  1. Andre het die top 3 ouens aangesê om die tweede koevert vir hulle Pa's te gee. Ek het die koevert gekry, maar die &%#?@/ laaitie het reeds die inhoud verwyder...
  2. You people are all idiots and as such deserve to fall over continuously. I have a powerbalance band on each arm, and they work. I hardly ever fall over. I can sometimes even stand on 1 leg, and the powerbalance bands on the opposing arm certainly help me keep my balance. Especially when I lift the band up horizontally to the ground... I have a LiveStrong band "down there" and believe me it works. Ask my wife. When she stops laughing she will tell you. I also heard that the CPrime bands make you lose weight. I bought 10 at 10 GBP, and they work!!! I lost 100 pounds.
  3. Not all black people are bike jackers. Not all bike jackers are poor people. Not all poor people resort to crime. Looking at the pics of the alleged bike jackers that were caught recently I can't seem to see that any of them appear to me suffering from malnutrition, ot that they committed these crimes because they were hungry. Could greed not be a motivational factor as well? Not necessarily the greed associated with wanting the possesion of another, but the greed that stems from the fact that the majority of MTB riders are seen to be rich white people that can afford an expensive bike, and must therefore also ride with the latest smartphone and credit cards on them when they go out riding.
  4. I have been doing a quick search, and it is much more than just 2 bikes over the last few months. How many stolen bikes has he received and resold that we aren't aware of, as the previous owners are not Hubbers? Maybe the locals can stage a picket near his shop, carrying boards with "stop bicycle theft" or something similar. Also warn prospective clients that allegations have been made that Neil's Wheels have had a number of stolen bikes recovered in the shop. Perhaps a seperate thread, where anyone that has recovered a bike from Neil's Wheels can state the make, when it occurred, and what the SAPS CAS number was....
  5. Try and get details of the bikes (make, model, colour, etc,) then send it through to the relevent authorities. Once the exposè on Carte Blanche is aired on Sunday there is bound to be a livening up of interest, and some of these bikes may be recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
  6. I seriously doubt it.
  7. I find that the easiest way (only way as far as I can tell) is to store the pics on a web-based site, like photobucket, and then copy them from that site to this site. There is a feature in the full editor, where you can post multiple pics....
  8. The rules clearly state the following: The use by any rider of any form of music player, audio device or other similar device (e.g. iPod, MP3 Player, walkman, cellphone) is forbidden during all events and competition as these devices restrict hearing and are considered dangerous to the rider and other riders The commissaires have been briefing riders before every ride that the use of these devices has been banned.
  9. I couldn't agree more. The future of SA Cycling is in the hands these school kids, and judging by their enthusiasm, determination and the general vibe at the race, the sport can only grow from strength to strength. I wish every hubber could experience a race like these kids had today. Not everyone was on a top-end bike. There were some bikes that most people would not be caught dead on, yet these kids put their hearts into it, and that is where it matters. Out congratulations and heart-felt thanks to the organisers, sponsors, timekeepers, and everyone else involved in the day.
  10. I have managed to get screenshots of what the route looks like in Mapsource, as well as the summary of the track. Hope it helps...
  11. The uploader won't permit me to attach either a .gpx or a .gdb file.
  12. Well done - BUT.... You endangered your life by grabbinbg the person. He may very well have been armed, and the situation could have turned out quite differently to how it did. By "seizing" the bike you also made yourself guilty of theft, in that you took possession of property that did not belong to you. The illegal owner can very easily turn around and open a case against you, in that you took his property which he paid R1500-00 for. His confession to you that he knew the bike was stolen won't easily hold up in court, as it will be regarded as hearsay, the word of one person against that of another. In a perfect scenario you should have kept following the person, while summoning help, and then only acting when that help arrived. We don't live in a perfect world where the perfect scenario always presents itself, so in this case I think you did the correct thing. Should the smelly stuff hit the rotating device, the courts will decide the case on the merits of what the "average person" would do, and with the escalation of bikejackings, they could very well decide that you acted as a concerned citizen and did what any "average person" would do in a similar situation. In the end all is well that ends well....
  13. www.trailarent.co.za coudn't get a telephone number, but the website should help...
  14. Another option would be the Bosal bike carrier. Check out THEIR site. They are available from Southbay Cycles in Centurion, but I am certain that your local LBS should be able to order one for you. They are manufactured in Germany, and as expected from a German product the design is excellent. Used on tar roads or bundu bashing the carrier clings to the towbar ball like the proverbial smelly stuff to a wool blanket.
  15. I take it a neuro surgeon would lobotomise a part of the brain so that you don't feel the pain?? Sorry - couldn't resist.
  16. I know there is a trailer rental company in Centurion with trailers for rent, that have branches in Centurion, Pretoria and Cape Town. They are situated on the corners of Hendrik Verwoerd and Jakaranda streets. Will try and get a telephone number for you....
  17. Without getting into the 26/29er debate.... My son started riding on a 26er, because that was all that there was available. After upgrading it to the point where the only upgrade available was to get a new bike, we decided to look at the other options. By upgrading I don't mean pimping the bike out with the latest and best, but what works for him. We have always started out with the perseption that technology is not what wins a race, but the rider using the technology. He started on a Giant Halo, which we upgraded by changing the frame to a Giant XTC. From there the components were slowly upgraded over about 2 years where he had the XTC, with XT/XTR groupset, crank etc. Shifters and brakes stayed with the original Deore/LX. After riding that bike for more than a year, it was like trying to flog a dead horse. He rides on average in 3-4 races per month, and he had outgrown the bike. (He is only 17, and stands 1.84m in his socks.) The options were to get a bigger frame, and replace the well used components, or get a new bike. We chose the new bike option. Again, we had the choice of looking at the various 26ers, with all the manufacturers and permutations available, or going the 29er route. Cost was a definite consideration, as neither my wife nor myself earn enough to really afford a decent top-of-the-range bike, even though his riding warrants it. We therefore decided to look at the alternatives. Some of the smaller / less well known brands, where we would not be paying for the name, but rather for what we got. To cut an already long story a bit shorter, we ended up with a Momsen SL929, with a combination of Momsen/SRAM XO and Magura components. This bike fits him, he is confident in his abilities on it, and he can really ride it like it is meant to be ridden. Bottom line: If your bike has reached the end of its useful life, and it is time to get something new, then do that. Look at what you can afford, visit a few shops, try out the various bikes available, and then make your decision based on your personal experiences and preferences. Don't let anyone dictate what you should ride, be it make, model, tyre size or any other factors. You are riding the bike, so get what you want.
  18. No helmet no ride.
  19. Why should students get a discount? Aren't they still being supported by their parents, or do they get kicked out of the house they day they have written the last matric paper? Why can't hardworking parents get a discount? They have kids to support, grocery accounts, student loans, school fees and all the other whatnot's to pay. Why can't people that ride a P&P Special get a bigger discount than someone riding a 100K custom bike? The bloke on the custom bike can evidently afford it.... MTB racing is expensive. Canooing is expensive. Parachuting is expensive. Everything is expensive. Living is expensive. Dying is even more expensive. Live long and prosper.
  20. My son has one. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm173/pezulu/24052011095.jpg
  21. I am going to have to miss it due to the XCO Provincials at Fountains. Will ask my son if he wants to ride it, and maybe make it a club ride as well. Quite a few of our club members have had losses, or know of people that have had losses. Any banners/branding that can be carried?
  22. It helps to wet the electrode part before putting on the strap. For some reason it then normally picks up the HR strap. Check the following: Menu Settings Bike Settings HR +ANT Select YES RESCAN
  23. Your pump was handed in at the finish line. He gave your name, and it was announced on the PA system. The pump will possibly have been handed to the race organizers, or one of the commissaires or timekeepers may still have it.
  24. The skies will have one extra star in them tonight. RIP

    Bike Jacker

Posting the pic of the alleged bike jacker before he has appeared in an identification parade, and before he has appeared in court could seriously jeapordize any criminal proceedings that may be brought against the person. I would suggest that the OP or mods remove the pic, as it can be construed as being of influence to anyone that has to attend the ID parade.
