  1. That pic of hannachi looks just like ones of the lampre team adds in the maganzines. Or maybe is just the Willier that reminds of that, but anyway, Well done!
  2. Haha DNA! whats next?? good stuff!
  3. I never take those things. taking up to much space. I believe is a person with low selfesteem that wants a medal for completing a race.
  4. Exactly and currently it doesn't cater for all
  5. Porky your a man that can RUN almost a 100k. so why is "free wheeling" a 100k so hard?
  6. Yeah so the guys racing should be 1st priority since its their jobs at stake. Why would it be any different for a "non-racer" doing 60km of a challenging route than 100km of a joke. Either than just saying "I did a 100km under 4 hours!!"? And I cant understand it on the entry it readed new improved route and its even faster(less of a challenge) I mean common.
  7. My biggest worry was that it was pan flat!! as every other race in SA these days seems to be. Where is the challenge in riding a 100km pan flat race? Looks like organizers are organizing races for sissies. Races also always use to have a distance now shorter than 120km. I am quite dissapointed with the attitude of race organizers these days.
  8. This is superb! Now that is so much better than last years performance after stage 1. Keep it up!
  9. Wow look at that average watts! respect!
  10. There was some rumours going around that he wanted to do it this year. Especially after he said he wanted to come race in SA in 2009. That would have meant either worldsview or Giro. But no sponsor could be found for one of these events. Although PPA stepped in for Giro. The event was downgraded from UCI2.1 ranking to 2.2. Which means Lance can't ride even if he wants to, as he is part of the protour. Pity none of the corporates could have realised the power behind such kind of sponsorship. Ps: estimated crowd for the 6 days of tour down under to see lance's 1st race was a totaal of 700 000(out of a 12mil population) lining the roads of Australia.

  12. Where can we find info on the circuits and distances??we all need to finalize training schedules!!?
  13. low cadence = harder effort from muscles for each individual turn of the pedals = Recruitment of a higer percentage of fast twitch musclefibres, because force of contraction is greater. This means a immediate increase in power exerted, because of the higher recruitment of fast twitch musclefibres. High cadence = lower effort from muscles for each individual turn of the pedals = Recruitment of a higher percentage of slow twitch musclefibres. Slow twitch fibres are known for their endurance capabilities, which means if you use a higher endurance slow twitch fibres your muscular endurance should be increased. Thus a balance exist for maximum results or between power and endurance.
  14. lose the sticker man
  15. Circuit racing is defnitely the way to go. But circuit racing generally lead to even shorter races(criterium type racing), and you cant race for 180km around a 5km certain. Possible solution is like oneway said first go out on the 100 -120km loop then make the last 50 60 on a lap. This is phisable with funrides as well. Because the pro would do the normal race length just as they do now, but also do a bit extra at the end. And the riders finishing would also be able to watch. However, the big mistake in past was that races would suddenly be 180 200km(like the 94.7) and no one would be prepared for the longer distance. They should increase the distance of the races slowly but surely over a period of the time.
  16. Look if you want to reach your full potential in cycling, which I pressume is what you want to do, rather go with the powermeter than the wheels. Do yourself a favour start by reading Joe friel's book: Training Bible and then hunter Allen's books. Do as much as possible research you can do on power and get yourself a coach who don't mind sharing his knowledge. Once you know what's going on you can start self-coaching, at the end of the day there's nobody who knows your body better than yourself, and you train for greater personal reason, instead because the coach said so. This could be extremely motivating in itself, but you need to know what you doing. However don't be fooled! At the end of the day a powermeter is not a necasarity when it comes to cycling success...There is lots of ways of reaching your atmost potential...But the powermeter option is definitly the safest(in terms of burning out or overtraining) and easiest way(know what best works for you and what doesn't work). Note: DO NOT GET A POWERMETER IF YOU THINK ITS GONNA MAKE YOUR TRAINING EASIER, ITS DAMN HARD!Racing Hart2008-10-02 12:56:14
  17. I don't think the top gear idea would really go that far..you gotta remember the personality of the presenters..Those top gear guys are just natural born comedians and entertainers..I think if AM,Arnie or Owen would try some of those stuff it be only bitter dry humor...Thats not to say they can't have fun.
  18. I think is a good idea to continue with the "PRO-file" which they occasionally have on the show..I think they should do more extensive interviews with the girls and the men, and with the rising star or retiring pro. Also really the need more extensive race reports...You never know whats going on in those races And your confusion about who is accautly in the lead is always followed by andrew saying "in the end it was Malcolm Lange"..Wow! it sounds like the sound race over and over each week. It would also help if there races are more up to date! The jock was over 2months ago! I remember a couple years ago the tuesday 2 days later they would have the race on already! Thats what I at least expect..2Days is more than enough time.
  19. Bruce..You are definitely the power Guru of sa cycling.
  20. digging through the archives, finding some of the stuff quite interesting...can you please explain what all of this is?
  21. I'm prettu sure someone like barry austin or zoon cronje or Carinus lemmer should know as to why there is not a team.
  22. See this topic hasn't been started yet? It has started on saturday with a prologue on saturday and consists of 9stages. And we have 2 riders competing in the UCI academy team, they are Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Jaco Venter. They now hold 30th and 26th place on GC respectively, which is pretty well but expect Jacques to move up once they hit the mountains... What bothers me although is that there isn't a national team?? As far as my knowledge we finally qaulified 1. And it was a big goal of csa to do this and send a team? But there is no team??why? And why is the reason for now team to be send kept so quiet? To me is utterly dissapointing, the guys could have really used in the prep for worlds and even move in to the top10 u23 countries.
