  1. I will be there. Is Sanparks going to be present. If so I will need a few drinks before hand
  2. This one did it for me, what an awesome way to celebrate the TDF but to do a victory lap with your son.
  3. I didn't see the incident but remember that he just rode himself on the limit for 40 km, I understand if he felt like barfing instead of signing autographs, give the man a few minutes to collect himself. There is a time an place to get autographs.
  4. How long is the trail run?, need to do that the day before to get a real workout for the weekend.
  5. Check out Trail & Tar in Tokai they have a lady doing BG setup, heard only good things about the service.
  6. I think the OP's problem, apart from his lack of PR acumen, is that he is pitching something very few epic riders actually need. 1) the top teams have all the support and training they want and therefore don't need this, 2) the bulk of epic riders don't have aspirations of getting on the podium and therefore don't need this, and 2) those that are shooting for quick times or good category positions can sort out themselves due to their knowledge, club connections or minor sponsorships that they can grab.
  7. Just about as bad as the downhillers pushing their tanks up the singletrack and not getting out of the way for riders coming down
  8. Hell no. I would love to see Wiggo or Froome take the TT, after the performance that team GB put in on Saturday they deserve it. When last did you see four guys at the front of the peleton for the bulk of a 250 km race. Yes the strategy was pretty poor but it was the only one that GB had available to them. I think that team GB rode with heart and soul, they are a tough bunch of lads who are going to come out firing on wed.
  9. Who have you put on the podium?
  10. I think the only reason Froome was held back was in case Wiggo had a mechanical on the last climb and needed a wheel / bike change, with the field shattered and spread all over it could take minutes for a service vehicle to get to him. The tour is a team game and Froome showed that he is a true team player, sadly the best rider is not going to win the tour, which is frustrating and irritating for us, but there are team orders and contracts in place, that Froome needs to honour to look after his career. I would bet serious money that we wont see Wiggo & Froome on the same team for much longer.
  11. I wouldn't call that an entry level deal, you can get on the road with a good mid range bike and all the kit for half the price.
  12. get knee warmers, full tights are not acceptable. Get a long sleeve cycling top and wear your apple jacket over it. With long fingered gloves you will be fine, the only thing that will suffer a bit are your ears. get a fleece ear warmer and off you go. At worst it is only going to get down to 6 degrees or so, it is better to be a bit chilly than dressed like a Michelin man
  13. I have been battling my bad R C injury for years, I am now seeing a great physio, with excellent results, quite a few seasons of rehab and loads of strengthening exercises but it is coming right and I know now that it will be 100 % soon, I almost have full range of motion without any pain and will be in the pool soon and training for ironman. Surgery should be a last resort, once they start cutting it seldom stops.
  14. I see CWC have some Aest stuff on sale, bar & stem. Anyone bought them and can comment? I have never heard of Aest
  15. Its always a bit of a mare at the end of the month. Just email absa to complain so that they can ignore you.
  16. RS Recon offer best value for money, weight vs performance vs cost. Reba is a bet better but quite a bit more expensive.
  17. Hey kosmonooit, who is this ex ANC comrade that we have to thank for the cycle lanes?
  18. This is not good, there seem to be lots of saddle bags, camelbaks and heavens alive a tri-bag being used. Do we need to go back to style basics here? I wrap mine in clingwrap and put it in my back pocket.
  19. Brilliant, I will try help out with the maintenance when you post the details. I agree there is some pretty poor riding, both in terms of "chicken runs" and bike control, why can people stop riding down singletrack with the rear wheel locked up?
  20. If you want douchbags not yielding track, try trail running, for some reason, it seems to be a legitimate running tactic to hold up faster runners on single track.
  21. Long time no action on this thread. I rode Tokai again yesterday after a few months absence. Man it is getting trashed in some areas, particularly Vasbyt. The single track is getting wider and wider from people riding around roots, trees and other "obstacles" such as puddles, in some places you can ride three abreast. Oh how I miss the the narrow twisty single track from years gone by. Perhaps SANParks needs to start limiting the number of riders that they let in to save the trails.
  22. Let me go speak to Probike, they are in the office a few doors down from me.
  23. What a useless post, if you have something to say then out with it, otherwise don't bother posting nonsense
  24. For me this is the worst omission, he proved himself with Silver is OZ. He should be going.
  25. Can anyone say fixie or single speed conversion, that would make a sick ride.
