  1. I guess lots of people have seen the CWC email advert in which Chris mentions that there is a price fixing cartel trying to stop CWC bringing in goods and retailing them below retail price. All I can say is that I will continue to support CWC as much as I can and stick it to the cartel! Keep the great deals coming Chris! Chris had the forsight to get the online shop running and he deserves the benefit, the fact that the other shops are so stuck in the old retail model is their problem. Adapt or die as they say.
  2. I would only go for Polar, their products are brilliant and there is a great range to choose from. I have never had a problem with my Polar, only the occasional battery changed. The service that you get from Polar agents (IHF Products) is also awesome, I normally get a 3 day turn around including postage from CT to Joburg.
  3. That looks pretty close, but there are a few steeper bits and a slight dip at about 1.5 km, but the distance and elevation looks right, I think it goes up to more than 9 % in bits especialy at the end
  4. I find the secret is not how often or what you use to lube your chain but how frequently and well you clean your chain. Keep it clean and lube lightly and you will get good life out of your chain. The problems arise when you lube a dirty chain, you are just wasting money because you are not removing the abrasive particles first
  5. Where in CT?
  6. You are just a stones throw away from Grabouw, Stellenbosch and Lebanon, plenty great riding, you can get details on mtbroutes.co.za, check pedalpower.co.za for events, but it is road season now so there will less on the mtb front.
  7. My invoices have a section at the bottow showing the increase in the account over 30, 60, 90, 120, and longer days, I put the interest rate up each month. If guys can see what they will be paying the longer they wait, they quickly pay up
  8. I hope that you have had a kind word or two first, otherwise it is a good way to loose business.
  9. I am one of those who have said, and do maintain, that up has the right of way in MTB. But I find that it is unproductive to enter into discourse on the finer points of MTB ettiquette once 6 inches of duel crown fork have already made contact with my pip at 40 km/h. Hence the reason that I yield to DH'ers
  10. Hey Colonel is here, that means I must say LANCE!!
  11. fausto coppi
  12. I ride up and down the singltrack. and have done so for years. I have never been suprised by a downhill rider, they make so much noise you can hear them a mile away, so I just yield to them. A 20 kg bike, fatty rider and all that armour will win any day of the week. There is no need for over-regulation, uphill or downhill only routes, just common sense and mutual respect, thats MTB baby.
  13. Roons, does that mean that they are adding a TT or scrapping the prologue?
  14. I know you said 60 min drive, but what about a 60 min boat ride - Robben Island, pretty flat but you would get amazing TV - Kevin Vermaak, you can give me royalties for that idea.
  15. Whatever is comfortable, gives good grip, prevents pinch punctures, tyre pressure is a balancing act. depends on your weight, tyre volume, shock setup, riding style etc.... Just start with a fairly high pressure and reduce it bit by bit until you reach that happy medium
  16. I just use the parktook web site, always has all the info that I need, just service the bike next to your computer, use a laptop or print the relevant section.
  17. How long have you been riding, you may need some time to get conditioned to the heat. The fitter you get the better your body will cope. Make sure you are well hydrated BEFORE you ride. You could possibly just be babalas?
  18. Thats the way I feel, but you just need to make sure that your basic package is ok, I had a Trek Mtb that I was going to upgrade (fortunatly it got stolen) but I would have had to replace absolutly everything over time, except the frame (which wasnt great anyway).
  19. IMO upgrading will cost you more in the long run, but if you dont have the cash to buy a complete bike, new or second hand, go the upgrade route. It can also be quite fun sourcing and fitting new bits to the bike.
  20. Pathetic that that Git Giteau gets a free pass. The boks have always recieved harsh treatment for any incident. They should at least have held a hearing, to deem that the incident didnt even warrant a second look is bollocks.
  21. Is this your first IM, is it a once off affair or are you a regular. If it is a once off or you are not going for a high placing role clinchers are the way to go, otherwise tubbies can ruin your race. I think the best clinchers and rim combinations will get very close to tubbies, and will be cheeper as well. Save yourself the peace of mind and go clinchers, I have seen soo many races ruined by tubbies.
  22. Dont forget to toe in or toe out if you normally ride like this otherwise you can realy bugger up your knees.
  23. shimano spd works for me, but not the multi angle release cleats, the normal ones
  24. Normal position is under the ball of your foot, but do what is comfortable for you, its more about power and comfort than unclipping, if you struggle to unclip undo the spring tension so it is easier to get out, as you get used to unclipping you can increase the tension
  25. Damn irritating, and the municipal strike and big increase those guys will get will hit our rates next year as well, pay pay and pay, thats what the government expects from us. Just going to have to give myself a pay rise.
