  1. I like those Mojos. but I think the paint jobs on the latest ones are dodgy. They pedal better than any bike like that should and the latest version is only a little less good at climbing than the shorter travel ones by all accounts.
  2. to Janene and the team at Eselfontein - well done! Please keep the event as it is - it works. My wife's partner had never done a night ride before and she managed just fine.
  3. I agree - give me a long slack brightly coloured steel HT right now!
  4. Thanks, yes that's me. Your turn Fatboy!
  5. I'd like Vetseun to post a pic of his fat self.. I cant believe a guy with a nic like that would even contemplate the Munga.
  6. Was there as team mechanic and parent in charge. My wife and her partner had a lekker ride and got third ladies team which covered their race entry plus some change plus a nice Jordan Red. Probably the only podium shared by a 26er (Zula) and a 29er (Spark)! This is a stage race for trail riders - distances are not that far but its hard riding with barely any respite from technical riding. The enduro looks to have been a great success as well. More entries than ever and no disasters as far as I know. T shirts were on sale at R150 I think. They are good. Ladies is long sleeve with a proper cut.
  7. I must say I find the Enduro reviews a bit amateurish but perhaps its just the poor translation from German. I have ridden the DHR2 2.3 (normal tubeless) and MM 2.3 (snake) a bit. I'd say the Maxxis is pretty similar on sidewall strength. i haven't noticed the MM wobbling about on cornering as they claim either - its the most grippy and predictable tyre I've ever ridden. The 2.4 Maxxis is probably better than the 2.3's I tried - they looked pretty thin and unconvincing compared to the MM up front. Either way I'd be happy to ride either of these up front with the SS or RR out back... The fact that they mention the HD as a back tyre makes me doubt the review a bit more - they are rubbish. I am sure Schwalbe make a better option for wet conditioners out back than that. I've just trolled the rest of that review which bears out my doubts about the quality of the testing and conclusions. The E10 cheaper MM gets the same value rating as the Maxxis - huh? The rate the Wild gripper as "predictable" but give it only 3 stars for directional stability. One look at its tread pattern screams "wild slipper" to me :-)
  8. Last time there were jumping castles and the whole place is very kid friendly except the pool of course. There are lovely green lawns and there were lots of kids. I am planning on getting my 5 year old pedaling his bike and will watch the last enduro stage if I can hike up reasonably easily.
  9. I will be there managing my wife's camp and a 5 year old and looking after her bike for the 3 day, thanks to a recently repaired collar bone...so I may be a bit grumpy
  10. Proof that Sam has gone #totallyfullyenduro... That said, I quite like the things although perhaps stealth black is a better option colour wise.
  11. You okes will be too wasted to make a noise. After a beer you'll be lights out by 21h00 I bet. You will also be outnumbered by many...
  12. Agree, it does happen. i managed to puncture a Mary out front on a sharp rock - tread and rim bead punctures. I think the Sheriff may have prevented that. That said, while I like the concept, I think some of the need for this has been created by changes in other parts of the bike wheel - like wider lower pressures and carbon rims. In the case above I stuck some plugs in and the tyre is still good for emergency use and the rim was fine. That said, in a race especially with the costs involved these days, why not have some extra security to make sure you finish.
  13. May the force be with you takes on a new meaning. In a race the person with the biggest battery will win.
  14. I want to like this bike but that funny wish bone link and colour scheme is off for me.
  15. What are the odds of it being cancelled again I wonder. They must be higher than they were before the last one. The possibility of protest action is probably more likely than the wind. I wonder if entries will be down as a result...
  16. Okay its an eMTB, but its the best looking one I've ever seen. The geometron geo is perfect for this application methinks.
  17. Jeez, that's stunningly uninteresting...
  18. I have come to the conclusion that a knee pad is only as good as its fastening system. If it moves, no matter how good the padding is, you will get injured.
  19. If I lived on the beach... they are a niche product even more so than Plus I guess and we have limited use here with our mild snow free winters.
  20. I tried an ebike and I liked it. But it definitely required a deeper immersion in the art of pushing buttons and gear selection. I think there is a great market for the heavy hitting trail bike variety ( as most seem to be) to get you up jeep tracks as easily as possible so you can enjoy the descents fresher and more often.
  21. I agree - its a bit strange but somehow the lines, curvy and all, all add up to a pretty bike. Unlike something like that Pivot XC/Trial bike thing which looks as if it was in a car accident.
  22. So what has happened to this bike and Morewood?? Nothing new on their site or FB. Eish...
  23. I'd have it hanging on the lounge wall!
