  1. I took the plunge and registered. The old man will be there. Will be my first and I must say I am quite nervous.
  2. Ok so it turns out as I am an existing spec savers client I have one of these MyLoyalty cards, just cant find it. BUT the RULE says you must spend at least R100 before you can qualify for the spec savers discount even if you have an existing card. So I went down to my local spec savers and spent exactly R100. So tomorrow then once the purchase has registered I should be able to complete my registration. I hope ....
  3. Then you grab their car keys and cycle off into the distance
  4. How about a paint ball bomb ! red or yellow ink
  5. I soooo do miss those days when you used to be able to jump on your bike for a 100k sunday morning ride with simply a cap on to keep the sun out of your eyes. Hey whats that plastic thing on thats guys head ? its not a helmet is it ?
  6. When it comes to MTB theres no way I'm riding plastic
  7. Garf. Did you do a spec savers entry ? If so did you go into spec savers spend a R100 and get a MyOwn loyalty card. Just thinking I cant think of much one can buy at Spec Savers for a R100. In which case you are actually only getting a discount of R900 and not R1000. If you spend anymore than R100 you might as well just pay the R4000 and get on with it. I have my contacts for the next 6 months anyway.
  8. I saw the Sky team out at Harties over xmas. Nice Jag
  9. So Garf I gather April 14, 2013 is one of your new years resolutions
  10. I always wondered about that sign I have been past it hundreds of times and its right in the middle of the emergency lane. If you look around all the other signs are off the road on the gravel. I was so frikken tired and a momentary lapse of concentration and thats what you get. Think one night I'll sneak out and cut it down
  11. So i'm about 3.5 hrs into what should have been a 5 hour training session this morning at the cradle. The heat is oppressive, the sweat is pissing into my eyes and I'm climbing yet another hill ... concentrating on my climb and the damn fly that keeps buzzing around me when BANG I ride straight into a Yield sign that is conveniently placed in the middle of the yellow lane. So now I'm lying on the tar my knee has no skin my arm is killing me right where it hit the post and my ego is no where to be seen and so ended my ride.
  12. Garf. Heard a story from my Doctor who went to Phucket with 2 mates to do the recent Laguna Challenge. They got into a fight at a bar. The only problem was they started a fight with some thai boxers. They ended up in Hospital for a few days So when you go to Abu Dhabi best dont go looking for trouble in the wrong places. You might just encounter some arabs with some strange fighting skills. But then again they have not encountered the CLAW
  13. yes dont swim alone and do wear a bright yellow cap. never know when one of the canoeists is gonna run you over or the hippo mistakes you for a tasty bit

    TT-Saddle

I ride with an Adamo road saddle very comfy no issues. I have a few uncomfortable saddles in a box somewhere if you would like ...
  15. 120km around the cradle. 4 loops later and I started to get dizzy and bored. The only interesting thing I saw was the white tiger ... wish it would jump the fence one day then we would see some seriously fast cyclists
  16. I know the feeling well. Its sickening .. best post pics of the bikes here
  17. Sounds like this is what I need. I am in week 4 of a 20 week programme for IM2013. So long hours at work and a hectic training regime and guess what ? last week Wed I get sick and end up in bed for 3 days. A whole week down the tubes. You simply cannot make up lost training. Maybe a day or two but not an entire week. What I need is something to boost the immune system and get me going
  18. At the recent Midlands Ultra I did a trial run for IM2013. For the swim I wore speedo as underpant so to speak under my wetsuit. In T1 I put a full padded cycling short on. In T2 I swopped the cycling short with a running compression short. Admittedly it did not all go smoothly was at least 1-2 mins slower through T1 and T2 than the garf but I was comfortable. In a 12hr+ event comfort is going to be of paramount importance for me. During the last Germies Olympic distance I wore a 1 piece and needed to heed the call of nature during the run. This was not a good experience. The 1 piece shoulder straps and zip etc just got in the way. Going forward 2 piece for me.
  19. davem is this what you are referring to ? http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/mens-heatgear-longsleeve/pid1201163 Would the specsaver dudes have any objections to you wearing this under your tri top ?
  20. So Mon-Fri my cycling is restricted to an IDT. Sat and Sun 5am I hit cradle and do a few loops. So what we are saying now is that you are not even safe out at the cradle I cannot frikken believe it. I thought the worst that would happen is the white tiger would jump the fence or a local farmer brown would get upset for some odd reason. Now we gotta watch for drunk drivers in the yellow lane many years ago I was cruising up krugersdorp hill in the yellow lane on a friday afternoon with another cyclist I did not know. some arsehole hit the dude behind me and killed him. the driver claimed the cyclist swerved in the middle of the road which was total bull***t.
  21. I did'nt know there was a cycle lab in little falls ? I live in Randpark Ridge and deliberately did not join Cycle Lab fourways because its too far out. But Little falls is on my cycle route out to the cradle so i suppose this is a good option as a club for next year. Anyone else here a member of the cyclelab little falls ?
  22. Sigh ... still waiting for a factual account of the incident. Surely the cycling world cant be that small.
  23. This is going to be interesting. Popcorn time. Would really like to hear it from the dude who got arrested. Love to know exactly what it was he did to get arrested.
  24. You should try swimming in the Midmar dam even better !! Did the Midlands Ultra water was Xcellent
  25. You guys are very trusting indeed. I had no idea there was anyone on this planet who was this trusting especially in the crime capital of the world.
