  1. Idrive is just being a troll, or he simply doesnt understand competitive sport, whatever. I am sure he doesnt share that attitude with his wife, if he does then shame.
  2. I would post a few of your pics, so that guys can see the standard, or a link to your web site. I realy like the idea of the donation to the plant a tree thing.
  3. You said we, how many of you punctured? Is this an organised ride, or club ride or just a bunch that got together.
  4. Fand is right, heart volume differs from person to person, a larger heart which can pump a larger volume of blood can beat slower than a smaller heart. The amount of red blood cells, (oxygen carrying capacity) of a persons blood also makes a difference, hence Fand's reliance on EPO & CERA
  5. I would go for a less expensive brand like a scott, lose the cheep (mechanical) disk brakes, and get a better drivetrain and fork.
  6. Kevin Vermaak is pasionate about his event and is promoting it, selling advertising space and raising the profile of the event each year. The PPA / cycle tour trust just put on a 4 day bike race for some third string roadies and simply go through the motions each year. I think that the Epic can show the Giro how it can be done. The Giro has the most spectacular scenery and could easily enjoy a far higher profile than it does, it just takes a bit of effort and will.
  7. I agree go lefty, someone who rides a 'dale could easily buy a giant which is too big for them just by looking at the frame. I almost made the same mistake when moving from a regular frame to a compact frame a few years ago, the compact just looked way to small. Fortunatly the bike shop persuade me to buy the right size otherwise I would have been stuffed
  8. I have used CS Matrix for years and have always been very happy. I Have also heard good reports for the First Ascent stuff, they are probably much of a muchness. As a PPA member you get a 10 % discount on Cape Storm stuff
  9. only Zumatello actualy deserves to live in the sewer.
  10. Rim brakes are the way to go, little or no hastle, cheep to maintain and if you are not doing a lot of riding in mud and wet, perfectly acceptable stopping power. The biggest issue to me, is the quality of the disks, cheep disk brakes are the pits, cable disks are a waste of time.
  11. That just brings tears to my eyes, what a woman
  12. BigBen, as I understand it Disk Wheels need the spokes to be Dished, to compensate for the stresses imparted by braking at the hub rather than at the rim. There is a different lacing pattern that results in diferent paths from rim to hub.
  13. Could be any number of things, remove, and clean the seatpost
  14. I dont know who he is but he is checking out that cyclist's butt
  15. Please make sure that you bring this incident to the attention of the Cycle Tour Trust. They must know about it in order to prevent a re-occurance in the future. I would certainly take the matter further and if not a civil suit I would lay a charge against the driver.
  16. Nice pelmets
  17. I still use liners, I still rate them as the best low maintanence method for puncture prevention. On my MTB I have probably had 2 punctures in the last 2 years. Did the Epic with them and only had a single puncture.
  18. Hells bells I dont feel like pulling my Cyclelab Club kit for the Argus after all this nonsense. I certainly wont drop any more cash with them until this matter is resolved. I think at least McLean should issue an explanation to club members.
  19. Upgrade that Tora to a Recon, it is a massive improvement. and get an Anthem
  20. Wow, that is pretty profound, I never thought that it would have gone much further that the discussions on the hub. Will be intesting to follow how this pans out. I wonder if the purported price fixing actualy took place following the heat on the hub or if simply planning to fix prices is enough to get charged / fined etc...
  21. Mampara's right, give it horns. Remember if you're not first you're last. Dont worry its just a bike race and you can freewheel on the downhills
  22. Is there any point warming up for the Argus, considering that you will then stand around for 30 - 45 minutes in your pen? Pehaps its time to take a set of rollers into the pen
