  1. There are only a few places on Chappies to ride 2 abreast. Most places you need to ride single file to avoid being knocked down by a bus or car. We need to play our part here and consider there are others as well using the road. Yes others are at fault too. Most of the vehicles going up or down on Chappies are not adhering to the speed limit, buses included. Believe me when I say the tour operators have a lot more financial clout than us cyclists to make a ban possible. I read a club's newsletter recently where it was actually mentioned that someone lodged a complaint with PPA about a group of club riders in club kit riding 3-4 abreast with cars queuing up behind them. Are we gonna have this 'F U' attitude and jut do what we want to and when a ban is imposed then we wanna have protests against it. My 2c
  2. Nice bonie constada. Whats that on your handlebars?
  3. @LB, at your age why is a Sub 3 Argus so important. Relax and enjoy the ride. A Sub3.5 is a good time. Its the Fun Ride World Champs. Us okes having a midlife crisis need a Sub 3 to show we still got it.
  4. Ja nee! Last year winning time for Burger 2h15 ar an average just shy of 42 kph. Dis k&k vinnig.
  5. According to your 94.7 you had an average of 33kph. A Sub 3 Argus is an average of 38kph. You looking at a time of Sub 2h30 for a Burger at that average. Good luck.
  6. Hmmm before theSuper6 came along. That there is one 'shaxxy' bike. You just want the wheels nuh?

  9. Are those the same guys that use to be in Albert rd, Woodstock? They used to be in a small backroom at the back of a building next to panelbeaters.
  10. Gonna go with you on this one @javadude. Definitely Vitus although the smaller one looks like an Alan with that headtube. Looks like both were painted with a brush.
  11. If the steerer is aluminium chances are you will have to spray the whole fork. Its nice when its just all carbon then you can just spray a clelar over it and showoff the naked weave. Don't Use Paint Stripper. It will damage carbon and the bonding agent. A light grit wet sand paper should do the trick to get old paint off just to expose the weave and then primer and at least two coats colour and then finish off with clear. Give a light wet sand between coats when dried properly. Post the results.
  12. Prune juice, comes out in same consistency as it went in with everything else you ate.
  13. I buy the Woolies Low gi bars with banana, cinnamon and dates. Doesnt melt, goes down easy and you dont spike your sugar.
  14. How was it sent? Royal mail, DHL? Free postage 3-4 weeks with my experience. Randela/ Pound exchange rate not so lekker now. Some things you might even find cheaper here.
  15. Aeropress is available at the camping shop next to Capestorm in Wynberg(Cape Town).
  16. Important factors... Budget, Husband's specifications ( weight, height), Riding abilities and goals. Firstly he needs to get an Ergofit or BG fit to rule out which frames not too buy. You have to consider top tube and head tube dimensions. Not all of us can fit comfortably on an Evo or Tarmac witout fitting 5 spacers and a 70mm stem. Then you have to ask does he want a plush or a racing bike. Sounds like you want to spend quite a bit. Don't get rushed into buying the first good deal that comes along.
  17. I'm in love..... http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q605/shaheedosman/c9b7d33ef74fd87d2840771c98c0b0ab.jpg

  20. Sports teams across all codes should not be offering U23's contracts. There would be no pressure on them getting a sponsorship while in school. Kids would have to get a tertiary education before pursuing sport as a profession. If your aim is to pursue sport after varsity then major in a sports subject so when you cant compete anymore you do not become a has been jock/ette having to resort to presenting. We can nurture coaches and supporting staff for the future. We would not exhaust our athletes before 30 thereby having longer careers. Does sports studies even discuss anti- doping and consequences. Look at how young our athletes are competing professionally. Why wouldnt you do anything to be able to compete for your country at 19, having girls fall at your feet, grown men worship you, be able to buy anything you want. As I see it the pro's far outweigh the cons in today's society and we allow it. Kids are so impressionable today its hard to fault them. YES, it is the fault of parents and teachers alike. We want to give our kids the best education possible but if we are aware of these practices at school we should not even be sending our kids to those schools. I as a parent would not subject my child to such practices or throw him to the mercy of these sharks. When I started cycling at junior level even then just popping a Sinutab for sinusitis was a no no because of fear of getting tested for a banned substance like ephidrine or codeine.
