  1. Garf. Heard a story from my Doctor who went to Phucket with 2 mates to do the recent Laguna Challenge. They got into a fight at a bar. The only problem was they started a fight with some thai boxers. They ended up in Hospital for a few days So when you go to Abu Dhabi best dont go looking for trouble in the wrong places. You might just encounter some arabs with some strange fighting skills. But then again they have not encountered the CLAW
  2. yes dont swim alone and do wear a bright yellow cap. never know when one of the canoeists is gonna run you over or the hippo mistakes you for a tasty bit

    TT-Saddle

I ride with an Adamo road saddle very comfy no issues. I have a few uncomfortable saddles in a box somewhere if you would like ...
  4. 120km around the cradle. 4 loops later and I started to get dizzy and bored. The only interesting thing I saw was the white tiger ... wish it would jump the fence one day then we would see some seriously fast cyclists
  5. I know the feeling well. Its sickening .. best post pics of the bikes here
  6. Sounds like this is what I need. I am in week 4 of a 20 week programme for IM2013. So long hours at work and a hectic training regime and guess what ? last week Wed I get sick and end up in bed for 3 days. A whole week down the tubes. You simply cannot make up lost training. Maybe a day or two but not an entire week. What I need is something to boost the immune system and get me going
  7. At the recent Midlands Ultra I did a trial run for IM2013. For the swim I wore speedo as underpant so to speak under my wetsuit. In T1 I put a full padded cycling short on. In T2 I swopped the cycling short with a running compression short. Admittedly it did not all go smoothly was at least 1-2 mins slower through T1 and T2 than the garf but I was comfortable. In a 12hr+ event comfort is going to be of paramount importance for me. During the last Germies Olympic distance I wore a 1 piece and needed to heed the call of nature during the run. This was not a good experience. The 1 piece shoulder straps and zip etc just got in the way. Going forward 2 piece for me.
  8. davem is this what you are referring to ? http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/mens-heatgear-longsleeve/pid1201163 Would the specsaver dudes have any objections to you wearing this under your tri top ?
  9. So Mon-Fri my cycling is restricted to an IDT. Sat and Sun 5am I hit cradle and do a few loops. So what we are saying now is that you are not even safe out at the cradle I cannot frikken believe it. I thought the worst that would happen is the white tiger would jump the fence or a local farmer brown would get upset for some odd reason. Now we gotta watch for drunk drivers in the yellow lane many years ago I was cruising up krugersdorp hill in the yellow lane on a friday afternoon with another cyclist I did not know. some arsehole hit the dude behind me and killed him. the driver claimed the cyclist swerved in the middle of the road which was total bull***t.
  10. I did'nt know there was a cycle lab in little falls ? I live in Randpark Ridge and deliberately did not join Cycle Lab fourways because its too far out. But Little falls is on my cycle route out to the cradle so i suppose this is a good option as a club for next year. Anyone else here a member of the cyclelab little falls ?
  11. Sigh ... still waiting for a factual account of the incident. Surely the cycling world cant be that small.
  12. This is going to be interesting. Popcorn time. Would really like to hear it from the dude who got arrested. Love to know exactly what it was he did to get arrested.
  13. You should try swimming in the Midmar dam even better !! Did the Midlands Ultra water was Xcellent
  14. You guys are very trusting indeed. I had no idea there was anyone on this planet who was this trusting especially in the crime capital of the world.
  15. The stretch of road from the cradle to Beyers, corner beyers and northumberland, is a no go for me. You risk your own life using that stretch of road there is hardly any shoulder there and little enough space for cars. If you get a flat down that stretch of road you in trouble one way or the other.
  16. Maybe now I can convince Nedbank to sponsor me for PE IronMan 2013
  17. 12k laps for 24hrs ... urgghh I'm dizzy already
  18. Garf what you up to lad ? There's a few events early next year 2013. 70.3, Buffelspoort ultra and of course iron man in PE. Are you gonna be doing any of these ?
  19. Yip. I have triple speed shifter with double chainring and FD. Same if you got triple FD. I have done both. Just adjust the limit screws.
  20. I do my own Olympic distance race every Tuesday and Thursday at Kyalami for R20 except no swimming. I'll do the swim in the morning at Gym
  21. Agree totally. The only reason why I do 5150 is cause the wife and kids enjoy the resort. Its become an annual family long weekend. BUT if the race fees get any higher I will very quickly put the brakes on that as well.
  22. I like. They need to implement this in Joburg on Oxford road going through Rosebank. Buses are a major issue here especially early morning. Cant even remember the number of close shaves I have had. The buses also seriously exceed the speed limit. If I was a traffic cop I would be making a few arrests every morning.
  23. Hassle is it is triathlon season. Theres a bunch of races at least 1 a month for this summer. At R350 to R500 a pop it starts costing. At R750 No way ! I dont mind paying R750 for races like Midlands Ultra but I sure as hell am not paying R750 to go to sun city. Never mind all the other costs involved like wife, kids valley of waves, casino lunch etc. End the day it can cost thousands never mind the R750 reg fee.
  24. Just to amend my post above. NO I wont be at this years event. Just got a shocker : price tag for entry is R750 Theres no way I'm paying R750. Things are really getting out of hand here. Last year it was about 55 dollars which equated to just under R500. I suppose the organizers are trying to make up for lost revenue for last years race when the timing equipment failed and they opted to refund competitors some of the registration fees. Well I'm not impressed.
  25. Anyone doing this for the first time ? the run is HOT and HILLY so be prepared. Swim and cycle easy. I will be there. Been working hard on those brick sessions especially hilly brick sessions. Kyalami race track is the perfect place for this. A quick 10 laps gives you 42km's followed by 2 hard and fast laps of running will sort you.
