  1. You must be VERY old in that case, as those are Roman bath toilets....
  2. Is it for the Fast One MTB or Road race? You should be able to pick up your race number on the day at the venue.
  3. I took this pic on 2012-12-17 at about 06:30 at the corners of Roger Dysan and Voortrekker roads (the Exxaro corner). Could this be a contributing factor for the number of road deaths?
  4. Our condolences to his family at this time. He was an inspiration to many young riders.

    Redstone MTB

I see there are quite a few entries already for this event. Looking forward to this, the last MTB event of the year in Gauteng.
  7. Done. Read all the other stories as well, and think yours is as good as any....
  8. Does anyone know if this event is still taking place tomorrow? (21/10/2012) There is nothing on any of the usual entry sites, although I see it appears on the ASG Events calendar.
  9. Best bet is be there for an 8am start, and if it starts at 9, you are already there. Not sure about the start time (can't remember exactly) but then again I am there from about 6:30, so I am there.
  10. Got this in the mail today Should explain everything. Vori-Berg flyer - 11 Aug 2012.pdf
  11. We have been using a Bosal for almost 2 years, and can highly recommend it. It cost in the region of 3k, which is cheap when compared to the other guys, that start at about 6k. Not sure who the agents are in your neck of the woods, but google should help.
  12. There should be - there were 820 entries for the day.
  13. Got it set as a ringtone for when my son phones me.
  14. Forget Hello Peter Remember FNB
  15. Bigger is better....
  16. You can register now, and pay via EFT on payday. Send the PoP through via e-mail, print it and take it when collecting your number.
  17. Farmers have been transporting workers with trucks from their place of residence to the farms and back for many years. When we were still farming we used to do it daily as well. It is accepted practice, even though some people would say we are carting them along like cattle to the slaughter. The other alternative is for the farm workers to make use of public transport. We gave our workers the option that we would pay for half of the transport costs if they wanted to make use of buses or taxi's. They chose the free truck transport. We were a commercial farming operation that relied on seasonal labourers to an extent, so purchasing and running a bus did not make any business sense, as it would stand for 6 months of the year. A truck was equipped with a canvas tarpaulin to give some protection from the elements. The tarp could be removed, and the truck utilised in the general operation of the farm. We lost trucks twice in the late 1980's and early 1990's due to the "riots" that occured during those days and were petrol-bombed. Another was lost in a traffic accident, when a car drove into the side of the truck while the truck was parked. The car caught fire, which spread to the truck... Fortunately there were no deaths in any of the instances, although their were some injuries.
  18. What do you mean no pictures? If there are no pictures it didn't happen.
  19. Hi Jacques (The Sliverback man) Most guys on the hub will tell you that the grammar nazi's frequent the site, and they are right. I know it is at times difficult to get the spelling of words right, and at the bright young age of 17 you are probably more used to spelling according to what you use for language in SMS and BBM's, but please, try to use the correct spelling where it matters. A quick example, and the correct spelling underneath... i did he must just reed his mails he hasn't called me ones I did. He must just read his mails. He hasn't called me once. Note the difference? Next time your English teacher tells you to pay attention in class, it might be best if you actually did.
  20. PM sent to ASG.
  21. From what I can make out of the campaign they basically confiscate the device, seal it, and book it in at the Greenpoint Traffic Department. I assume it will work on the same principle where something gets booked in at the SAPS into their SAP13 store. Details of the rightful owner, time, date and circumstances in which the item/s were taken into possession and details of the confiscating offical are all recorded in a register. When you want to claim your item/s you need to supply proof of identity, and often also proof of ownership. In this instance the proof of ownership will have to be accompanied with proof of payment of the R500-00 fine. I can just imagine a lot of people are going to be very upset with having their devices confiscated, even if they are in the wrong, and are breaking a law that has been in place for some time now. It is also going to open up a whole can of smelly worms, where people are going to attempt to bribe their way out of having their devices confiscated. Traffic officials are either going to make bundles of extra money for themselves, or a lot o people are going to be prosecuted for attempting to bribe Police and/or Traffic officials. It is anyones' guess as to where this is going to end.
  22. Ordered the best possible weather. Hope this is satisfactory.
  23. I am a moderator/administrator on the local Garmin forums, and you would be suprised how many people don't know that you can register your device online. You also need to send a mail to Garmin reporting the theft of the unit, which will then be flagged as stolen. Registering the device online won't necessarily stop it being being stolen, or even recovered. Where it does help, is when the unit is taken in for a software upgrade, or mapset upgrade. The techies at Garmin can then immediately see that the unit was registered to someone else, that it is stolen, and can set the ball rolling to get the SAPS involved. Many (most) people that buy a GPS use it as a plug-and-play device, where they purchase the unit, install it in their vehicles, and drive around like that for years without once bothering to upgrade the Road Safety Data (camera warnings etc.) mapsets or software/firmware. It happens occassionally that someone will register on the forum, and their first post will be something along the lines of "help my GPS was stolen. What now...."

  25. Hi Martin, and welcome to the forum. I think the best bet would be to hook up with the cyclists at Epic Sport, which is just about a block from your house. They should be able to assist you, and you can join their outrides on Saturday mornings.
