3 months to get to me.
  13. Early breakfast before ride, coffee and English muffin with jam. Oats with peanut butter and raisins/banana after for main breakfast. Race days is coffee and 2 English muffins, one with peanut butter one with jam/honey. Sip on energy juice prior to race. At least 2 pit stops from breakfast table to start line, often 3 if it's a big race and there's nerves.
  14. Well done! Yup... Consistency is key! 600m now turns into an easy 3km swim this time next year... And then Ironman [emoji1787]
  15. A pair of road shoes will get you through it, bar any hectic mud and slippery conditions. If it's just dry trail you will manage...
  16. Has anyone been running in the hoka carbon x? All the online reports seem to be fairly mixed, but that's after they've run 50km. Any runners long term been in them? What are your opinions?
  17. So.. Race report.. Swim (35min) wasn't too bad. So I thought. Very cold water, but swimming out along the Harbour wall was nice and calm, made the turn and the chop got big on me... Lots of water swallowed in the 2nd half...all in all probably 2-5 minute slower than usual for everyone I spoke to. Bike (3:06) was a **** show. Head wind all the way up to the turn, made the turn and the wind just kept getting stronger, tailwind for most of the way back made for a fast split, but every time you hit a bridge or an open area the gusts were blowing you all over the place. 60mm wheels were a bad life choice. Run (2:02) was solid, tailwind along the promenade to bunkers, bunkers not as bad as I thought it would be. Coming back down it was a headwind and then back along the promenade was block headwind with all of the sand in my eyes. Running the last 2km to the finish was harder than bunkers! Add in some long transitions due to foot pains throughout the race and all in all 5 56 for me, was aiming for 5 30 but with the conditions I'll take sub 6. Took 45 min off time from last year, and that with a shortened swim last year. My kudos goes out to thse people coming off the bike as I was finishing, the wind was only getting worse as the day went on.
  18. Loads of wind! Way more than last year.... Toughest race I've done. Race report once I've su k a few beers and revived myself
  19. Good luck for tomorrow errbody, let's hope the weather is the same as today!
  20. Road tripping down today, already got fomo of everyone in EL already!
  21. I use them, one of the better tasting gels I've had, and using their hydrafit juice too.their energy bars are like rice crispy bars, so easy to eat, and their energy shot little bottles work a treat! Haven't sampled all of their products though.
  22. Watched henri at kzn tri Champs this weekend, he's looking faaaaast! Smashed a nice 31min 10km. And looked like he was on cruise control. He just better pray for no wind, he looks like he's 40kg, so might fly away on the bike if it's pumping like last year [emoji1787]
  23. Interesting to see henri schoeman toeing the line... Either gonna blitz it or get blitzed... I reckon Weiss or aernouts for the men. For the ladies, Emma or Mariella, with Kristin liepold the dark horse, she runs faaaaast.
  24. Aaaaaand numbers are out... 212 for me
  25. Yip same story here [emoji1787]
