  1. Where will the best OTB view be had on this track? How will spectating this event affect my CTCT performance the next day?
  2. I think #enduromtb reviews are rather lacking. Just the other day they panned the enduro 29 as "slow" now it's the best of the lot. They are also obsessed with 29ers and say so all the time.
  3. Wow, if its not the cars its the idiots on bikes...
  4. I'm choosing to believe this one - yr.no 02:00–08:00 Fair. 17° 0 mm Gentle breeze, 5 m/s from north-northwest 08:00–14:00 Clear sky. 18° 0 mm Gentle breeze, 4 m/s from south-southwest 14:00–20:00 Clear sky. 22° 0 mm Moderate breeze, 6 m/s from south-southwest 20:00–02:00 Clear sky. 18° 0 mm Fresh breeze, 8 m/s from south-southeast
  5. Oh dear - here we go again... Cape Point was on fire last night too - its been very windy here of late, but the weekend is looking a bit calmer.
  6. Yes, me too but thats very debatable causation we have there. (But I do really have a large scar on my leg from a hot rear disk) ... I haven't taken them off my MTB however.
  7. If anyone is looking for quality but affordable headsets, go to CRC and order a Nukeproof. They have a catalog which removes all doubt as to whether you have the right size one, and the prices are very good. The one I got for my On One was about R450.00
  8. No, they burn like a barbecue - wanna see pics of my scars?
  9. Does this mean i should sell my old "used only for the CTCT" road bike to upgrade or will I get along just fine. I'm worried I will be braking too soon and get taken out by late brakers on discs :-)
  10. Dave you've lost all cred now you've gone geared. Sorry man. I used to look up to you.
  11. Sorry to hear about yet another hit and run fatality. Condolences to you and his family, Cotic. I hardly ride the roads any more much as I enjoy it. We're training for the CTCT at the moment and were out for 67km on Sunday. It was mostly fun but the scary driving on the homeward leg made reaching home safe and sound a relief. You simply cannot rely on motorists to drive carefully and safely around you. Some times defenisve riding will save you, but the drunken or careless @sshole coming from behind you is another story...
  12. What is the actual bottom line with CSA? Are they corrupt and badly led? Is there too much government interference and attempted cadre deployment?
  13. Lol, it was the only mountain bike apparently...
  14. That Kenevo looks ideal for lots of Tokai Sessions. Time to start saving for when I'm sixty five.
  15. About 110, isnt it? He does however know how to ride properly. There were a couple of hardtails in the mix too. Having ridden the Delvera event a few times I can confirm that the trails are not very gnarly at all. In fact i was going to try my hardtail out there if I'd entered. That said, lots of comfy suspension is an amazing thing after the beating you take on a HT at speed. Horses for courses.
  16. I may be mistaken, but it looks like iRide won the Delvera enduro this weekend on a Mercer bikes dual suspension steel is real bike. Local is lekker.
  17. I have a Pike and a Yari so difficult to compare as the chassis is different. The only issue I have with the Yari equipped bike is a rather low bar position which has nothing to do with the fork performance. It seems to ride high enough, doesn't bottom out easily and the simple compression damping is easier to use and just as effective as the Pikes three position with the fiddly little knob. R2.5 k is a lot to spend and unless you're actually having issues, I'd spend it on good tyres instead. My 3c
  18. https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/The-Return-of-the-Goat-We-Ride-the-All-New-2018-YT-Capra,2195 This article is very balanced and the tester preferred the 27.5 in the really steep stuff.
  19. I think that bike designers have massive leeway these days because shock technology and the understanding of suspension kinematics has advanced to an extent where a a 180mm travel bike can be designed to pedal uphill quite well. The trend for a while has been for longer ie 160mm plus travel enduro bikes - the Radon Swoop 170, Spaz Enduro, Propain Spindrift etc have been around for a while. YT have just updated an old design and brought it in line with other manufacturers.
  20. The safest but not easiest would be to ride back the way you came. Alternatively, ride back down Rhodes Drive past Kirstenbosch. The out and back route on the mtb route is fairly strenuous with a lot of climbing.
  21. Yes but there is still that sort of crumpled look about the mid section where those big links are hanging on the shock. Lets face it it just doesn't appeal next to the chunky yet fast looking red beast t
  22. Nope, its a bit ugly IMO. They can keep it in the UK.
  23. I love this boat anchor. #steelisreal and #26aintdead spring to mind. Seriously, I do think its great.
